Your first RPG....?

What was your first experience with an RPG?

Mine was with FFVII & I'd never heard of RPG's before then - I absolutely sucked, I got threw the story ok but missed pretty much EVERYTHING optional. The idea of exploring the map just never even crossed my mind. I totally MISSED Gongaga out altho I DID get Yuffie but that was a complete fluke.
I've still never played Zelda & the only other RPG's I have ever played are Breath of Fire 3 & Dragon Quest 8 (I do have BoF 4 but I can't do it lol)

I can't believe how crap I used to be xD. I got into VII by pure coincidence - I was literally just handed the pad and told to take over
 
Final Fantasy VIII was my very first RPG and the one that made me a fan of the Final Fantasy series. My favorite character was Squall then, but now I have a list of favorite characters, most of them being villains :)

If Pokemon's an RPG, it was probably that. If not... Well, it's hard to remember. Probably Tales of Symphonia or Lord of the Rings: The Third Age. It MIGHT have been Final Fantasy VIII, but I only got to Fire Cavern on that before this year. *ponders*

Mine too. I friend lent it to me as soon as I got my PSone, I was in love :D. After I finished it I immediately got the others, 7, 9, 10 wasn't out yet so I got 6, now I'm addicted :D

Go play Zelda and Breath of Fire 4 immediately. xD

My first RPG was Final Fantasy IV...I think. It's been awhile. Actually, I think it was Mystic Quest, but I didn't really get into that one. I started playing FF IV and I was hooked. It's still one of my favorite RPGs ever.
 
That would be FFVII. I never heard of the term "RPG" as well before I played VII.

...Although, now that I recall, I remember playing a game in the old nintendo system, and I can tell it was an RPG. Don't know the title though, as I only played it for a few hours, if even that.

My first RPG was Final Fantasy VIII. I still love playing that game. >_<

My first RPG besides Final Fantasy was Tales of Destiny. I found out about the game by renting it. Brought it later...Tough game to find, and cost over 60 dollars on Amazon. >_<
 
My first would be Pokémon. Not really much of an RPG, but it still classes as such. I'd pottered around on other people's games like Zelda, but never had any of my own unless it was borrowed for about... oh, a day or so; I never had a love for them.

After that, I fully immersed myself in Pokémon, followed later by the world of Final Fantasy. I can't remember for my life how I found out about it, but I bought IX about 2 months after it came out. It all started thereafter.
 
My first RPG? It was Final Fantasy VIII. >_<;; It was on sale for some odd reason and I ended up buying it. So, from then on, I've been pretty much hooked.

FFVIII is also one of my all time favorites as well.
 
Pokemon Red for me. After that, probably The Legend of Zelda or Kingdom Hearts.

Pokemon's the first RPG I've played, though. I'd be interested to know the total amount of hours I've played on Pokemon games. Can't get enough of it.
 
Good old Zelda on the Super Nintendo. Never really beat it or made a lot of progress on it. I mostly fucked around and killed stuff until I got savagely murdered in a river. :monster:

Nonetheless, it was my first RPG, and that was about 13 years ago, so I don't really have a lot to say on the matter... :wacky:
 
King's Field. Excellent game, and very different from "traditional" RPGs. If you ever get the chance, check it out. The gameplay is similar to the Oblivion series.
 
The only experience I have had with Zelda was on the N64 & I got savegly attacked by chickens, never bothered with it since.....nightmares o_o
 
Mine was FFVII. I only got it because back then I was in a desperate need to play a new game, and my friend was big on the FF games. I took a chance and never looked back.

Just going through the battles leading up to the boss in the first reactor I could tell this game, and this genre of games, was going to be unlike anything I've played before.
 
I vagely watched someone play FF7, so I guess that doesnt count lol. Id say that maybe Legend of Legaia or FF8 was my first.
