Smoking (tabacco) have you tried it?

I dunno, to me someone who cant/wont quit altogether are destined to fail when it comes to the cutting down approach. Iv seen it happen a lot and very often. I know a lot of people like to try the patches from the doctors, im not sure if theyre free or cost money but either way i hear theyre not that effective in reducing cravings, same goes for the chewing gum ive heard. Its all willpower and the desire to stop at the end of the day i think.

The patch only give you nicotine. Sure your not smoking, but your still getting the drug. From what i've heard there somewhat expensive. I'm not really sure about the gum though.

It does differ from person to person depending on how much your body relies on it, for a number of reasons. You may smoke alot more than another person but maybe their body relies on it more so when they go without for a period of time the consequences will be harder than if you did yourself.

Lemmy of Motorhead fame has been smoking so much over the years that if he stoped now it would probably do more harm than good, infact he's been warned by his doctor that if he stops his diet that consists of mostly fags and whisky he could die. But otherwise he is absolutly fine.
Lemmy did and probably still does stuff a lot harder than tobacco:monster:
I started smoking at school, when I was either 16 or 17, and I'm still going. I smoke 2/3 packets a week which ends up at about 5-8 a day.
I'm quite fit as I play sport when I can, and I have to walk everywhere.
And I enjoy it, I'm not addicted, I can go days without a cigarette and not feel compelled to have one. The only bad thing is smoking before eating something.

1) Yes I have had the odd smoke. I only smoked when at parties whilst drinking though. I did it because I discovered that when I would drink I would get hungry, (and I really didn't think I could stomach actual food when drinking) however after a smoke my hunger went away.

Another big part in me smoking was my boyfriend at the time. He was a really bad influence and when we ended so did the smoking. However I was never smoking on a daily basis. Just the occasional party on a weekend.

2A) Never smoked daily. I don't have an addictive mind for anything. It's good to know that I would never have to give anything up because I'm not addicted to anything. >_<

The girlfriend even picked up smoking because of me, in which I hang my head every day for.

That is really weird that she would take up smoking just because you do it. I mean every boyfriend I've had has smoked and yet I have only had a few smokes myself with only one boyfriend in particular, and yet never let myself get addicted. =/

Did you let her mooch smokes off you every now and then before she got addicted?

I don't smoke tobacco unless in a spliff, which these days I am very partial too quite often as a lot of you will know. I don't touch it if it's not mixed with the green stuff however.

Green is better smoked on it's own in my opinion. The tabacco gives it a nasty taste. Not that I've done it enough to care. >_<

^ You can't smoke green on it's own: it just doesn't burn. Closest you can get to it is a blunt, which is a cigar, with the tobacco around it taken out. Then you stuff green inside.

I smoke tobacco daily except on weekends. I usually have around 10 King Sizes a day. Never tried to quit, simply because I don't want to.

You can with a pipe. It's the only way I've ever done it.

Nothing to be proud of though. <_<

Or just cut open a can and use a lighter to light it and inhale from where'd you normally drink. But you inhale a great deal of normal smoke from doing that, which is not something that you really notice at the time.
Also let's try to avoid one or two line posts in the future please.

1) Have you ever smoked? (reasons for doing so or not doing so)
During high school I smoked occasionally, I used to really enjoy smoking while drinking.

2A) Have you smoked daily and if so how many?
Nope, I don't think I ever got addicted to the stuff. I only used to smoke on weekends and during the holidays.

2C) What was the longest you quit, if so?
The last time I had a cigarette was almost three years ago. While I liked smoking when I first started out, they started giving me headaches after a while. So that made quitting pretty easy for me.

I tried that once, and I was surprised at how effective it was. Seen as the concept seems pretty dodgy. :monster:

It is better but I do enjoy sitting back and relaxing with a rolled spliff. I put very little tobacco in (just enough for it to burn) and I tend to use flavoured papers (Juicy Jays!) so it tastes nice.

Having a blunt is being abit ambitious though. I'm always fucked after a blunt without fail so I just do it occationaly when I haven't got anything to worry about that day.

I used to do pipes but I just missed the satisfication of holding a spliff and chilling out. Plus I noticed it didn't do as much as it once did. Still good for a quick top-up tho.

