[RP] Final Fantasy IX: Scars of Terra

"Wrong! Remember what the textbooks said about Kuja's words? He discovered that Trance can be induced. Ergo, if I'm not wrong, anyone can go into Trance, given the right stimulus!"

"Textbooks?! You spouting theories at a time like this?" the claw wielding genome yelled.

Lan felt the serpent
weaken a bit as he looked to see the genome knight hit it with some sort of attack Lan didn't see. The attack had the opposite effect as it thrashed even harder to the point that if Lan were to fly off, one very painful landing only awaited him. Fates must hate Lan even more as the claw decided to release itself while the tail was thrashing upward towards the sky. Lan was sent skyward as he reached the appex of the sudden launch. Lan turned and started to fall when an idea hit him.

"what do I have to lose now." Lan smiled as he aimed himself for his strike. As he fell, Lan saw his chance as he fell past the monster's face. He made a mad swipe at the beast's face with his cat claw. Most of the strike failed to connect. One part of the strike did connect though. The left eye of the beast was cut badly as Lan left a decent size cut in it making that eye more then useless. The thrill of the attack connecting faded painfully as Lan smashed into the ground. Pulling himself out from the ground, Lan limped off to his comrades. Once regrouped with them, Lan pulled off his traveling pack and rummaged for a potion, pulled one out, and took a deep gulp of it. The pain of his recent landing started to fade away slowly as the potion took effect.

"It's left eye is useless. Ri, we're going after that overgrown bird's head." Lan yelled as the potion took away more of his pain. Soon enough, the pain faded enough for Lan to move decently enough as he rushed the monster again.

Garnet Til Alexandros XVII, Queen of Alexandria

"Feel free. This castle is open to you, though the inner areas will only be open once you are recognized."

Looking at Aaron with a gentle smile, Garnet added,"I'm looking forward to seeing you soon, Aaron."

With this business done for the time being, she nodded as an affirmation granting him permission to leave. Turning away from Aaron, she walked up the stairs, careful with every step not to tread on her dress.

Alleria Stormseeker

"Anyone who can heal, tend to the most wounded. One person cover the healer, One person keep that bird distracted. Caster, focus your spells on the summoner, melee fighters on the summoner. The easiest way to beat an Eidolon is to kill its summoner!"

"I'm coming, I'm coming!"

High on adrenaline, Alleria was more aware than she had ever been in battle. Even as the thrashing of the serpent came her way, she managed to side step. She wasn't so lucky with the second one, tripping and attempting a rather haphazard roll. It did see her get back on her feet quickly, and well ready for a direct attack on the Bishop.

With the serpent busy, apparently with a good hit from Lan, Alleria was now clear to attack the Bishop. Robert himself was also there, so it ultimately came down to which among them will strike first. Although Alleria was the competitive type, this time, she didn't feel the urge to 'win' by getting the Bishop down.

Is this how it feels working in a team?

Shrugging the thought away, she quickly attempted a Mirage Maneuver. She began to move faster, and as she approached the Bishop, she released a horizontal slash, hoping to catch the Bishop in the arms at least.

"Rule no# 1 of battle: Never underestimate your opponent."

"Then prove it to me, rat-face!!!" The Bishop said as she saw Robert charge in. He jumped forward, faster than she would be able to get another spell in, and barely managed to block the swing with her staff, but she was weak in the physical department and he was in trance, and the strike broke through, giving her a cut on the side of her face, giving her a scar.

Cursing her bad luck, it started to get worse when Alleria and Annelise continued their attack as well. One swung a horizontal swing going leftward aiming for her left arm, while the other launched a diagonal swing aiming for her right leg.

Panting from the blood loss, She used whatever focus she could on calling on Quetzalcoatl for support. The feathered serpent flew upwards, away from an attacking Lan and Rior, and flew in to cover its master, using the Eidolon's own body as a meat shield for the knight's two swords. The summon started to dissipate into light, its master unable to retain her focus on keeping Quetzalcoatl in this realm.

"It seems....I've...underestimated you..." The Bishop said, panting, and coughing up blood. She of course was down on one knee, tired, wounded and defeated, but "But...this isn't the end...we'll finish this soon enough."

"No, this ends now!" Annelise said, raising her sword up to strike her down. But before the Alexandrian Knight could finish her, The Bishop placed her right hand on the ground, and shouted "Teleport!!!" Anne was blinded by a bright white light.

