The title is pretty much explains what I'm asking here, are you an achievement person or a trophy person and which do you prefer and last but not least whats you GS or Trophy Level?

i did own both consoles until my xbox died but i still to this day prefer gs to trophies i think it just looks much better than trophies.

my gamerscore before my xbox died was about 11000 annnnd my trophy level is level 7 with 361 trophies in total

I've looked at both systems and their methods of tracking achievements and trophies and all, but I like the Xbox 360 version better with a Gamerscore. Sure it may be a bit biased since that's the one I've owned the longest and played the most, but it just seems more simple for gaming with at most 50 Achievements each with 1000 gamerscore points unless an expansion is released or DLC is added.

I don't know. Both serve there purposes with me which is to provide me with more replay value. For me achievements don't feel as good as trophies do in my opinion. Getting 1,000/1,000 is nice but I feel more accomplished for some reason with a Platnuim Trophy. So I guess I'll go on and say Trophies.

Hmmm they are bith the same shit tbh but I like the way Xbox tallys it all up in a overall score of all games acheivements. Trophies have levels but we get more acheivements each time dlc comes out for new games. But the thing is they are the same shit but I like score better. Plus we get a little pop up noise when an acheivement unlocks :ryan:

I only own an XBox 360, so I guess achievments for me. I love it when I unlock one and you get the little noise XD

Arent they just the same thing??

For the most part they are the same. They both serve as goals for you to accomplish for replay value, or for some bragging rights. The only difference is that Achievements are accumulative points to one's total scores and Trophies are sorted by categories depending on difficulty. Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum with Platinum being obtained by gettting all other Trophies for that one game.

I haven't had a good look at the Trophy system employed by the PS3 but there's one thing about gamerscore that's always annoyed me.

I'm an avid achievement hunter but when you compare yourself to someone who has bought every game under the sun and out points you by tens of thousands at a glance your credentials pale in comparison. I also don't like the way some games (especially the earlier 360 games) hand out gamerscore with little challenge and thought.

Trophies have a little noise when they unlock as well. :ryan: It's a satisfying little *ting!* that I have grown to love.

I don't own a 360, though. :sad3: So I would have to say PS3. The overall score sounds awesome, but tbh, I'm still waiting for that HOME Trophy Room they think we all forgot about. :hmmm: Can show off more than my Salt Shooter platinum then :moose:

Trophies, I don't like the whole 1000G thing, it would give me no incentive whatsoever to complete a game, it's sort of like if you get 1000G you get it if you don't you don't whereas with trophies you get an additional platinum trophy at the end which to me, is more of an incentive to get all the trophies :awesome:

Trophies are much more appealing to me. When I've put a lot of time into a game to complete a task, a nice shiny trophy is much more satisfying that some 'points'.

The gamer points system seems very one dimensional where trophies add more variety and you can have a trophy level and all that. :hmmm:

Yeah I like the congratulatory ping when you acquire a trophy.

I think the system looks a bit neater as well. I like the trophies being tidy as if they are trophies on the shelves of a cabinet. It's easier to compare I think, though I'm not too familiar with the 360 achievement system.

Massive numbers seem a bit too much really, and when talking to people you might not remember the massive number you currently are, whereas with trophies you will be more likely to know whereabouts what level you are with trophies, and how far into the level you are, roughly. I might be wrong though, as I'm not 100% familiar with the Xbox system.

I also love how neat it looks at the top right of the screen when you get a trophy. It isn't a huge blocky announcement, but a smart looking box telling you that you have unlocked a trophy.

I just like the look of the whole system better, though really it doesn't matter much as they are essentially the same kind of thing.

Also, as said by FinalHeart, I do like the idea of levelling up.

I have had an Xbox since it was released in a the UK and a PS3 for 2 days and I can already see that the trophies are given for not only more sensible reasons, but quite often for more difficult tasks.

This not only makes them appeal to me more, but makes them so much more satisfying when you do get them. (2500 Deathmatch kills on UC2 for example, will be a bitch but when I get it man will that feel good)

Also yeah, trophies > points :D

I prefer achievements/trophies that display aptitude as opposed to sheer application, like Gears of Wars 100,000 kills achievement <-- groan

^____ what he (aka Lee) said.:wacky:

I don't really take much notice and I've not had my PS3 for very long but the trophies seem to be awarded when you've actually done something and not just "Well done, you put the disc in, have 50G.".

I'm fairly sure it's the makers of the games who dictate what should earn a trophy rather than Microsoft or Sony, so that's not really relevant. All multi-platform games have the same achievements/trophies.
I do think that trophies are better, a trophy is better than some points as Graye pointed out, and I think how they are graded allows for easier comparison, i.e. x many Golds, Silvers and Bronzes compared to a total number of gamer points.
However most people, like myself will probably just say whichever console they have or play most. It's entirely subjective.

The platinum really is a good feeling, isn't it? :ryan: Especially when you know you worked for it!

And aren't they both basically the same?

i don't have an xbox so i don't know what achivements are all about, but i love Trophies they make all the hard work on your games pay off, like you can show them off hehe.

Yeah, but even then, achievements/trophies that require a God like amount of skill are ridiculous. Ever hear of the achievement on GRAW where you need to be on top of the GLOBAL LEADERBOARD?

Also, I AM Bad Company. I don't know if anyone has gotten that one fairly yet.

Not really, i get some here and there when i play games. I do feel somewhat accomplished for getting some of them, though most of the time i get trophies without realizing because i'm too into the game to notice. Though i'll admit i think i'm slowly becoming a trophy whore, i'm trying to platinum every game i have. :wacky:
