Looking into the possibilities of how it will end and hearing the parallels of this game to some of Shakespeare's works (Hamlet or Romeo and Juliet)...How do you think the game is going to end? Will Noct be the tragic hero? Discuss.

Probably will have a lot of tragedy in it...
Since it's supposedly Shakespearean.
I prefer my games to have some kind of satisfying ending.

A tragic figure who feels sad and the game ends that way..may not provide the kind of finish most fans would like to see...

I dont think the game will be heavily based on shakespeare...but I dont think everything is going to work out in the end. I dont feel as though Noct will die but I dont feel that he'll accomplish his goal either

They want the plotline to be "dark", I suggest they may as well end it on a "dark" note and keep it all congrous. I wouldn't mind seeing it end tragically. It will certainly be a fresh, interesting approach to the Final Fantasy franchise as opposed to having a team of young adults save the world in more or less every entry so far. It will certainly kill some clichés and I'm all up for that.

Seeing as Nomura is keen on making Versus more of a mirror to the real world than any of the previous games, it would make sense that it doesn't end happily ever after. A "fantasy based on reality" doesn't need to end happily ever after.

Although I can see a problem with this approach as well. It will just leave a bad taste in many fans' mouths and the prospect of them crying out for a sequel to end it in a happier note may be inevitable.

Too early to say.....

but if it ends as a tragedy.......then they'll definately be a sequel or something to make it a happy ending........

and even with that sense of this being a "dark game" may also mean it kinda might end in a mysterious questionable way.....

But there will definately be a twist between Stella and Noctis........and by Stella's personality could she betray Noctis? :gasp:........She does seem like that when she draws her weapon in the trailer.......but in a cutscene she seems happy and smiling.....................

But I don't think SE really need to make a game that'll need a sequel at this time.........especially with other games in development and FF games taking ages to actually make like FFXIII!

as well a fanboys screaming for an FFVII remake......

Eh no idea as of right now. We do not have too much information On Final Fantasy Versus XIII. But if it will be like Romeo and Juliet than I guess Stella Nox Fleuret will commit suicide at some point. Pfft not really. Just guessing. We do not know for sure. But I will take a guess at it having to do with Noctis or Stella..

I liked how FFX originally ended on a happy but somber note, so perhaps they could do something similar for Versus. A conclusion to a story, even if it tugs at the heart strings.

Honestly, I wanna see Noctis die or some other martyr-ish demise :monster:

i dont have any clue as to what the story is even about, so im just gonna go with Vanille and Fang come as Ragnarok and kill Noctis. yup. :) ....(i know its not possible.)

also dont forget the Crystals..yeah those damn BS crystals keep coming and coming lol
In this realm the crystals are also a source of power...I believed versus takes place in the same world as FF13?

Would you guys love to see the same places from FF13 in Versus? :P

Noctis is some kind of royalty right? and he had to protect the crystals or something...but maybe Fleuret steals those crystals or something and Noctis must attend to his duties as a prince or king...thus going on pursuit with his friends/servants.... its funn to speculate like this hehehehehe.

Same universe, not world. It will be wholly independent from FFXIII, although common mythology of the Compilation will pop up, such as the crystals. And frankly, I wouldn't want Versus to have much to do with FFXIII anyway. It is its own game.

That would seem the best ending........

But a sequel maybe required..........people weren't happy with Tidus just leaving Yuna so they made a sequel. I think if they do make it an ending like this it will be rather good and even though I desparately wanted a FFX-2............I'm not going to regret this post if Versus ends like this.

after all it is a shakespearen love-like story..........Rome and Juliet didn't have a happy ending.

or the way like I said in the other post which wasn't a happy ending either lol.

aah this makes me happy :), me neither even though I STILL havent played FF13 yet... lol but I would like to see Versus being much better then Ff13..

Personally i believe this game will end the same as any other FF Game has done, a Flashy FMV showing the Final Boss' death in an array of beauty and light, closely followed by a long String of events that hold no relevant Significance to the game what so ever.

Hmm, I for one like tragic stories, I actually liked Romeo and Juliet (despite Shakespeare's old english language that I can't really understand). But I hope Versus doesn't have Hamlet ending, if everyone dies in the end, then that's really a crappy ending, even if there is some kind of point as to why they all died.
All the trailers look as if there's nothing happy in the game, are all the characters mad or something? :P
I feel like Noctis or some important character will die, like someone will sacrifice themselves to save Noctis or Stella. I don't think that Stella will die, she's the leading lady afterall, people will see it as a VII parallel, like Square's taking something great and try to morph into another story hoping it'll be great. But ehhhhh, that's what I think.
This isn't meant to sound weird: I just want someone to die, you don't come across many games where a main character is killed off, you know. I have expectations for this dark game. xD

I would have to agree that based on what we know of the game and its darker theme...that someone will die in the end, but who? My honest guess is Stella (Noct seems like a very cold character personality speaking so I can't see him going down too easily, unless Stella is the one to break him) as I can't see them killing off Noct...but I like how SE is only giving us the least info that they can about it because then it allows you to speculate and wonder about it even more.

I'm ready for a non-happy ending in a FF game...I was let down with XIII's ending. It was good, but I personally still consider it a happy one.

I'm also seeing some Romeo + Juliet themes with Stella having to fight him but not wanting to because they are on opposing sides but maybe develop some sort of relationship together? I also think there's going to be a bit of Hamlet in it because Noct's uncle could be out to get him (because he's jealous that Noct has control of the crystal? Or he has a hidden agenda to want to sell off control of it?) and Noct might end up having to off the uncle? Who really knows what SE has up their sleeve. Sooo many possibilities....just hope they use them to their advantage.

Personally I think it will be nothing like Shakespeare, except for perhaps Romeo and Juliet, because everyones knows, it's a bit shit. They'll aim for tragedy and get melodrama instead. With everything feeling just as contrived as FFXIII. It won't be dark either, they'll just have some brooding characters and some bad stuff will happen, probably some parricide. And all the characters will have a dark secret, they will be endlessly hinted at, until in heartaching way it will be revealed, the main character's childhood friend was murdered at the hands of the main badguy, and his love interest's sister got crushed to death in a terrible industrial accident. Basically it will have every cliche thrown together with no story, but at the end the good guys will win, because no one likes unhappy endings.

Hopefully all the love thing is sorted out before the end.............

but at the end of the game they need to "save the world" like every other FF or prevent it from further destruction of course.

But hasn't anyone considered anything happening mid-game?

The romeo and juliet thing is nice...........
But I wouldn't be suprised is any of the characters (playable or not) died mid-game and that changes the characters throughout the rest of the game...........

anyway Noctis can't just be emotionless throughout..........even Lightining and Cloud gave a damn about others towards the end of the game.........

Think a "light" tragedy may happen during mid-game..............which changes the course of the game.

But I still think it will be a tragic and sad ending........like Stella betrays Noctis at the end? (traitor :hmph: )

Still too early to tell we'll have to wait until the TGS next month (thats if Versus is even there, hopefully it is)

Since the game looks very dark, I'm thinking the game will end up on a very sad note, maybe someone really closed to the main character will die or something kinda like in the end of FF12.