As soon as the light dissipated, The Oeilvert Lord-General disappeared, most likely defeated.

"She got away..." Anne said looking down, having failed to avenge her comrades' death.

Alexandria Castle Inside to Lindblum Airship

"Feel free. This castle is open to you, though the inner areas will only be open once you are recognized."

Looking at Aaron with a gentle smile, Garnet added,"I'm looking forward to seeing you soon, Aaron."

Aaron Pick's up his sword and place's it on his back, smiling he hopes to find this Amarant and try to get his Approval,He begin's his search inside going from kitchen's to balcony's spending hour's scouring the huge Castle,he searches the final room he's allowed to go into and hear's a few guard's chatting

Alexandrian Guard #1: Did you hear where Master Amarant's was sent to?

Alexandrian Guard #2:No where did He get sent to this time?

Alexandrian Guard #1: Oeilvert though we dont know the detail's,guess it's above our pay grade..

Aaron:...Seriously....I've never even been to Oeilvert...

Scratches his head in frustration thinking of what to do next and he hear's the guard's talk about something else

Alexandrian Guard #1:Also I heard Cleyra is now officially occupied by the Oeilvert Army.

Alexandrian Guard #2:Really..wonder what's going on there..

Alexandrian Captain:Hey you two are you slacking off again! I bet your chatting up a storm like alway's this is the Castle what if Lady Garnet was walking by!

Alexandrian Guard #1&2:Yes Ma'am sorry Ma'am!

The Two guard's run off in a panic, the Captain shakes her head in dissapointment and walks after them.

Aaron:Cleyra huh..if the Oeilvert Army is there may be able to learn some more info on Amarant,Might be able to get some reputation by giving them a hand with whatever they're doing there too..

I don't think Airship's travel to Cleyra so I guess I'll hop on a Airship to Lindblum and go through Gizamaluke's Grotto to get there..

With that said Aaron run's back to the boat, ride's it back to the City, and begin's running toward's the Airship,he huff's and puff's barely making it to the last Airship heading off to Lindblum,He pay's the Ticket master and walks up the plank,as he sit's down to rest the Airship begin's to move

Aaron:Any Slower and I would have missed it..

Lan Ester

The beast got away before he could deal a fatal blow to it. Lan sighed as he looked over to the knights and saw that Bishop also got away, but not unscathed. Jogging over to the knights, Lan sighed.

"She'll be back along with the other 5 generals if she could have her way." Lan muttered as he put his claw away. He looked over to the genome knight, then over to the human knight who looked like she failed at something. Lastly, his gaze fell upon the burmecian knight that made the battle ending blow. He walked up to the knights and placed a hand on the brown haired knight's shoulder.

"Before the fighting began, Ri and I never did get all of your names now did we?" Lan muttered trying to lighten up the mood.

Robert Crescent

The battle was over, but the danger was not. The summoner and her Eidolon had fled, but now they had to make their way to Burmecia with haste. The king needed to be made aware of what the enemy had at their disposal.

"Anyone who can use healing magic, please tend to the wounded. We must make haste for Burmecia. While I have every faith that Burmecia can handle anything that's thrown at it, we need to expose every ace the enemy may have up its sleeve. And if Cleyra truly is conquered, we must work out a strategy to rescue who we can and work on a plan to retake Cleyra." Robert spoke. Now more than ever, he wanted to return home before things got worse. Not just to speak with the king, but he worried about his mother. Freya was the head of the recon team that was sent to Cleyra before he left to go to Alexandria. He needed to know that she was safe.

He turned to the man who asked for names. Robert gave a nod to the man and gave him a brief introduction. "I am Robert Crescent, son of Sir Iron-Tail Fratley and Lady Freya Crescent, Burmecia's two greatest Dragon Knights." he introduced himself quickly before turning to the others, seeing if anyone needed immediate aid.

Rior Laistan

The fight was a hectic one. The Burmecian tranced, something Rior had never seen in his life and all the knights and even Lan worked together to scare off the Bishop. Unfortunately Rior had been too scared to move. The monster it literally scared him stiff.

He was so ashamed, he looked to his feet as they ran and sighed. Now his lie he told the violet haired girl was definitely unbelievable.

