So what's your typical study environment? For instance, do you prefer to study in your room with the music blaring, or in the library where it's more quiet? Perhaps outside at the patio or in your car? Endless locations, so share them with us.

I personally love studying in my room on my desk. The room has to be tidy first though. If not, then I'll clean the mess, THEN study. Same goes with the desk. I can't stand things cluttered everywhere, and certainly do not want to be disturbed by anyone, so I tend to lock my door.

Loud music is a no-no...but if it's soothing music and instrumental, then that's fine. It actually helps me a lot. If I need to lay down, then I'll simply lie on my bed and read my notes...(that way I'm not wasting time, for time is precious when it comes to schoolwork, especially if you're cramming.)

All these things motivate me to study, so study environment is extremely important to me.

My typical work environment?
Mine is typically my bed, though I know desks are more preferable, but I'm just too lazy to walk all the way across the room and drag my backpack over there, so I work close by to the radio too.
Though no matter where I work, the end result always comes out good in the end. :D

My typical study environment was any quiet place without a soul around, most of the time, my room. At times, I would have some of my favorite music on very low, but nothing else since I'm easily distracted.

I like to study in the quiet, right before I go to sleep. Then when I wake up the next morning, I've had time to sleep on it and absorb the information, then I quiz myself again when I wake up.

I like studying in my bedroom or a library. I can't stand listening to music or T.V while studying. I've also studied in my car before. That was because I came to school realizing that I had a quiz that I didn't study for.

Oh yes, the cram.
I remember doing that for like weeks on end because I lost my planner, but it was all fixed in the end.

When that situation arises however, I try to go to my school's library and study there, the perfect place if you want peace and quiet. Or for the more difficult exams, I go to the career center, where there are computers and whatnot to help you go on.
It's not quite loud, but not too quiet either, so it's just perfect.

Revision

How do you revise, if at all? Can you work in the solitude of your own home, or do you need to work with music/television in the background? Do you study as part of a group? Are you easily distracted? Do you have particular routines/techniques for revising?

I've found that I can't revise or work anywhere but the local library. There're no distractions, you know that you can't talk, other people are there doing the same thing...there's a certain atmosphere there that makes you work. The only issue is the motivation of getting there in the first place. xD

On top of that, I don't go on my own, for some reason. <_<

I was so easily distracted that I gave up on revision. I'd only ever do it if it was forced upon us in lesson, and it was boooooring D:

So, never really revised at all. If I didnt already know it, then cramming my brain full of shit the night before or whatever wasnt gunn work. If it hadnt already sunk in, by the time the exam was due, then there wasnt much chane that it was gunna

I still managed to get decent grades so I cant have done that bad :monster:

I can pretty much revise anywhere, but the place has to be tidy - otherwise I won't be in the mood to study at all. I can't have any loud music/TV on, although if I really don't have a choice and my exam is the next day, I'll revise anyway even if people are being loud. It's just not preferable, of course.

I also like to do it near a fountain or lake. The view and environment just puts me in the mood and although I'll still hear noises, it's not too bad especially since its generally related to birds chirping and the rustling sounds of the leaves.

I have no clue what the word revise means but since its the only verb you guys have chosen to use I'll have to answer this a few ways...

When I study, assuming that's what the word means to British people, I prefer peace and quiet. I don't like anyone else around or any distractions. The smallest noise is enough to draw my attention away from what I'm doing. I cannot intake information when there are distractions around me.

If you mean to revise a paper, as in rewrite it or correct it, the answer is different. I like music in the background when I'm writing. The playlist that is playing though has to be very specific. Music affects my mood so much that my writing style will differ if the tone of the music differs. So whenever I write, the music I hear has to reflect the tone I want to leave in my writing. TV is always off for writing. It's too random.

Revision is one of my bad characteristics when it comes to classes. I usually am a one shot type of person and like to knock out everything I'm doing in one go.

Though I would revise at my house but lately when I'm using my laptop the cats the it is their birthday or something, because they tend to run across my lap chasing one another at top speeds. So my concentration is very very belittled.

I get a bit of work done at the library on campus as well but not as much as I would like. My study habits are lacking sometimes, but I make the grades.. so that's all that matters really.

I can study pretty much anywhere. As long as there's good light and I have a highlighter. I cram sometimes, so it doesn't matter whether there are people walking or taking around me. But I can't study with music. Any type of music puts my concentration off. It sort of makes me either sing along or listen to it intently.

Also, I could study in libraries, but I choose not to. I prefer sitting on the floor when I review.

I can revise anywhere, to be honest I prefer to revise in a social environment, sitting there is silence just doesn't seem...natural. :wacky:
My problem comes that I don't have any will to revise, I find it the most boring thing ever and I only ever tend to revise when there's an exam coming up or a class test, some shit like that.

Aha. Revision. The current bane of my existence. We've been told in Law that we should be doing at least 6 hours of revision a day. And that's just something I can't do.

If I do revise, I can't just re-read things and take them in, I have to re-write them. My favourite method of revision at the moment is to make spider-diagrams of a topic, and write out the most important information about it. Doing it in different colors and pinning it to my wall helps too, as it's colorful - so it's not boring to read, and it's on my wall, so I can look at it at a glance.

I'm not one of those people who can sit down in silence and just revise. It bores me to tears, and nothing stays in my mind D=

i can revise anywhere as long as my parents are there to tell me to revise or i'll get a bad job, results etc. i've started now and it's 1 month till my exams, but i've several bad grades this years because of friendship probs so it was a god time to start.

I don't mind revision at all tbh. As long as I have something to listen too, normally a new album or one I haven't heard for awhile and listen to that over and over again. I'll even just go and get audiobooks that are 12 hours long and total trash out from the library and just listen to them and then just write out notes for about two hours. Then a bit of exercise then maybe 20-30 minutes playing a game. I can study for about 10 hours a day provided I've got plenty of drink and stuff to eat.

However I find I only needed to revise for the last year of college before exams and now for uni. But I've got a very good memory:monster:

When I was studying I usually preferred to have things going on around me.

I couldn't have complete silence as I would get antsy and have to leave the room to get a bit of activity.

I sometimes would study on my bed, but more then often it was at my desk or at the kitchen table around family.

I can't study with music. That's just too distracting, but I do like a bit of a chat with people whilst I'm studying or I get bored too quickly.

I usually head straight to the library after my last class is over with and find a nice quiet spot tucked away at the end of the library next to the window. But, a lot of the times, on certain days (and because there are so many students on campus), that spot (or any spot, rather) is taken and I usually wander about the courtyard outside until I see a massive crowd of people start making their way out of the building (library).

I can't focus at all when I'm at home, in my room. I want to say it's because of all the distractions I have around me (my laptop, my Xbox 360, mp3 player, etc.) and since my bedroom happens to be right next to the living room, my dad likes to watch movies really loud and I usually end up giving up trying to study/do homework....unless I have a really important test or quiz coming up the next day, I wait until he's asleep and study my ass off lol ;;; (not healthy at all)

I personally study in my study room but with music on (mainly Game OSTs) but on low volume, I only have a laptop in my study room when I study so I don't get distracted by my phone, my consoles or anything that can entertain me.

The very few times I took studying seriously, I was always in my room. It need to be complete quiet or I wouldn't be able to concentrate. My books always ended up looking like they survived a tornado when I was done. When I finished studying I tossed those books..... FAR. I always did the work on my bed because I never had a desk. Ehh it's all cool. :)
