Noel and Noctis

Sorry in advance if this reaaally displeases people. I really like XIII/XIII-2 so for me personally, this is quite an interesting find and an intriguing theory to discuss.


Has anyone noticed that Noel and Noctis share certain physical features?

Do you think this was intentional on the designer's part?

If yes, what do you think it means?

Theoretically speaking, how would you feel if Versus XIII was set in a parallel universe, making Noctis the parallel version of Noel?

Also interesting: Noctis/Noel ---- Stella/Serah.

To be honest I don't see a similarity in them at all haha. The only thing to me that makes them similar is that they're both Male.

Noel reminds me of Tidus, I am not sure if he actually is like Tidus because I've not played FFXIII-2 but from the demo he seemed quite happy-go-lucky. Where as Noctis reminds me of like Cloud or Squall. More calm and silent and serious.

Looks wise I don't think they look similar to eachother at all.

If there is one thing Type-0 proved beyond a shadow of a doubt, it's that Square Enix rip off their own character designs, because they're running out of original ones...or already have. Likely the latter. Any similarities between characters are likely the result of a lack of creativity or laziness, rather than intention.

I think people are already over-hyping Versus beyond all reason - considering they have absolutely no reason whatsoever to do so - so Noctis being related to Noel in some fashion probably wouldn't make the game any worse than it is probably going to be. So honestly, I wouldn't care either way if there was a relationship between the two.

Well there is some similarities between them with like the nose and hair and eye placement. A bit like Juliet Starling said....but I believe after this many games making original characters with that Japanese feel would be hard to do now. There is a lot of characters already designed, It is hard to make something totally original these days. In time we will see characters once more look like past characters it is inevitable in my opinion. But to be honest it doesn't bother me cause when I am playing I don't really see that side of things.

I hate threads like these or any other statements of resemblances of ff characters.. It makes me sick. Ppl want to see what they want to see. Look at anime there are tons of anime chars that look the same its a japanese thing.

Anyway, I agree with Chuck, they don't look the same. Noctis has a thinner face and Noel's is more round and plump. Plus, Noctis' hair is cooler.

Their mouths I'd say are a bit similar, and surprisingly the hair is a bit similar too Although Noctis' is much better, because Noctis is better. I hate Noel

Ah, a fine example of Monsieur Nomura's exquisite character design style. However, I don't see THAT much in the way of similarities between Noel and Noctis, when other specimens showcase his style more clearly, e.g. most of Type-0 pretty much egregiously resembles some other people in some way or another, with Seven (and 3rd Birthday's Aya Brea maybe) being siblings or cousins of Lightning.

It isn't deliberate, so don't think too much about it (though connecting FFXIII-2 to Versus won't be hard, because, going by the omnipresent plot device of that game: a wizard did it - I mean, time paradox!). It's just the guy being himself considering how generic the two of these characters look and how typically Tetsuya Nomura-ish they are. If anything for me, it looks like Nomura decided to try and casually doodle Kingdom Hearts Sora in a slightly more older and, uhh, realistic(?) way with the hair and proportions, but accidentally came out with Noel instead.

Actually, I think Noel sort of resembles Yuna from FFX. He's pretty much the male version of Yuna.

I don't see much of a resemblance. I agree with klauss; Noel reminds me more of a male version of Yuna from FFX, than Noctis.

I suppose this is an interesting show of how perceptions differ from people to people. For me, I probably wouldn't be able to differentiate Noel from Noctis. The only difference I think there is would be probably their voice actors and their hair-style. If they both wore the exact same set of clothing and sported the same hair-style, chances are I'll think they're clones of each other.

I don't personally see the simliarities too much between Noctis and Noel.

Noel has brown hair, a tribal outfit and the "good guy" aura about him and he reminds me a LOT of a male version of Yuna, actually. I really don't care for his character design too much...it's not too pleasing for me. I never played XIII-2 so I don't know how he is personality wise either...but he seems like the good guy type as opposed to Noctis being the quieter more mysterious type.

Noctis has better hair and his character design is loads more interesting. Noel is very generic to me. If you want to talk about characters who look similar from the XIII realm I think Cid Raines and Noctis share more in common appearance-wise.

I wouldnt doubt that many models are very similar. But we get to see that in many characters. I see a very very small resemblance but it goes to the nose and eyes only.

I see what your saying, and ive been noticing some other stuff from XIII-2 and from the trailers for VS13, ill keep those to myself for now, as i cannot prove anything or post theories due to spoilers, but i think your onto something, cuz ive thought the same thing