"Anyone who can use healing magic, please tend to the wounded. We must make haste for Burmecia. While I have every faith that Burmecia can handle anything that's thrown at it, we need to expose every ace the enemy may have up its sleeve. And if Cleyra truly is conquered, we must work out a strategy to rescue who we can and work on a plan to retake Cleyra." The boy named Robert announced.

Well Rior could use healing magic, he guessed he could help in that department, too bad Clerya was conquered. He would have loved to visit...and if he was stronger, perhaps he could actually set out on his quest to save them...but not yet, he was clearly not read.

"I can use healing magic"
He finally replied. "Is any one here wounded or in need of assistance?"

Lan Ester

"I can use healing magic. Is any one here wounded or in need of assistance?"

Lan waved his hand as the potion started to wear off. "Yeah That would be me. I crash landed into the ground taking an eye out of that thing and the potion's effect is starting to wear off." Lan muttered before wincing as slowly growing pain. He then turned to Robert as he introduced himself.

"Robert eh. Nice to meet ya." Lan replied as he looked from him to the brown haired girl, then to the violet haired girl. "So what would be your names?" Lan asked.

((OOC: Played out a Random Battle since my character hasn't had much of a chance to get into combat))

Stephen watched as the battle raged, and he couldn't get involved, the searing pain from the thunder spell was beginning to fade away. "man, i sucked there" Stephen muttered to himself. Looking around he checked out how other people were fairing after the fight.

"Everyone alright?" Stephen asked before turning too face Robert "nice trick, first time i have ever seen anyone trance" Stephen spoke like it was something to be ashamed of. He then turned to head towards Buremacia "we should get going, those of us who can anyway, the others should camp out here to heal and rest up" Stephen announced.

Alleria Stormseeker

And so, Alleria's instincts proved themselves right yet again. Robert was indeed the son of the legendary Fratley and Freya. Shocked as she was, there was also an amount of amusement. Although the moment was inappropriate, she had to tender her challenge at that instant.

Nevertheless, she started by answering the questions of the two Genomes.

"I'm Alleria Stormseeker, Knight of Ipsen."

Noticing Rior's embarrassed expression, she remembered his talk earlier about being a Knight. This battle clearly disproved that. Still, Alleria didn't want to rub salt into his wound. Quickly averting her gaze before he noticed, she walked over to Robert.

Coming closer, she hesitated before speaking,"Hey, Robert. I apologize for this bad choice of timing, but one day after this mission, I will challenge you to a duel. You won't back away from this, will you? I'm a good fight."

Just as she said that, Stephen came to Robert.

"Everyone alright? Nice trick, first time i have ever seen anyone trance. We should get going, those of us who can anyway, the others should camp out here to heal and rest up."

Aaron picks his sword up after his rest is over and proceed's inside to the grotto he looks around at the Grotto seeing that it's still teeming with monster's,he walks past the guard station and crosses the brige as he enter's the 1st room he see's a Lamia blocking the door to the next room.

Aaron:Huh that's a bit odd for a monster to just sit there and guard a door...

He walk's up the step's and has his sword at hand, the Lamia has a Dagger in her hand, she lift's it up and charges at Aaron cutting his leg with it

Aaron: Ow! I gotta use other skill's on this I cant afford to lose much health..

He move's back and jump's toward's the Lamia swinging down but she blocks the sword with her Tail Fan,he lifts back and swings to the side cutting her tail off,The Lamia get's furious and uses might,it glow's with a Red Aura with a murderous look on it's face..

Aaron:..Heh I think I made her mad....

She sweep's her blade down and Aaron block's it with his sword but due to might's power it knock's him back down the step's,it moves down in order to finish him off,As it lift's it's blade into the Air Aaron thrusts his sword through her chest,it drops it's dagger and stoop's over dead,Aaron pushes the lamia to the side and pant's,he sits on the step's and tend's to his cut's

Robert Crescent

"That's pretty sudden, but when there's time for it, I have no qualms about a spar. And pleasure to meet the rest of you."
Robert spoke before he began to head towards Burmecia. He'd let those staying behind to heal up do so, since they would be safer as a group, while those who were plenty able to carry one could travel ahead of the rest towards Burmecia.

While he didn't want to really leave anyone behind, he felt it urgent that King Puck be advised about the enemy's ability to call in Eidolons that have not been seen before, especially that two of them were lightning-based. Such knowledge would allow for the Burmecian military to prepare for such attacks.

