The “Fall of Earth” trailer for Mass Effect 3 is here! Sure, we saw it at E3 and it was awesome, but now it’s available for all of you to see in amazing clarity!

Update#1

Mass Effect is set to feature a four-player co-op online mode, according to various sources.

Eurogamer reports that the much-rumoured multiplayer feature will include "competitive elements" and "will not compromise" the single-player portion of the game.

A reliable development source has since informed CVG that the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer feature will be built around "original missions made for online", which will be totally unique from the solo campaign.

Our mole added there would "only be a handful" of co-op missions which have been created with the intention of being "played and played again".

Reports have suggested that the online offering will come in the form of a Horde-style mode, but our source was quick to play down the notion.

Bioware's Montreal studio is said to be behind the co-op side, and was seen to be recruiting for "multiplayer" staff last year.

"Mainstream penetration is a major goal for Mass Effect 3 and those high up feel online co-op is the answer they're looking for," our source said. "EA's keen to push the multiplayer side of the game to help spread word of mouth - so it's not just going to rehash stuff from the campaign. It's going all out."

Officially BioWare's refusing to confirm the Mass Effect 3 online antics, but when pressed on the matter last week, co-founder Ray Muzyka told CVG that the studio is "exploring" multiplayer for all of its games.

Update#2

Femshep to appear in Mass Effect 3 marketing

After years of pretending she’s not a gazillion times better than her male counterpart, EA and BioWare are set to give the female version of Commander Shepard a portion of the attention she deserves.

20110616me2.jpg

Bioware’s marketing director, David Silverman, has been reaching out to Mass Effect and FemShep fans over the past few months, and announced two wins for the community.

“There will be a FemShep trailer,” he tweeted.

“We actually had a meeting on her yesterday. We are working on the look now.”

The standard FemShep look morphed slightly between the original Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, and BioWare is apparently keen to utilise feedback from the legion of fans on the Commandr’s appearance.

“YOU all via twitter and your posts actually aided in the decision of what FemShep looks like,” Silverman explained.

FemShep will also make an appearance on the collector’s edition of the game.

“Both MaleShep and FemShep are featured on the CE,” Silverman noted. “One side male, one side female.”

Kudos to BioWare and EA for having the guts to buck industry paranoia about women protagonists and marketing. FemShep forever, amirite?

Mass Effect 3 is due in the first quarter of 2012.

Thanks, Kotaku.

Here is a nice, solid look at combat in Mass Effect 3. It's humorous to see footage from a game that somewhat falls on the tactical side of the third-person shooter spectrum being cut to look more action-packed.
BioWare was nice enough to throw in some gamescom screenshots as well. The one with the Reaper is particularly worth seeing. I'm also fond of the guys with faces on their shoulders. They should probably get that checked out.

Mass Effect 3 demo officially dated
Featuring single-player and co-op.
by Sal Romano [@salromano] at 09:13 AM EST, January 18, 2012 .

ME3-Demo-Dated-400x225.jpg

Looks like yesterday’s Mass Effect 3 demo date was an early leak. Electronic Arts officially announced the demo today, coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on February 14, just under a month before the game launches on March 6.
The demo will be one of the first pre-launch demos to support full voice recognition through Xbox 360′s Kinect.
“We are excited to be able to give gamers an expansive demo that will put them right on the front lines of this all-out galactic war,” said Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series. “The entire scale of the game is bigger than anything we’ve ever done. With its intense action, deep customization and raw emotional power, Mass Effect 3 will deliver a spectacular action RPG experience to fans of the series and newcomers alike.”
In addition to single-player, the demo will also contain a portion of co-op, accessible by players starting February 17. Consumers who’ve activated their Battlefield 3 online pass are able to qualify for early access to the co-op portion (February 14). Other early access opportunities will be announced in the near future.

Mass Effect 3 mobile to be revealed soon

An EA representative has told Kotaku that tie-in titles for Mass Effect 3, regularly mentioned during EA’s quarterly financials, will be revealed soon. The representative made specific mention of both “handheld” and “mobile”, suggesting we could be looking at more than an iOS app, and said the tie-ins would be part of the Galaxy at War system – also tied to Mass Effect 3′s multiplayer – by which players can affect events within the core game. Mass Effect 3 launches on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in March.

