I'm pretty sure we've all taken Physical Ed at some point. Every school has one and every student is required to take it. :hmmm:

Anyways, I've had tons of good and bad experiences in Physical Ed. The good part is the exercising part. I like playing dodgeball and basketball, especially when we did that over the summer. We also played indoor soccer and that was great fun.

I hated having to do chin-ups and crunches though to pass that little fitness test that was required for middle school. I'm not that great at P.E. to begin with so was that more like torture than anything else.

I also got hit in the face with a soccer ball once when some dude kicked it while I was going for a tackle.
 
I had lots of fun during PE in school. All the way up until I got hit in the face with a tennis ball during class. That was not fun.

The fun parts, though, was playing somewhat-organized football games. I did rather well at them, which is probably why I joined football in the first place. :hmmm:

And I hated doing those exercises as well, Jay.
 
Highlight of the week for me. As I got older, they seemed to just let us do what we wanted so I just played footy with the lads and it was brilliant. In one of my schools they also ran outdoor education where we went to the beach for the week, camped and did team building activities and got to go sailing, kyaking etc.

IMO, they should have more PE lessons a week. We always hear people moan about obesity of children on the news, maybe more exercise at school would help encourage kids to be more active.

I doubt that will happen because school these days is all about the grades and not your health. At least it is in my experience where we only got 1 hour a week for PE.

See, if that was what my PE classes were like I'd probably like them more. If we got to do things like kayaking/row that would pretty awesome, in my opinion. Maybe in more mountainous areas in my country that's probably what they do...just call it P.E. and go hiking in the outdoors. I think that would be the way to go.

Definitely. But in school these days you just get coached to pass exams, rather than actually taught things. I think we used to get two hours a week though. :hmmm:

The last few years of school were the best for it for us too, because we'd get to pick what we wanted to do each term. So it was just football, football and football for us. :monster: Followed by football at lunch time, after school and at the weekends too. You'd think with all that footy I'd be quite good at it. :sad3:
The first few years weren't that bad either because our school had a pool, so we'd get to do swimming a few weeks every year.
 
i used to die a little inside when we had to do the bleep test, I didnt mind the sit ups one, I was good at that, but the running crippled me, I was one of the last to drop out ont he sit ups, one of the first on the running :wacky:

I used to be good at running til like, 2nd year as well...

I hated anything that had to be done outside, it was always fucking cold, and if it was like, netball Id be stood at the other end of the court talking to someone else that couldnt be arsed, freezing. It was shite

I liked that dodge ball shit, long jump I was good at as well, erm, there were a few things I enjoyed, just for the most part I'd forge a note and get out of it

Haha, me too. :lew: I managed to make it about two thirds of the way into the bleep test in year 7, and almost got to represent my school at county level the year after in cross country but ever since then I've had absolutely no stamina for anything like that.
 
I really liked them and ever since I entered sixth form, not having PE lessons on a regularly weekly basis has been a bit of a letdown. It was certainly a change from all those hours in classrooms especially in the summer period when you have little incentive to do much studying at all.

It's certainly true that later on the teachers relaxed their curriculum and let us choose what to do. To me, it would usually be hockey or dodgeball. The best part was that I would be playing with friends, so the lessons would mainly be just fun competition. I also participated in a few hockey match fixtures at the cost of much of my Saturdays, but the rewarding experience I gained from the various victories we achieved were great.

The only aspect of sports in my previous school that I hated was the cross country event that strangely takes place before Christmas. So you can imagine that when we start running in the afternoon, it gets dark fairly quickly and the muddy ground would just be treacherous to run on. Oh, and it was damn freezing.
 
My bad, we did actually get 2 hours but it always seemed like one because it was a double period and so much time was spent waiting for people to get changed and getting ourselves registered. :rage:

I think there is a universal hatred for the bleep test. :lew: Every person I know that's heard the words uttered has groaned. :andry:

I had to do the 1500m outside in Saudi. I don't usually cope well continuos running anyway but in that heat... I bet the teacher was doing it for the lulz. :rage:
 
Ooh I liked it in Primary school, it was ace when they got the equpmenty stuff out, I used to go for the trapeze everytime (WHY we had a trapeze and those ring things is beyond me, but we all just used to use them as swings) It was fun in primary school

the sack race was immense

the egg and spoon, not so much. I bloody hated that
 
I miss sports day. :sad3: They changed the format for my last couple of years so there were teams and you got points at each game, and my team won both years. :busta:
They just don't do competitive sport like that when you hit puberty.
 
Bah I am not a big fan of Physical Education class. It really depends what we do but mostly all of it involves running and other fitness tests. Pushups I really hate :hmph: Dips can be exhaustng also -__- Right now my current PE class is badminton which I absolutely hate. Only onnce a week though so it isnt that bad. I tend to prefer Football(Soccer) Dodgeball. Hockey is alright but gets a little too wild in my previous Pe classes :lew: Oh yes I love frisby. Passes the time fast :ryan:
 
I used to love gym class back in high school. :awesome: Playing softball and volleyball were easily my favorites, though flag football was pretty fun too. But it was a lot of fun and it was an easy A. If only we had gym class in college. :(
 
PE was fun back at school. Until year 9, we'd have one hour a week. Shame it went down to one hour per fortnight, I really hated it. Would love to play sports like rounders, netball and dodgeball. I wanted to take it as a GCSE, but my mum prevented me from doing so. >_>

I'd always look forward to it, though. I preferred it either before lunch or towards the end of the day. Having it at the beginning of the day or after lunch just makes it bad.
 
Anyone else hate the fact that they started banning dodgeball in most schools? I thought Dodgeball was hella fucking fun. Now all the kids are going to start missing out on it, because parents apparently want their kids to grow up to be sniveling pussies. -__-

And they wonder why kids in America are so fat. :ffs:
 
Seriously? They're banning dodgeball? Wow...

My physical education period was always fun back in the younger days but during my year it was even more fun due to more freedom. There was no class lesson, it was just do something active and get a good grade for it. Play sports, exercise or it could even be walking around the track field, as long as you did something you pass with flying colors. Easiest 1.5 hours in my high school career.
 
I used to love PE. We had two 1.5 hour classes of practical stuff each week and one 45 minute theory class. It was pretty awesome because we only got graded on the theoretical aspect so the practical part was just about having fun.

I remember only doing one fitness assessment thing and that was in year eight where we had the bleep test as well as measures of flexibility, endurance and strength. But we didn't actually get graded for it.
We did all sorts of stuff like badminton, vollyball, soft ball, soccer, basketball, tennis and archery. Archery was particularly awesome, I remember everyone would intentionally miss the target to see how far they could shoot their arrows.

i loved PE, the only time i hated it was when we went swimming because id have red eyes and stink my chlorine all day. Also sucked when the teacher would say get into groups and i was the new guy in the school so id be thrown into whoever had odd numbers. But i love the pushup state requirement, id always do alot.
 
Ugh I've always hated anything to do with sport, so naturally I hated PE.

I always felt sick when I had to go to my PE lessons and often just never went to class I hated it that much.

My classmates were all too competitive and I couldn't play anything too great and so I hated it when they made me feel like shit for not catching a ball or something.

So to save everyone the trouble I just never went.