Lan Ester

Lan saw Robert started walking toward Burmeica and thought for a second. Without another thought, Lan got up and opened his pack. From his pack he pulled out his green robe and quickly put it on before turning to Rior.

"Ri, hang around with the ladies here. I'll go with Rob to Burmecia. Meet ya there." Lan said before he pulled his pack up and started running to Rob. With a few short strides, Lan caught up with Rob.

"Sooo... is there anything good to eat in Burmecia?" Lan asked as he put the hood up on his green robe over his head while his mind ran from the battle over to wondering how the city looked like and what sorts of tasty meals he can enjoy while his tail twitched in anticipation.

Stephen noticed as Robert headed towards Buremacia, "what a course of Events" he thought to himself as he followed Robert, and Lan, "hey guys, wait for me" he jested as he caught up, he had no idea why he was following them, he knew they could handle themselves, but he could infact pull them out of a tight spot.

"my magic could come in useful, after all, fire is a powerful thing" he informed them a hint of joke in his voice, he knew it wouldn't take long to reach Buremacia, after all it didn't take him long to reach the crash site.

Sir Fratley
Robert Crescent

"General Fratley! There's been an emergency!" once of the Burmecian knights called out as he charged into the throne room. Fratley diverted his attention from King Puck and his daughter Queen Lilly to listen to the knight's report. "What is it?" Fratley asked.

"The Alexandrian reinforcement ship was taken down by a bolt of lightning! The tower guard said it landed not to far away. However, more lightning was found coming from the ground itself shortly afterwards." the knight reported with a still frantic, yet professional tone of voice.

"Lightning from the ground shortly after the ship was struck by lighting, and in the same general area. Something tells me this isn't a coincidence." Fratley spoke as he pondered things over. After some thought, he looked back up to the knight. "Very well. Since my wife is back in Burmecia, I will head out with a small squad to go investigate the site. Run a message to Freya to hold down the fort." Fratley commanded in a calm yet commanding tone of voice.

"Yes General!" The knight replied before running off. Fratley headed out and gathered a team of ten knights to accompany him out of Burmecia.

After a bit of traveling on foot, Fratley came across a group just beginning to head out of the forest a little ways away form the crash site. However, he immediately recognized his son as one of them. There were also some wounded among the group. "You five! Go get the wounded and escort them to the infirmary. The rest of you will form a protective escort for the others."

"Yes General!" the Burmecian knights echoes in unison. They began heading towards the group to give aid while those accompanying Fratley headed for Robert.

"I'm glad to see you're alive, son. I didn't expect you would be on that ship. Can you tell me what happened?" Fratley spoke as he turned to walk with Robert back to Burmecia.

"I'm glad to see you father. What happened is Olivert has a summoner on their side. They attacked the ship with a horse Eidolon, and then the summoner confronted us, the survivors, and summoned a lightning bird Eidolon. We managed to beat her, but she teleported before we could land a killing blow." Robert replied to his father before pointing back at the ones following him. "These three came in to assist us. They're not part of the reinforcements, but they were bystanders caught up in the mess. Lan, Rior and Stephan are the bystanders. Alleria and Annelise are the only parts of the Alexandrian reinforcements that survived the crash." Robert explained.

Fratley's face showed a bit of worry at this news. "Eidolons, huh? That's going to make things a bit more difficult Fortunately, Burmecia has an Eidolon of our own, thanks to the gift that Princess Eiko gave us. And even if that should not be enough, he have several other defenses we can use to shut down even the mighty Bahamut."

Robert crossed his arms as he walked, his lance attached to his back. "She also said that Cleyra fell. I'm not sure if it was simply to demoralize us in battle or if it is true. Has there been any news from Cleyra?" Robert asked.

Fratley gave a nod to Robert's question. "Cleyra surrendered peacefully, a smart move all things considered. While it means Olivert has a foothold for the moment, we will begin operations to evacuate the Cleyrans into Burmecia to prevent Oeilvert from using them as hostages for bargaining. Your mother has already secured an escape route, and we will begin operations as soon as we get the signal. All we can do until then is wait." Fratley explained.

Lan Ester

Lan could not believe that he was standing in front of THE Iron tail Fratley. He looked at the famed Burmecian knight as he states that Freya has secured an escape route and that they were already set to rescue the people of clerya. Lan smiled nervously as he started fingering the front of his green robe.