^ Mobile indeed. In fact, we're sending aliens (or maybe fellow Earthlings) copies of ME3 at least a week early.

'Mass Effect 3' becomes true space oddity

The hype for one of the year's hottest video games, Mass Effect 3 (out March 6, on PS3, Xbox 360 and PCs, ages 17-up) is reaching new stratospheric heights.
In case you don't know, a playable demo has already hit Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.
But next week, a select intrepid few will have the opportunity to play the full game before it hits stores. Publisher Electronic Arts will be launching copies of the game into space using weather balloons that will be released in New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Berlin, London and Paris.

Each game has a GPS tracking device onboard and fans can track their return to the Earth on masseffect.com to find a copy and play it a week or more before the game hits stores. (Might not be a bad idea to follow MassEffect, either.)
In other Mass Effect news, a new trailer for the game will be shown during AMC's TV series The Walking Dead Sunday at 9 p.m./ 8 p.m. CT.

Mass Effect 3 Fight trailer leaks ahead of TV debut

Watch it before it gets pulled and held ransom for several hours.

This live action trailer was supposed to debut during The Walking Dead, as did the Take Earth Back trailer last week, but for those outside of the US, YouTube provides – ahead of schedule.

Mass Effect 3 releases on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 6 in the 6, March 8 in Australia, and March 9 in Europe.

Oh man, the game looks so great. I think it's going to blow every other game this year out of the damn water. Oh man. My mouth vomits rainbows when I watch footage. I'm going to be pre-ordering the Collector's Edition as soon as I get my paycheck in the next few days.

Mass Effect 3 Vault DLC to come with Calibur11’s Collectors Edition Vault

Calibur11 has announced its Mass Effect 3 Collector’s Edition Vault will come with DLC.

cali11me3ps3vvault.jpg

Players can get their first look at Calibur11’s exclusive Mass Effect 3 Vault Reinforcement Pack upgrade and customisation system in the multiplayer demo of the game.

The Vault’s Reinforcement Packs contain: “a variety of character race and class unlocks, weapons and weapon modifications, ammo, power and health consumables, and more.”

There are two ways for players to earn Reinforcement Packs for use in the multiplayer demo: via in-game credits earned by completing objectives in the demo co-op missions or by participation in the Mass Effect 3 Recruitment Program.

In the DLC, Commander Shepard’s chest piece “bares the worldly recognised ‘N7 logo’ and comes with its own numbered Certificate of Authenticity and code that can be redeemed for the bonus items in Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer.”

The ME3 Calibur11 set features a controller/headset cradle and a light up N7 logo.

It will run you £69.99 and releases on March 9 for PS3 and Xbox 360 slim models.

Mass Effect 3 launch video lands ahead of release

EA has released the launch trailer for Mass Effect 3.

shepme3.jpg

The video shows a Reaver attack and people fleeing in a shuttle as the invasion ensues.

It also has a bit of dialogue noting that everyone needs to “stand together” in order to beat the opposing forces taking over the universe.
EA also has word that if you pre-ordered the game through Origin, you can now pre-load it.

The third, and final entry to the Bioware trilogy is out next week on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

i'm playing 2 at the minute, and the way i'm going i should finish it around the time 3 is released, so i'll get a nice smooth transition into it. hopefully it rounds the series up as a strong trilogy á la indiana jones.

I know this isn't the actual trailer for the rumored Live-action Mass Effect movie, but if it is anything like this trailer here, then I believe it would kick some serious, SERIOUS ass. :joey:
a live action movie would be a horrible blight on everyone's conscience.

Mass Effect Infiltrator stars Randall Ezno, a covert Cerberus agent

IGN has posted a hands-on with Mass Effect Infiltrator, the iOS game which launches alongside Mass Effect 3 next week.

MEI.jpg

According to the outlet, Infiltrator isn’t an RPG and players won’t level up, use dialogue trees, or even pilot a spaceship. Instead, it’s an “action-oriented cover shooter,” with a story set in the core Mass Effect trilogy.

