Have you ever influenced anyone?

In their life, speaking metaphorically. I know I've had people influence me, but only a few of them have done personally done so. I'm forever influencing people.

However, I suppose that I've managed to do so to my best friend who's turned a bit crazier than myself and has become an addict to pop music.

How about you?
 
Hmm, I'm not really sure. I think I influenced my younger sister to draw and sing, and she's been doing a good job by practicing. I wish I can truly influence a few people in a way that would make a positive impact in their lives, but I doubt that's gonna happen anytime soon.

Speaking of influence though, it kinda stung when I heard that my best friend's dad said I was a bad influence on her - and she's 2 years older than me! =] I mean I guess it's funny now, but back (I was 16 and she was 18) then I thought that was a ridiculous statement.
 
Influenced is a little of a selfish word, but I hope for my sake I have. My best buds in high school were both heavy into drugs. One was depressant from early childhood and the other had anger issues. Since I had gone through a break up in the previous months which was still one of the most harsh times, I took a break from dating and hung around my buds for some shinanigans.

Well when the depressant friend left his "happy" pills at home while were over at the apartment, he started freakin.. So everyone being cracked out of their mind by whatever they smoked.. I took him back. Along the way he went on about how he can't help but take the pills, if he held out he might try to kill himself. Well to say the least I calmed him down a bit .. and realized how bad it was for him. Shit made me want to call my ex.. but she was probably up in some other guys ass by now (not literally.. figuratively).

The influence was that I was able to take someone mentally unstable (i mean for real) and make him be completly independant from his "happy" pills.. even if it were for a good 30 minutes.

I have spoken to some girls that have the same thoughts as him.. and realize that some people hold way to much in.. and I shouldn't be the only person that hears what they have to say.

I'm a software tester, not a doc, but I guess what all one needs sometimes is a good ear..

If anyone ever takes up Psychology, you'll learn that all of us, in some way or another, have influenced at least one person, either as a minority (minority social influence) or as a majority (majority social influence). It usually relates to conformity and the desire to be liked and accepted by a particular group.

Anyway, I'll simply say that I've influenced my friends to be more open-minded about message boards and games. :gmonster:
 
The best I've probably managed is forcing my typing preferences onto other people. I know that Sum has definitely taken on-board my nagging, and Damon did way back when too. Probably a few other people that I don't care about as well...

I might've encouraged a few 'sensitive' people to be stronger, or at least more resistant to personal attacks. There are a few people that come to mind here, so that's pretty 'big' I guess.
 
A few people have picked me up on sounding a bit like you and even I've managed to stand back from a few things that I've said and compare it to you. :wacky: I seem to round it off by saying "Virgil's been highly influential on me" or something to that effect. Also, in reference to a rather humorous conversation we had, I've picked up 'cock depository' and added it to my repertoire. xD
 
I'm not entirely sure if I have influenced people. I'm one of those people that doesn't say much to people, takes the back seat, listens more than speaks. BUT I would speak if brain-dead syndrome let me (urgh, be gone negative thoughts!).

I guess I've influenced a few people. My family I've influenced as we still live in this house when they wanted to move but I didn't. Dunno if that counts though.

I think I have influenced some people into liking Final Fantasy and spread the good news about a few people.

Other than that... I've not really asked anyone really how I've influenced them. It's a possitive thing to think, I just can't think of anything.

I'm sure each of us influence many people we meet on the path of life though.
 
The only person I've ever really influenced is my best friend. Before she met me, she wore huge baggy clothes and didn't take much pride in her appearence. Now she's a real fashionista ^^ She looks better than me most of the time. I got her into a lot of the music I like as well, and she did the same to me.
 
Yes, I have influenced my best friend. He did not like music at all and when i started to play guitar and devoloped great skills he started liking the guitar's. I started teaching him all I knew and we ended up taking clases in the conservatory of music and grew well known for our guitar solos. We used to duel each other and he got better than me. He told me that i was his influence of becoming a musician.
 
Yeah, I manipulate people all the time. It's easy once you get enough practice.

I usually force my musical and cinematic tastes on people as well, since mine is far advanced in comparison to everyone I know.

I think everyone here has influenced someone whether they have realised it or not for the reason you stated.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure I've influenced my friends on more than one occasion. Nothing in particular springs to mind, but if I take a step back and look at my friendships, it becomes apparent that a lot of my friends act similar to me and share similar beliefs to me. I can see how they've changed by comparing their current beliefs to their beliefs when I first met them. I'm sure I've been influenced by them as well as a few of my beliefs have changed since meeting them.
 
I don't doubt I've influenced people, I've never influenced someone to do anything drastic but even giving little hints to people influences them even if it's the tiniest influence. I've influenced my 8yr old brother to play football but that's mainly because he watches me which means I've influenced him but not by directly talking to him about it. I have no doubt I've been influenced as well. :gmonster:
 
Omg, I just remembered some things I said to some guy that made him go dump his gf of like, 3 years. He was I can't remember what we were going on about but I knew he didn't really wanna be with her but didnt wanna break up with her. But she was still propewr in love with jhim

I told him it was only a matter of time before she started bringing up the engagement card, or whatif she got pregnant, if she is happy still being with him, then he willbe stuck with her for life,coz chances are she'd wanna keep it. Itiold him, if he was happy drifting along then stay with her

I dunno why I went on such a rant..Ima horrbible hotrrible person...anyway 2 days later it was all over :gasp:
 
I've influence a few people, mainly musically my mates listen to some of the stuff i listen to, i've made one of my mates like whiskey cause whenever i'm drunk i always give people drinks.

I've influenced my cousin loads, i've changed his music taste and he's growing his hair just wait till he's old enough to drink and POW i'll have him drinking whiskey.

I'm a pretty good character apparently, i don't think so but i get told it.
 
I've influenced a few minds and beings here and there over time. Only those willing to listen to me, of course. And my allies and friends. Most of the time, it happens to be simple things that influence them. Sometimes, there are larger events that influence those I am around.

My greatest influences were two people that I helped overcome what has become known today as "emo". They wanted to die, and I prevented that. They are now productive, happy people to this day.

And the friendship I give to one I consider my sister, though I am an only child. She listens well to my woes, and I to her. Together, we are like siblings, which is why we consider each other of the such.
 
I'm not many things but influential is something I am. There isn't a person alive that has met me and not had some strong opinion of me. I change people's lives for better and worse. I've corrupted innocent people. I've helped troubled people find their way. I've carried other people's troubles on my shoulder. I've added to people's problems just for kicks. I influence people, whether they like it or not.
 
I think I've definitely influenced a few people in my life. I just didn't notice every time I did so.

The main thing I remember was when my mother finally decided that I was right about her hair and that it was so 80's style and started to copy my hairstyle. XD

She straightened it and everything. She's been doing it for the last six years or so now.
 
Perhaps it's a minor influence, but I showed one of my favourite songs to a friend and they've loved it for quite sometime now. I also do believe that I somehow influence my co-workers in one way or another, I just don't know how lol.