"So Mr. Fratley, umm... how soon will the operation will start? Granted, I'm no more then a civillian, but I'm willing to help on behalf of Zidane's sister Mikoto and the Black Mage Village." Lan said looking at the dragon knight.

Annelise Steiner

Sometime after the Bishop teleported, a group of Burmecian Dragon Knights arrived to the field. One of them, a man with a nice looking hat and light armor began talking with the other Burmecians, before they went to help people tend to their wounds and escort them to Burmecia. Annelise immediately recognized him as Robert's father, Sir "Iron-Tail" Fratley, Commander of the Royal Burmecian Army.

Slowly getting onto her feet. Annelise sheathed her sword and looked at Robert, who was talking with Fratley on Cleyra, and on future plans of what to do next. Her arm was still a bit stiff from the crash, but at least her leg had healed up pretty well. She walked up towards the two, and as Lan finished speaking. Annelise spoke to the General as well "Sir Fratley, has Alexandria or Lindblum been informed of Oeilvert's summoner?"

To be honest, although the objective was clear, Oeilvert's military capability was nothing but a big blur, in the two years since the Civil War, Oeilvert's rearmament was quick as it was mysterious. No doubt Cleyra's survivors and military would tell in full detail whatever atrocities the Oeilvertites committed in their battle.

----
The Bishop and The Brandish

A Flash of Light suddenly appeared by the crash site, the area where The Bishop saw the Enterprise crash. Moving backwards until she touched the rock wall, she gripped her side which was bleeding profusely. Concentrating all her magic energy as she could, the Bishop's hand, and her wound glowed, the wounds began to close up at a rapid rate, and once they finally closed, she gasped for air.

"That rat, damn him!!!" The Bishop cursed at her defeat to Robert, Annelise and her allies. "Damn him, and those knights."

"You're late....Rose."

Theme-Moonlit Vision

The Bishop looked around and was surprised to see another female standing over a large sword that someone planted on the ground. Her cape was tattered, her light armor, full of holes and areas that were bleeding, yet she seemed uninjured. Her blonde-white hair flowing in the distance.

"Well well, if it isn't The Brandish. So you survived the crash after all..." The Bishop said almost tauntingly.

The Brandish breathed in deeply, "How long has it been since I was called by that name?"

Walking up towards her colleague, or so it seemed, Rose spoke. "Do you think I care about how long it has been? My question is, are you going to fight with those insignificant and uncivilized Kingdoms of this continent or are you going to return to Lord Cyril, like a good little girl?"

The Brandish picked up her sword, swung it in a diagonal downward swing to remove any dirt and debris and finally sheathed it in her sheath between the light armor and her cape.

"So be it..." The Brandish turned to face The Bishop, her Silver-eyes peering down on the Bishop, Rose. "...Take me to him." She walked up to her as the woman began twirling her staff, a light beginning to surround the two. The Brandish at first thought of the Bishop "Still an arrogant woman. No matter, Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before the fall..."

The light steadily grew stronger until it fully enveloped them, within a flash, they were gone once again. The last thoughts the Brandish had in mind was "Annelise..."

Cleyra

"Northwest Quadrant XVI has been checked and cleared, sir. No evidence of any relic, and no clue as to where it could be hidden. I'm beginning to think the Cleyrans managed to scurry away with it before we could stop them."

The Oeilvertian general waved his hand in a gesture of dismissal to the reporting archaeologist. The man sat in a chair inside a field tent in the sands of the now occupied city of Cleyra. The incursion had been remarkably successful, and they now controlled vitrually every aspect of Cleyran life. But their one failure had been in locating any trace of the relic the Cleyrans were alleged to have held in their possession. And that one failure tarnished any other success they may have had, for that was their true purpose in Cleyra. Finding the relic was of paramount importance.

After several moments' pause, the general turned to the red-haired figure sitting in silence in the corner. "Of course you realize there is only one area that is left to be checked."

"Of course," replied the red-haired man, disdain dripping from each syllable.

"And you will be the one to clear the area."

"Of course."

"I'll send a corps of men with y-"

The red-haired man interrupted the general unapologetically. "No need."

"Amarant, the antlion is nothing to sne-"

"I said 'no need.'" After a few tense moments of silent power struggle between the two men, the general acquiesced. Amarant would go into the den of the antlion alone in search of the Cleyran Relic.
