How do you deal with these types of people? Do you simply ignore them or do you try to prove them wrong everytime?
It varies for me, usually i try proving them wrong. I remember i was explaining to my grandmother that the things she says about me are not always true, she always has these stories where she tells others about me that i don't agree with because they aren't true. When it comes to proving her wrong she just won't admit it, we end up arguing for hours on end. Same with her husband, he acts the same way albeit different from her because he claims he knows everything.
As of late though, i just don't bother trying anymore. They're too damn stubborn, so i just ignore them and say whatever >_>
Not one person on this earth, knows everything. It is not possible, there is too much knowledge out there. Things are constantly changing when it comes to information about everything. Anyway, i think i said enough...too tired to rant more. <.>

And my abbrasively sarcastic personality puts this off as more arrogance than I sometimes intend it to be.

But I don't encounter a lot of people like that in real life unless you count the majority of my relatives. If they're doing it just to be funny, I can feign back problems - but if they're actually serious into thinking that (even with the right answer given) they're always right, it can get on my nerves. Strangers particularly, because even though we don't know each other, they think they have the upper hand anyway. And then there's the snobs of the world that basically think everything they say or do is right - I don't bother with those. There's no way to get the message through their skulls .
