This is the Trailer for the latest Resident Evil Movie

I personally am NOT looking forward to this. I can already see SO many things wrong with it, the most obvious being Wesker. Since when is Wesker a brunette Sauron wannabe?

I also don't like how they've decided to move away from the zombies that the first three films were about, and switch to the Plagas creatures of RE4 and RE5, more specifically the Type 2 Plagas seen in RE5. I know that the games did the same thing, but from what I saw of Resident Evil Extinction the world was infected by the T-Virus, so I'm wondering where the Plagas come into this. I also Don't like Alice's Dual Katana and Shuriken... Last I checked, those weren't available weapons in a Resident Evil game...

One thing I do like, is the addition of Chris Redfield to the story. He's being played by Wentworth Miller, and although I've really not seen much with him in it, he looks a good deal LIKE Chris Redfield, at least like his RE5 appearance.

What are your thoughts on the trailer, and will you see this film?

After seeing the trailer.. here what I can say..

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE ZOMBIES!? why Las Plagas all of a sudden!? RE:Extinction ended with a scene of zombies all over the world.. and.. the person playing the role of Wesker.. he is not the original Wesker from the past series right?.

and somehow it feels more like Matrix than Resident Evil to me.. but still I think I'm gonna watch this...

EDIT:what the!? sorry but I did not intend to double post.. something happened to my internet connection.. then after posting this.. I saw that post above.. sorry
EDIT:I deleted it already

I LOVE resident evil the games, but the films are absolute PANTS.
as you said i can also see a dozen things wrong with the film already.
why can't they just keep to zombies instead of trying to change things to much to keep up with the new games which we all know are not as great as the older ones.
and since its going to be in 3D, you know its just going to be going over the top with things "flying" out of the screen.
too much trying to impress the new audiences rather than keeping us hardcore fans interested.

To be fair, the movies have never claimed to follow the continuity of the video games that they're based on. And I'm pretty sure that a majority of Resident Evil fans (or at the very least, the more vocal ones) have disliked this series of movies since the first one.

That said, the movies have been getting increasingly ridiculous. Back when the third one hit theaters, a friend and I went to see it because we liked the first two. We were pretty disappointed in the third one, but reluctantly agreed that we'd probably get suckered into seeing the next one. I really don't think the Zombie/Plagas switch is that terrible, considering that they've already given Alice super powers, have a bajillion clones of her at their disposal, and have put zombies in matching gloves and jumpsuits and have made them out to be henchmen more than zombies. Plus, they'll probably find some way to explain it--I doubt it will be a random switch that they pulled while hoping no one would notice. They'll probably claim that the virus evolved, or something. It'll be bearable

But I can definitely see this movie abusing the 3-D feature, as Snake mentioned. The trailer itself revealed as much. You're going to throw shuriken at me? Okay, that's pretty intense. You're going to dramatically hurl a pair of sunglasses at me? Um... huh?

Anyway, I'm probably going to see this movie. Because I've been a fan of the series up to now, I love me an occasional zombie flick, I like action movies.

Something they could do to make the movies better, though: bring back Sienna Guillory as Jill Valentine. Now there's a handsome lady.

Was I seeing two Alices towards the last few seconds or was one of them Claire? Kinda hard to tell. I know Claire's still in it and it's good to see more action from her.

All in all, I still want to see this movie. Currently playing through RE5 atm (bought it yesterday). I'm pretty much with West on this. Zombies, plagas, whichever - just as long as it's action movie and keeps me entertained, I won't make a big deal out of it. It's just meh, whatever happens, I guess.

Rofl

Any fan of the games will agree that the movies were pretty damn terrible but i think they make fairly ok action movies if you just try and forget its supposed to be resident evil xD
The third film imo was by far the worst so, i dunno, i cant really say im too interested in this film. Sure il watch it but im really not expecting anything great. An average action movie will probadly be what we'l all see.

I sure am going to watch this. I can't wait, either.

When you compare the films to the game, it's a disappointment, which is why I just don't do it. It did bother me a bit at first, but they're really enjoyable to watch. I see the movies for how and what they are, and I enjoy the fuck out of them. I'm excited to see Milla kick some more ass.

For me the movies are a Milla Jovovich Slasher movie focusing on Milla Jovovich slashing stuff. This time she is doing it in the Resident Evil universe.
Away from that.

I like the movies quite well actually. I look upon them as a alternate RE universe in compared to true RE universe. When I think about it that way the movies become far more pleasurable for me too watch, and I love a piece of Milla Jovovich and Ali Larter.

The fourth movie I hope will be the last one, they don't have much else to go on unless they want to drag in Sheva and Rebecca Chambers from god knows where. I am looking forward to the movie as they are great action movies overall and have always cought my attention.