Oh I know that feeling all too well xD

I'm partially withLagunas_Dream on this one, if I tried cutting down, I never actually quit...Id just gradually smoke more again over time, but when I decide right, fuck it, Ive had enough, I just stop. Put up with the crabbiness for a few days/weeks whatever and then Im fine, and get the odd occassional pang for a cigarette

I'd never consider using the gum, patches or that gay inhalator thing ever. The hardest part requires will power anyway.... and they are more fucking expensive than the fags themselves :gasp:

I completely understand that people work differently, coughing up all sorts of shit whern you decide to quit isnt pleasant either, can't say Ive ever had the sickness though...that'd be grim.... :gasp:

The hardest thing for me is when Im raging and I feel like I need a cigarette to calm me fown, that's when th eold will power gets tested and it's fuicking pushing it today I tell thee >.>

I have never smoked, and I do not intend to either. EVER. I have seen what it does to people, saw what it did to someone who I loved dearly - I wasn't even one of those kids who tried it once. NEVER. I'm very happy I have stayed this way, I just hope people quit in time before they really mess themselves up.

Smoking really is not that bad, I do it like five times a day and nothing is wrong with me, and if something does happen its my fault

Ignorant statement much? It's not bad? Have you seen how messed up people can get because of it? My Nanna coughed constantly because she used to smoke all the time. You might say that now about yourself, but just you wait until you get older -you might get yourself lung cancer.

No, No I didn't let her mooch off me nor have I ever. I didn't mean I got her started, I just mean I contributed greatly to it because I already was smoking around her. It's the users choice if he or she starts or not. Now I can't quit because she smokes more often than I do.. it's like a never ending loop.

I am the sort of the "in the closet smoker", I'll smoke in my car or non obvious places where hardly anyone can see me; sort of like how an alcoholic will hide liquor bottles all over the house. I of course smoke on my patio too freely, but that's usually after a long day of work. I'll smoke to enjoy it on occasion but most of these times it is because of the feeling. Furthermore, I just do it for my own benefit these days, as I feel the smoke hit my head as well as my lunges.. it makes me even more "chilled" out or relaxed than before. You can relate it like this, it's like those people who drink a glass of red wine before they go to bed; that's my cigarette. The only difference is I do it 3-5 times a day.

Trust me I'm a very hygienic person too, I hate the feeling and taste of tar on my teeth and hate the smell of smoke in/on my hair/clothes.. so I brush my teeth every chance I can get and as well febreeze (deodorize) my stuff down after smoking. So smoking to me is a very dusgusting habit for me in general. I don't mind anyone elses second hand smoke unless of course I'm eating. Thank god Oxford, MS put a smoking ban in at pubicly owned businesses and at FNCinc (privately owned) where I work.

Smoking in public or a bar doesn't bother me a whole lot, but if it's in a restaurant or someplace with food it's annoying.

I used to smoke cigarettes fairly frequently, but then I just decided it was a worthless habit and quit. I will occasionally smoke a cigar with my friends or to just relax. I don't really see the point of smoking cigarettes, but cigars are fantastic.

I don't mind people smoking, at the end of the day they're aware of the risk and if they want to take it then it's up to them, they have their own free will and choices, it's basically the same as drinking or drugs, if you choose to do it then fair play. I'm not gonna think of anyone any less because they smoke.

I personally despise the thought of smoking because I've had a grandad who died of it and went through pain and also it's a huge money loss if it's regular, the only thing that annoys me about other people smoking is if it's passive and they know you're stood there, if they don't smoke near me I couldn't care less. :)

I don't smoke and I have no desire to smoke myself. I know the risks and it's just not worth it to me.

I don't mind the people who do smoke, it's there choice and what not, but I'd rather not stick around for the second hand smoke (although I've been exposed to quite a bit already just by sticking with my friends who go for their smoke break or whatever >_>)

I don't smoke, I tried it once and it was shitty so I decided not to smoke ever again >_>

I don't mind smoking but just not near me, I'm not able to breathe if they were near me D= since my dad smokes a lot and I have to put up with it -__- but now he's not allowed to smoke near me since he did cause me to get sick. >_>;

I don't smoke, never even tried it. I don't really care if others do it, it's up to them and at the end of the day - it's them who are being exploited, not me.

I just hate the smell of it, especially when my friend smokes at college, some of the really cheap cigarettes smell VILE D= Like I said, I don't mind if others smoke, as long as they don't smoke around me, it's vile and horrible, and second hand smoke doesn't need to be inflicted on the rest of us =/
