What do you work as and where? Or are you working towards something else (like a promotion, or getting experience for another job)?

Right now I'm a healthcare adviser in a pharmacy (Boots for all you Britons), so when you've got the cold, the shits or the most simple illness ever, you come to me and I sell you medicine under the protocols I studied for a year. Got a nifty wee certificate saying I'm competant from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain, so it looks quite fancy :wacky:

Only do that part-time while I'm at Uni - 10.5 hours at the weekends at £6.52 an hour, so it's a nice wee wage for a student. Hopefully once I've left Uni I'll have decided on doing either Pharmacology or Genetics, as I said in another thread I fancy combining them in to working with personalised medicines but we'll see what happens...
 
I'm a forklift driver at Covidien, a medical supplies warehouse near Montreal. I prepare orders, I unload trucks and I place the merchandise in the warehouse. I work evening shift Mondays and Fridays so I have my weekends off. I went from full time to part time this fall because I went back to college. I work 12 hours a week at 18$/hour so it's a really good salary for a student. I can work full time during the winter and summer vacations.

It's a very flexible job because I can do more or less than 12 hours a week (min 4 hours, max 22 hours). I lost my vacation (3 weeks) and my benefits (dental, prescription drugs) because I'm part time. I've been working there for two years.

It is a good job but I don't see myself in a warehouse for the rest of my life. Since 17 years old I work in warehouses and it's not the most stable kind of job. It also become boring and repetitive.
 
i work in jd sports. my official title is senior sales, which basically gives me a little authority over regular sales assistants. i work in the stockroom though, so i barely ever see the shop floor and that's just how i like it.
i've had to go above and beyond my regular job outline. i used to be have an alarm code for the fire doors, which is usually only for management, and i've had my name put forward to be allowed to cash up, so if that happens then i'll pretty much be a weekend supervisor.

i'm technically only weekend staff but it's very rare that i only work a saturday and sunday now.
i'm doing a degree in film & tv production, which is basically film making. i'm working towards one day being a director of photography, which is basically a fancy term for camera man for you non-film students, though it does require a lot more than just point and press record...
i'll have graduated in 12 months time and the plan for me at the minute is to move to manchester afterwards to find work in that field. i'm unsure as of yet whether i'll move next summer, right after we finish or if i'll wait a few months until i've officially graduated.
 
I am a SNI (Student Nurse Intern) on the Obstetrical unit of our hospital. Right now I do my nursing skills like putting in foley caths, IV's, and I can give injections as well :awesome: We have 3 areas on our unit: The Labor hallway, the nursery, and Postpartum. Right now I take care of the babies a lot in the nursery and I take care of the moms in post partum. Come December of next year (with many many prayers, tests, and tears shed) I will get my Associate's Degree in Nursing and I plan on staying on our floor...and will be a "real nurse" (RN) and I will be able to be on my own, helping to deliver babies down the labor hallway and taking care of the sick babies in the nursery. I love my job. I am very blessed to have found a career I love so much. If anyone here is interested in Nursing I highly recommed it! It is a very rewarding although sometimes emotional job as you support not just your patient, but the entire family...but I go home feeling like I've really made a difference in people's lives by helping them bring their little ones into the world.

I'm a Boring old administration officer at a University in an IT department.
I sit online all day and play on the internet and only do work when I have to. I get paid an awesome amount but I hate being bored all day. At the moment work has drained all my motivation from being so boring so I currently can't even think of any goals or new jobs i want.
 
I work in a pharmacy in my suburb at the main shopping centre.

I've got my Certificate III in pharmacy studies so I can serve medicine and what not over the counter to people. Obviously I can't sell Pharmacist only drugs but I'm halfway there. XD

I rarely ever venture out to the shop floor though.

My domain is the back office in which I am a data controller, bookeeper and sometimes stock controller. It's all very time consuming.

I go well over my 45 hour week and am on a nice wage at $18.50 an hour.

Thinking of asking them for a pay rise very soon though.

Don't really have any goals at the moment other than that I want to get to learn all areas of our pharmacy. I'd like to get more onto the back counter and learn more about the types of drugs we sell and what they do.

I'd like to then learn whatever there is to learn in the Vitamins department and then beauty. Long way to go before I get that far though. >.<
 
Im a pipe fitter.

For those who think i mean a plumber, im not. Totally differnt work trades.
Bascailly we build the pipe structures for oil rigs and on shore lining.
Sizes of pipe can range from as small as toilet roll tube to about 5ft off the ground. Everything has a 3mm tolerance aswell, if your sizes are out by more than that, then the spool is rejected and has to be cut to suit. Considering the crazy shapes that some of them are in i think its prettty impressive when you can say yeah i built that to withing 3mm of its size.

Thats what we build. Though obviously each spool is differnt size and shape etc.
 