The trailer really surprised me on several ways. Finally Claire (Ali Larter) get's some more screen time and can share it with Alice (Milla Jovovich). The third movie had Claire, Alice, Alice, Alice, Claire, Claire left, Alice, Alice, Alice, a gajillion Alice, so this trailer have my hopes up there. I am however annoyed that Chris (Wentworth Miller) could only be seen in one scene and that is if you look really closely or pause when Wesker's glasses fly across the room. The reflection of Chris and Claire will be seen in the glasses.

Also Alice with katana's and shurikens. When you saw Alice and Alice jump through the glass towards the end of the trailer, it is seen as they have both very long hair wile original Alice still sports the sexy short haired look. I would say both Alice in the black tight suits are a pair of the clones from the third movie.

But, that's just my theory and I have put all to much into this than I expected I would. Even for being a trailer discussion.

I probaply could not have said it any better Cat.

Never played any of the games to even be bothered by all the technical stuff.

I have all the movies on DVD and love them. <3

They're really entertaining and no doubt this one will be just as good. I'm considering playing the games soon, but not before this movie.

I've been waiting for this movie to come out for a while now actually. :gonk: I knew the ending of the third was setting up the fourth movie. >.<

I love Milla Jovovich. <3

even if i didn't what i saw in the trailer. i'm still gonna watch it. but from what i have seen i don't think it will be a success because they moved away from the zombies that's just wtf because RE is all about the zombies. i don't see why the director wanted to take them away.

and wesker it didn't seem like it was the same acter as in the past movies. but hey this isn't reasons why i shouldn't watch the movie, only things that's gonna make the experience a little unworth. but who knows xD

It is true that the movies are far worse then that actual RE games. I did get confused by the fact that there is no more zombies :hmmm: I'm not really too bothered to see this. It didn't really interest me from watching the trailer. I'm sure its a good action movie i just dunno :hmmm:

If not, i'll rent it or something for the hell of it to see how it goes.

Just seen this tonight and sort of thought it was a bit of a filler.

It was good and quite enjoyable but nothing toooo exciting has happened in the third or fourth one in my opinion.

I loved 1 and 2 but the last two are building up for something really good I hope.

There has to be a fifth. There can't not be another movie after that ending. But I'm wondering when they're going to stop. I was surprised they even made a fourth movie. =0

I actually saw Wesker as nothing more than a Neo wannabe.

If you know next to nothing about the Resident Evil 5 video game then it's going to be somewhat confusing. The movie takes a lot of aspects from that game and doesn't explain it. In fact there are a lot of things in the film they don't explain all that well, not just all the things they ripped from Resident Evil 5.

I didn't even notice that the zombies had been replaced with Las Plagus. Shows you how much attention I've been paying. Jeez. But yeah there is certainly going to be a 5th movie and hopefully the 5th will be the last one because these things have really gone downhill. The first one was great, the second one was decent and the last two were just horrible IMO. Though I didn't like how Nemesis and Jill Valentine was handled in the second movie those were the only problems I had with it.

Oh yeah and Red Queen MADE the first Resident Evil movie. She should have pimp slap the other cast members for stealing her best quote in the entire film. The second time made sense. When Rain said it it just felt forced.

That's the end of my rambling.

Yes wtf it reminded me so much of The Matrix :ffs:
Bummer..:( this shows me how much I actually loved RE3 xD (movie)
and that huge guy with the meathammer thing ! WTF thats reminded me of SILENT HILL Movie...

I like when they got to the prison but the rest is all disapointing,,it wasnt horror survival anymore, it was plain MATRIX meets ZOmbies...

I loved the first 2 RE movies as well! The first one was by far the best!

For this movie, well, lets just say I didn't pay to see it and I'm glad I didn't. It's not worth paying an expensive movie ticket for and I have a feeling that if someone were to skip this movie they wouldn't me missing too much.

My review of this movie is that it's the worst in the seires so far. It's got some amazing scenes but it's all just so RUSHED -__-. I mean In the first 10 minutes I was so dissappointed how the scriptwriters decided to
take away Alice's powers
And I didn't like Wesker character at all. He just didn't seem like his origional character at all. I feel that the whole movie was blunt and predictable. There wasn't even alot of Zombie's in this one which disappointed me to no end. I wanted to at least see alot of Zombie killing. And the characters who eventually get infected aren't even killed off well. They just disappear as soon as a zombie touches them. I think the writers should be fired for bad scriptwriting. I mean what was the point of [spoilers]Alice getting powers if she was just going to lose them anyways?[/spoilers] The movie was also too short for me. It was like 1 hour and a giant cliffhangar ending.

This movie just reeked of a lack of creativity and bad plot developement...However I still love Alice to bits <3
