how can that be the only one?! there are so many good ones.

one thing i did like about how i met your mother is that it has lyndsy fonseca in it. i'd tap that for a month

I wish you could dislike posts.

You English need to watch Still Game. Possibly the best thing to come out of Scotland since stovies.

It just revolves around 2 old sarcastic pensioners and theyre buddies who still act a bit young i spose. Hence the term 'still game' Id imagine americans would struggle to understand it due to the dialect. Its quite broad Glaswegian so alot of the jokes would be lost when you dont understand the terms. Its one of those shows you have to watch to see how great it is. Lots of swearing and vulgar jokes but its all done so well.

it sounds like the same sort of humor that's in 'it's always sunny in Philadelphia' :hmmm:

Hmmm theres nothing i could compare it too. My description really cant do it any justice at all. But its very scottish so it appeals to us most. Ive read many a post though about English people south of the border who love it aswell. Sadly the show stopped running many years ago. They need to revive it.

what it is that people see in american comedies? i've finally seen some bits of how i met your mother, and it's just awful

what about big bang theory? i mean, its cheesy sometimes but not the worst thing i could waste my time watching

i usually get my comedy from 4chan and trolling kids in wow though. or movies.

I like to watch Mulan every once and a while, there's nothing more manly than the i'll make a man out of you song

:damon: Oh my god, The Big Bang theory is the worst thing I've ever watched. It's not funny at all :|

I think I laughed at one episode when they were in a ball pit and that was only because I couldn't believe the crap I was watching.

big bang theory is all right. it's amazing that they've managed to get so far with it considering there's only one good character, and there's really only one joke. it's pretty much just replaced friends

The first season was good because they made some good intelligent jokes, trying to convince Sheldon he was a robot because he obeyed the Asimov laws for example. After that it just became Sheldon saying something, Penny asking what he meant, and the hobbit clarifying he was referring to something mundane

yeah i didnt watch it really extensively, maybe only like 10 episodes

but i can see how it could go like that

the first one i saw was sheldon with the world of warcraft episode, that made no fucking sense at all. something about an ostrich with a special fucking hat or something, nothing like that even exists in the game and the entire ordeal is about his account being stolen. the highlight of the episode was pretty much the end :ffs:

i did find raj being loaded but being a cheap guy pretty amusing however

after failing to steal his friends girlfriend he sleeps with penny lol

I quite like How I Met Your Mother. :sad3: But it did take time to grow on me; I thought it utterly stupid at first. :hmmm: Some of the shows you get from America like Everwood are absolutely fantastic, but I'm not fond of those like The Big Bang Theory. :hmm:

Do American shows make more money then those made in the UK? because I suppose it's possible that this causes them to build their show towards a certain audience, whilst shows made in the UK are a little more indie. :lew: I could be wrong there - I'm somewhat naive on the subject - but tv series like Black Books, Black Adder and Coupling look a little less glossy. They don't seem as mass produced.

TV series in the UK (let's not speak of soaps) also tend to run for a shorter period of time - 4 seasons of, say, 7 episodes instead of 8 seasons of 24 episodes - so there's less time for the jokes to get old, the characters to get boring and the plot lines to get too ridiculous. :lew:

I could still point to some pretty awful shows from the UK! Gok's Fashion Show... 10 Years Younger... How To Look Good Naked. Come Dine With Me; I absolutely love it because the guy who hosts it is fantastic and witty, but it is a bit awful. :wacky:

Im sorry but Im dutch and I think American sitcoms/shows are hilarious. This sounds awfully biased.

Scrubs, How I met your mother is decent, kings of queens, best is Fresh prince of Bel Air obviously and many more.
Fact most are populair. I dont like Californication though its full of shit imo.
