When people see a new piece of hardware, how much bang you get for your buck, is a totally reasonable point of discussion. The PC is a good bench mark for comparison because you can actually go out, find the exact components you want and an exact price.
pcgamer.com tried to see how much it would cost to build a PC of similar capabilities to the PS4 specs and ended up around the $600 mark. The new PC4 is said to launch at $429 and $529. The PC they put together is $600 today though, not $600 when the PS4 launch in November, so really, a pretty decent gaming PC doesn't have to cost a lot.
You make valid points however the pc shouldnt be talked about at all when it comes to consoles imo. I dont buy consoles for the superspecs nor for superior graphics. I admit HD is very amazing but I bought consoles for the special games consoles provide. Exclusives. Also unique features.
Like Tekken on PSX at the time. I cant imagine playing that with keyboard and mouse.
You are basically saying consoles are not worth it all cause a pc might be at same price and better. When it comes to specs perhaps, when it comes to graphics but those are not the main reasons people buy consoles. If it was, consoles would have been dead.
PSP, Vita, DS etc are just fail)

The stewpid estimates of the PS4's arrival said "No earlier than 2015". OH REALLY? REALLY?

Great for LEGO and all, makes loads of business sense for them. Respect. However, from my gaming perspective, I have to question why something like this is being released on the launch date and why games that I have been waiting nearly 5+ years for is still not in sight. Some gaming companies (not looking at Square Enix in particular
) should have had their act together and ensured that their much anticipated games (not looking at what was once called Final Fantasy XIII- Versus and is now redubbed as Final Fantasy XV because they took too long to make it, in particular) ready in time for PS4's debut into the market.