The star of the game is Randall Ezno, a “covert Cerberus agent” who discovers Cerberus is not a company made up of rainbows and unicorns, but something more nefarious.

Gameplay takes place predominately on the Cerberus base and in order to obtain intelligence of the company’s activities, Enzo must go deep into the facility where he will undoubtedly meet up with others who aren’t interested in small talk.

Mass Effect Infiltrator, as mentioned previously, will launch alongside Mass Effect 3 next week on iOS, and an Android version is planned for release at a later date.

Mass Effect 3 Invasion trailer suspiciously unofficial

This new Mass Effect 3 trailer hasn’t appeared through the usual official channels, and arrives right on top of news that a fake trailer has been produced from a leaked build of the game – watch it at your own peril, as you may be partially spoiling the ending cinematic.

201203205me3.jpg

The trailer isn’t on BioWare’s official YouTube channel, instead hosted by several fan accounts and spreading quickly. The trailer’s editing seems a litte strange, showing only a handful of the cast at the end of a sequence which looks just like a cinematic. Most concerningly, over the weekend Twitter was alight with rumours that a fake trailer was circulating showing the game’s ending cinematic.

VentureBeat reports the shooter RPG hybrid has hit Torrent sites, suggesting a credible fan-edit origin for the video.

Mass Effect 3 is due on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on march 6 in the US, March 8 in Australia and March 9 in Europe.

it was released in the uk yesterday. posting news about it now is a little redundant, don't you think?

so far, i'm in love with it. it plays as well as mass effect 2, but they've brought back a lot of what i loved about the first - mainly the weapon upgrading system. it's still not as good as 1, but it's a hell of a lot better than it was in 2. i like that you don't have to scan planets anymore because i found that incredibly dull. the new scanning thing and getting chased off reapers is brilliant.

Gamers start campaign asking BioWare to change Mass Effect 3 ending

Mass Effect 3 fans have started a petition, Twitter campaign, and a Facebook page imploring BioWare to rework the ending to the game – whether through a patch or DLC.

20120213masseffect3.jpg

There’s also a forum post polling users on the BioWare forums regarding a new ending which currently has 66,000 views and more than 9,800 votes.

Mind you – clicking on some of these links will be spolieriffic – so user beware. If, however you have finished the game and found the various ending options lacking, click away.

Mass Effect 3 released in the US earlier in the week, and yesterday in the UK.

Thanks, GameFront.

Update

Mass Effect 3 From Ashes DLC not shipped on disc

EA has stepped on an Internet furore kicked up by a player claiming to have proof that Mass Effect 3′s day one DLC is included on the disc.

20120312me3.jpg

“From Ashes is a 600 MB+ download with all new content, including the mission on Eden Prime, new dialogue options and conversations with Javik, new cinematics, the Prothean weapon, and new appearances for all squad members. All of the above content was completed while the main game was in certification and are not available on the disc,” EA said in a statement given to GameInformer.

“As stated previously, in order to seamlessly integrate Javik into the core campaign, certain framework elements and character models needed to be put on disc. We did something similar with Zaeed and Kasumi in Mass Effect 2.”

An outraged fan has posted a video showing what is claimed to be the activation of the From Ashes DLC simply by changing one line of code in the PC version of the game.

The video sparked an outpouring of rage from users who maintain that the DLC is content cut from and essential to the core game, and who resent paying for it.

BioWare has said repeatedly that the DLC was developed post-certification. The developer has come under heavy fire for its release of day one DLC, but ex-BioWare staffer Christina Norman took the stage at GDC to defend the practice.

“There’s no point in releasing DLC a year after your game has come out when most people have already sold your game back to GameStop three times. That means getting it out early; that means even day-one DLC,” she said, according to Shack News.

“That is a terrible thing to some players. Players rant – they know nothing about this DLC that’s coming out except its name. But then it’s ‘oh this game must be incomplete, the game must be ruined.’ Game developers are not evil. (Some are evil.) But most are not evil.

