Personally I'd say the same thing about Oerba Dia Vanille, and not Lightning. Vanille nearly knocked me off my chair when I first saw an image of her in the early trailers.
Lightning is a beautiful young woman, but I think that her beauty is more down to the graphical capabilities of FFXIII, though the design of having pink hair and her face also make her attractive. If some of the earlier FFs had high definition I'm pretty sure that a lot of the female (and / or male) characters would be knocking us all onto the floor. They are capable now of putting a lot of detail into a face, and making a face look unique and attractive in a way which couldn't be done in earlier games.

I think they were each beautiful in their own ways. Vanille was a rather innocent, naive young woman who was always happy and optimistic.(Even though she stated she was always afraid.) She was innocent, and outgoing, while always smiling, and that innocence extended to her look to create a rather beautiful charm.
Fang was more intense and forthcoming than Vanille in her beauty. She didn't wear much, always spoke her mind, and smiled most of the time. She was the brave, powerful Amazonian type, and she didn't give a crap what anyone thought of her.
Lightning's evolution from the cold soldier to compassionate team leader gave her different kinds of beauty. At the beginning, her actions and rebellion against the Sanctum make her a ruthless, slightly cold and distant person. There's a mysterious beauty in that.
But later, she becomes almost a big sister, particularly to Snow and Hope. She's protective, a team player, and pretty caring. She opens up. That in itself is beauty as well. It's nice to see that evolution from one "beauty" to another.
In short, I think personality contributes towards different kinds of beauty as well as the gorgeous CGI

Lightning is indeed beautiful. But I must say that I think Fang is the most attractive. I usually find an FF character good-looking when they're on the good side but at the same time have a dangerous flare to them (ie: Vincent Valentine, Lulu. . .). I'm not that much put in awe by pink haired destined protagonists, but that's just me.

thats weird I always thought Rikku was the most beautiful of the FF series.
Also Fran's sister (Ff12) is gorgeous, too bad she doesnt have CGi
Aerith from FF7AC is just beauty
and even if people agree with you, Stella will be the most beautiful woman created in the FF series yet to come, hands down.

Lightning's my 2nd fave character but she's not the most beautiful for me, actually she ranks no. 3 in my list of prettiest FF girl.