Currently a high school everything-tutor. I practically teach anything if it's required of me. My official job is as geometry tutor as it seems none of my fellow co-workers want to help out the freshmen with this. :wacky: It's a pretty chill job --- most of the time the kids don't even need help and are pretty self-sufficient. They only come to us if they really need help or don't understand something. I usually help out in the history, art, and english departments as well seeing as I excelled in those classes when I was studying there.
 
I'm just a Crew Member in McDonalds. I'm aiming to work my way up, but if not, then I'll move on someplace else because I want to make something of my life.

I generally don't admit to working for McDonalds, mainly because people associate that with being poorly-educated/stupid thanks to modern media like The Simpsons etc. A lot of customers do tend to talk down to me like I'm nothing, which I find so disrespectful.

Hopefully I'll move on to bigger things, one day.
 
I doing fieldwork for occupational therapy. So basically I am still a student and I pay to work :( I can't wait to finish and get an actual job XD But I work a forty hour week with children at a school.
 
I am in my final year of a PhD program- for my research assistantship I work for nursing & social work graduate faculty prof's doing data analysis. For my teaching fellowship I teach a master's Stat class.
 
I am working as a 2nd assistant manager in pizza hut restautant. I am working to improve myself and my personality. I work 9 hours everyday and get paid 800$ a month. My job is to supervise and make sure that everyone is working together in harmony.

And i will reply to it by saying

When someone says something to upset you when you never did anything bad to them means they are jealous, they have a bad heart. You shouldn't feel bad about what they say. You should feel sorry for them that should make you feel better, people have there own problems failures and when they remember them they get angry and there bodies burn. at that time they lose control of themselves and try to free there heat. by either punching the wall, shouting at the people infront of them, or by talking down to others.

We are humans and we aren't perfect. That's just the proof that you're alive!

I am a quality assurance technician II. I work for a collateral management software company based out of Oxford,MS. We specialize in developing the automation of the loan process, the foreclosure process, and other bank related jobs.
 
I work for a company in Long Beach CA, we import but mostly export ag products to Asia. Most of which is hay. I am lucky enough to be able to work remotely from Arizona though. Nothing against southern CA, but it would take a fat ass salary to get me to move there haha!

but when it comes down to it, my job consist of a lot of emailing, a lot of typing and a lot of headaches. but it pays the bills.

i dont know if we're supposed to list passed jobs as well? but before i worked here i worked for Lenovo/ IBM. thats where my real passion lies, with computers.
Hence why i am currently in school for Business and Personal Computers/ Computer Information Systems

errmm... sorry i think i wrote more details than i was supposed to :P
 
I work for a frozen foods company called Cooltrader as a sales assistant. I generally work behind the tills handling cash transactions, keep the stock levels up and handle any general enquiries that the customers may have.

I've been there since September 2006, which is over four years now. As much as I complain about my job, I'm still there and have no idea why I'm there. I only work eight hours a week, sometimes I'll be asked to do a bit more. The minimum wage used to be £4.83 for me, but now it's gone up to £5.93 since October, it's not all that bad.

Most of the people I work with will probably be my friends for life. I've had my ups and downs, but I'm still there amazingly.
 
I'm a systems mechanical engineer. I work for a small business based out of Groton, Connecticut that does contracts for the United States Department of Defense. We do work for submarine systems and we're dabbling with the idea of working on a system for surface ships. Our company is employed by a total of 16 employees, including the president and vice president of the company (like I said, small :lew:). We do contracting work for General Dynamics, Electric Boat, who at the moment is the only company that builds US submarines. That's why Groton, Connecticut is called "The Submarine Capital of the World". :ryan:
 
Currently, I'm a wrestling coach. Started last year as a volunteer, so I got good experience from it. Figured I would help out my brother with it, since we have a big group this year.

I was also an assistant varsity football coach and Offensive Coordinator for the JV team, even though they only had one game.
 
I work as a Prep Cook at an old folks home. I assist the chef with the daily stuff, then serve dinner, then clean down the kitchen. It pays 10$ which is good considering my experience in the field (none)... but we're getting cut back hours again so I'm gonna start looking for something else.

I worked there for a good year just as filler, trying to save money an shit. I had good hours and good days but the emotional investment eventually.. wasn't worth it. working for McDonalds is possibly THE most degrading thing you can do to yourself in the world field, because you get virtually no respect from your customers. Being a stripper you'd get more respect, I reckon. :mokken:

I left because one day a lady called me fat because I wouldn't give her her meal for free. srsly. :monster: I cried, and then I just left (the hours at this time also got shit so it wasn't worth it)
 
Im a charity fundraiser.
Its a fantastic career! We stand in the street. talk to people (they mainly think were harrassing them....but its not) and we get to earn money for some fantastic charities! At the moment its Shelter (a UK homelessness charity), before that it was UNICEF. and before that it was the NSPCC.

This job is so beneficial! You give something back and earn a decent pay package! (none of which is on commission or funded by the charity....so basically im not a BAD person, like alot of people think).
