So lately I've been into old classic films. Specifically I went through Akira Kurosawa's masterpiece, Yojimbo and later tried it's spagetti western counterpart, For A Fistful of Dollars, whereupon I recalled how surprisingly hot Clint Eastwood was in his hayday. Color me impressed.

The last of the oldies I was into recently was Rear Window by Hitchcock. Its a great suspense noir film with a very interesting premise. I highly recommend it.

What about you guys, anyone into old classics?

I do enjoy some classics. Some of my favorites are Casablanca, the Maltese Falcon, Dracula, and some westerns like The Searchers or The Good, The Bad and the The Ugly. I like a lot of old movies. Mostly just westerns, horror and war movies though. Like The Dirty Dozen or Patton. And some of the old James Bond movies like Dr. No and You Only Live Twice. They hold good memories for me because I watched most of these with my parents, which were the people that first introduced me to them. I remember watching Kelly's Heroes with my Dad and anything with Cary Grant with my Ma. Good times indeed.

I like some old movies, but can't really think of any of them right now. The most recent one i saw was Tron. The graphics were aright of a 1982 film. The story was really good too, I also think it was better then the second one, but the second was an ok movie. I just hope they do not mess-up the third one IF they ever make one. I also saw some old Romanian movies that was filmed in America with english subtitles. if i remember it was called artista dolarii si ardelenii and there were 3 different parts.

There are many old movies I like. Night of the Living Dead, Psycho, Chinatown, Casablanca to name a few. I also like many old Disney movies such as Pete's Dragon, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Swiss Family Robinson, the original Parent Trap.

Though I do have to ask, what do you consider old?

I think Citizen Kane is one of the best movies ever made. Orson Welles is spectacular in it and he directs it very well. I've seen a couple of those old pulp fiction Dashiell Hammett movies like The Maltese Falcon but I didn't think they were that great. Bridge on the River Kwai is pretty good too. But my favourite old movies are the Ealing Comedies, especially the Alec Guinness ones.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
An unguarded moment
Meet Me in St. Louis
How to marry a millionaire
Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid
The Wizard of Oz

and so many more that I just can't keep track. :gonk: some of the best films I've seen are classics. :ryan:

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I thought this was for classic films only :wacky:

I saw the original Planet of the Apes a while back and I have to say I really enjoyed that. Even with the awful costumes and effects it was better than any of the modern ones by far(though I haven't seen the newest one yet, is it released even?). Charlton Heston was pretty good in it and teh story over all was well executed.

I've also seen the first Tron film which was pretty excellent also, young Jeff Bridges is just magical. The story is a little wishy washy but still well written and rather unique, and the characters are also relatively realistic.

there are loads of brilliant films pre-85. psycho, bridge over the river kwai, north by northwest, the vast majority of the bond films, the alien films, taxi driver. it's an extremely long list.

I love old Vincent Price movies,Solvent Green,Clockwork Orange.....There are so many good ones.
I Actually prefer the older films to new ones since the horror/thriller genre to me was far better done in that period of time.

I was about to ask "well, what is considered old, exactly?" and read an answer.

I like Some like it Hot (great movie, and funny), Living Dead, King Kong, Star Wars, Indiana Jones and a lot of Cowboy movies that the names escape me. xD

There are probably more I just can't remember. :P

I think Rear Window and Twelve Angry Men are both in my top five movies of all time. I've always had a soft spot for those movies that tend to stay in one place for the vast majority/entirity of the film. Breakfast Club is another that springs to mind (though hardly an old movie compared to those two).

Other Hitchcock oldies are fantastic. Rope (another all in one place film) and Shadow of a Doubt are great.

Any Vincent Price movies. He was such a great contribution to history in general. Such a grief he died before I was even born. I have Masque of Red Death and the House of Usher at home, and never gettired of watching them.

Also, Snow White and then Seven Dwarfs and Sleeping Beauty. Gotta love old-school Disneys.

Night of the Hunter
Roman Holiday
My Fair Lady
Ugetsu Monogatarii

I am really a Audrey Hepburn fan and a Gregory Peck fan, I like the horrors and the mysteries as well as the love stories -- even if they aren't happy.
I really like Asian love stories and Japanese tales too.

Vertigo
night of the living dead
Ben hurr
Spartacus
Jason and the argonauts
The great escape
the dirty dozen

Ive never been one to not watch a film because its old and dated. The above are easily some of my favourite movies. I bet theres loads im missing out on but thats whats coming to mind atm.

I like a lot of Judy Garland's, Clark Gable's, Audrey Hepburn's, and Bing Crosby's movies.

Of Judy's I like The Easter Parade, Wizard of OZ (Amazing...she was so lovely in that movie and her voice is like no other...as well as the fact that this movie was visually stunning because they learned how to make films in color with this one..) ...and I really did love Meet Me in St. Louis. The plot was decent and this has become a regular for me to watch during the holidays. Have yourself a merry little Christmas is one of my favorite Christmas songs.

Of Clark Gable's I obviously love Gone With the Wind. Its my favorite movie because the plot is unforgetable and the scenery in it was so beautiful...and the acting *gushes* I love everything about it, including the romance.

Audrey Hepburn made some decent movies too. I'm not really nuts about Breakfast at Tiffany's because I didn't particulary care for the plot too much...but it was okay. My Fair Lady was my favorite of hers.

Bing Crosby omg his voice :gonk: His acting was pretty decent too. I loved Holiday Inn, White Christmas, and The Easter Parade :ohoho:

I still to this day watch movies of the Marx Brothers. They were comedic geniuses.

i can't name hardly any, but I love old films, its my mums fault, we always end up watching summat old when am round hers. From the gene kelly, frank sinatra days and the likes. Love it over crimbo when white christmas is on (y)

There is something about Casablanca which I find quite charming.

Dr. Strangelove is another good one.

I recently watched Dr Zhivago and I thought it was brilliant. I actually ruined it for myself because the DVD I had was dual layered and I ended up watching the last hour and a half first without realizing. But even so, I still enjoyed it thoroughly.
