I came across this video today and thought it was pretty cool:

I dunno, maybe I'm just a geek but I've always been really fascinated by this stuff. Apparently it can also open doors, just like the raptors in Jurassic Park...:hmmm:

Dude... That's pretty fraking awesome right there. Though I can't help but think of SKYNET when I look at it. Robots are getting pretty smart. Kind of makes you think of Scilons. O_O

Thanks for sharing. I do an engineering course so this type of stuff interests me.

I've seen robots so some crazy things like pick themselves back up and stopping themselves from falling on slippery surfaces.

They're getting pretty advanced. If they take over the world, we can't unplug them because they'll just plug themselves back in. :gasp:

That's kind of scary to be honest. >.<

I'm not a real fan of robots. They'll end up evolving and make humans their slaves soon enough. <_<

But it is still pretty cool regardless. =)

haha that's what im thinking!

XD

I mean, I hear that you can have sex with a robot O_O scary shit right there like wtf? I think I heard it on the Stephen Colbert report :hmmm:

I mean, it's cool to watch it I guess but im going nowhere near them lol.

its amazing how technology is these days :hmmm: fantastic.

That's insane. I'm not a big technology fan but a robot learning to do that is undeniably interesting. I suppose it's only a matter of time before robots are part of our daily lives

and in the 58 minutes it takes this one to plug itself back in you couldve taken a hammer to its processor.

theyre not getting smart. they do what we tell them to do; and that particular one isnt learning anything. it goes through the same process with every socket ie thrusting the plug at the wall til it fits, if it learned anything it wouldnt take so long to successfully plug in the next time round. what makes humans "intelligent" is that we're so incredibly stupid a lot of the time and often for no apparent reason, we also (are supposed to) possess something called common sense. they might be able to learn things that we don't "teach" them but they'll never be able to understand or display REAL human qualities. thats why they call it artificial intelligence. (lecture much :wacky:)

:lew: we might not be their slaves but machines certainly seem to rule our lives for the most part.

im not even remotely impressed with that video.:mokken:

58 minutes to open a few doors and plug in a few times (and appear to not learn from it at all) is shit.

Rofl i must agree with jimmers and admit that that wasnt impressing one bit.
I dont see why people fuss so much about robots. I dont think in our time or in the near future theres gonna be things cleaning our houses for us and getting shopping. That all sounds like a scientific fantasy to me. IM happy with a microwave and simple things. Besides even if it WAS possible theres no chance it would be affordable to us commoners. As much of a pain in the ass hoovering etc can be, its not really a big deal and anyone who's to lazy to do it themselves is just spoiled imo.
Il save seeing robots til the next time i go to the movies.