“We just want to release awesome stuff. Players please, give us a chance. Judge our games based on what they are. Judge the DLC based on what it is. Stop thinking you’re a producer and telling us when and where we should be building our content.”

Mass Effect 3 is out now on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and is selling by the truckload. The game’s broad appeal has inevitably led to plenty of controversies, including a fan petition to change the ending.

Thanks, Kotaku, games.on.net. [image]

SPOILER SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

I loved mostly everything about this game but i do have a few complaints.
I found it to be poorer than mass effect 2. The galaxy seemed very small in comparison, i didnt find much incentive to explore the galaxy other than to gather war assets which i felt i would have to do to require the best ending.(lol) Well that was the ONLY reason to explore the galaxy other than gathering those annoying artifacts for the collection missions. The only place you could really go back to was the citadel. In me2 you had Omega Illium and The citadel etc.
I also found the characters to be a little less exciting thatn in me2. I missed the banter you could get on the normandy with your companions. It is there in me3 but theres much less of it and as theres less characters to take on your squad there isnt much to do aboard the ship. Ash annoyed me and James did nothing to add to anything in my eyes. Garrus liara and tali make up for that though.

With those mostly minor problems out the way i loved this game. Ive put 33 hours into it since friday (today is monday) and just completed it. The story telling is at its best as usual and the paragon and renegade choices make for some great scenes though the ending throws them out a little bit. My only quarrel with mass effect 2 was the voice actor who played male shaphard. I always found him to be a tad dull and plain. In me3 it seems hes really put in the effort. His reactions and everything sound much much better. Not perfect but damn better than mass effect 2. The story and characters (98% of them anyway), the additions to combat, the enemies. Everything is excellent.

Then you get to the last 20 minutes of the game... MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD

The ending was terrible. You get 3 choices all 3 of which are shite. It seems like it doesnt matter what choices youv made in previous games because you only have those 3 to choose from and theyre all depressing and so unsatisfying. Mass effect 2 taught me that if you go paragon, help your team mates etc you can get an ending which you can be happy with. I dunno about anyone else but i was NOT expecting shephard to die. So i was waiting for an option that would keep him alive and end the reapers. But he dies in all 3 choices. From what i hear the same cut scene plays regardless of which you pick. There are just very slight changes with each.
Shephards the man who defies the odds and beats the bad guys. Saves the day etc. Typical hero. But at the end he just follows the catalyst kid and accepts theres no other way. Why bother with the pargon and renegade and all these other choices (importing your character etc ) when the ending is boiled down to 3 choices of crap which mostly play out the same. It just felt like such a poorly written way to end such an amazing series of games.
And speaking of the catalyst....what? First its the citadel and then its the kid from his dreams whom shephard sees on earth at the beginning of the game who says its his solution to chaos????? There shoulda been a renegade option there to blow his stupid little head off. That woulda been a much better ending. What were they thinking :rage: The explanation behind the reapers..They just pulled it out theyre arses.

Anyway. Not surprised to read that fans are wanting another ending. The makers said in an interview just before me3s release that another mass effect game wouldnt be out of the question. Can we have one with shephard please? Cant you just add a reapers die and everyone survives the war ending? Or at least one that doesnt feel like it ruined the game. What a drag :( Also It puts me off buying DLC. Why bother with it when i know the ending is pish. Meh :(

longest post ive ever written

EDIT holy shit this is a long post

Rumour – Mass Effect 3 multiplayer DLC inbound

An image has turned up suggesting some new classes for Mass Effect 3′s multiplayer may be on the way.

20120313me3_dlc.jpg

The image shows a number of new classes – Asari Justicar, Batarian Soldier, Batarian Sentinel, Geth Engineer, Geth Infiltrator and Krogan Battlemaster.

The image appeared on Reddit but seems to have been first posted on Facebook.

The pack apparently “unlocked everything”.

The anonymous poster claims to have nabbed the DLC from the “developer server”; it’s not clear if this refers to the developer-only version of Xbox Live.

Users speculate the DLC may be that expected to be bundled with upcoming statues, action figures and other merchandise.
