Have there been games that you tried so hard to like, but couldn't get yourself to change how you feel about them? It usually happens with sequels, where you'd end up hating them, and when you see or hear others talking about them, you realize that they got what they're looking for in those games but you didn't.
I usually get so jealous of people that like a certain franchise or a certain game that I don't. I'd much prefer to be amongst a crowd of gamers that would talk about how awesome a game is and not how much it sucks. Alas, it's not always so. There have been many anticipated games that I personally did not like.

These are the games that I wish I could like:

The Kingdom Hearts series

Final Fantasy X

Final Fantasy V

Valkyrie Profile 2 (I tried really hard to like this one)

The Star Ocean series

Dissidia: Final Fantasy

These however, I couldn't care less:

Final Fantasy XIII

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII

Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus

Final Fantasy XI

The Grand Theft Auto series

(I'm pretty sure I'm missing something, I'll edit it in later)

So, post yours.

It's mainly the means in which games are realised that I dislike them for. I wish I could force myself to buy mini ninjas for example because it's really pretty, but I've heard it's short and repetitive.

There are many games on the Wii I'd like to play, such as Mario Galaxy, but by owning a Wii I feel I'd have to make the most of a console and control system I don't particularly want to play. Buying the console for a handfull of games and little else is a waste to me.

I also wish I could like Mass Effect. I've barely played a third of the game but because I'm such a completionist I have to visit every planet which makes it exhaustive.

Probably KH for me, those games caused me so much rage, but I made a point of not letting them beat me. But I hated them :rage: I loved the story, and wish I could bring myself to play them again because I spent that much time hating the fucking games, that when I beat them, the second one in particular, I was still baffled as to what had happened, though, I have had a helll of alot of the story filled in for me by the biggest fan boy ever. I just wish I could share the same love for it...maybe one day, Il have another crack. On easy...... >_>

Same game for me... except with KH, I liked all the gameplay and stuff but I really couldn't stand what they'd done with the characters. I mean, the huge feet and cartoon appearance of FF characters made me rage :rage:
Didn't really understand the story all that much either...

same with the KH. just playing a game with disney characters doesnt appeal to me, but i hear its amazing and stuff. Its just my mind wont let me come around to actually playing.:wtf:

If I had to say a single title it would have to be Final Fantasy X-2

Since FFX is my favourite game ever....................
This game angers me that it's not as good

Sometime I don't even consider it as a prequel

I want to like it, for FFX sake.

But that's not going to happen is it?

I see Kingdom Hearts is a rather unanimous choice. :lew:

Yeah, I'm one of these people who can't get into the Kingdom Hearts games that much either. I've played the first Kingdom Hearts and....that's it. I just think it's the convoluted story that is rather off-putting to me, as well as perhaps the overall style of it. Disney characters....fine.....Final Fantasy characters thrown in looking like they're 8 or 9? No thanks......

I also can never get into the Call of Duty games - or any similar franchise, including Medal of Honor. I don't mind the odd shooters now and again (I do play the Metroid games), but there's something about warfare games both past and modern that I don't find very appealing.

And there's also some of the Mario games. In the past, I used to be a huge platforming fan. I would love the Spyro games, Ape Escape games and the Jak games. I even quite like the 2D Marios - but there's something about the 3D ones (64, Sunshine, Galaxy etc.) that I don't really enjoy as much.....

Grand Theft Auto.

Everyone and their grandmother whips themselves into so much of a frenzy everytime a new game in the series comes out. It really makes me feel like I'm missing out big time :wacky:

Another one is Diablo.

All my friends were really into the first 1 when we were kids and got really into the second 1 when that came out. A lot of my friends even still play Diablo II in multiplayer quite religiously. It never did anything for me, but hearing my friends rant about it constantly and having so much fun with it, really makes me wish that it did. Perhaps I'll give it another go when Diablo III comes out.

UGH! GTA, thank you for reminding me, I'm going to add that to my list haha. Yeah I never got into the Diablo games either, I remember trying them, and they were fun but it didn't stick with me. I'm also going to give Diablo III a try, though I doubt I'll play it continuously :wacky:

@ Fleur
I could never get into those shooter games either. I'm not a big fan of FPSs but COD and Halo in particular aren't all that great. The COD games don't even have the common courtesy of adding an invert aim option, instead you get all these different combination of button settings, I just want to invert the Y and X axis on the right analog stick, when did this feature of simple convenience become so redundant that they don't have to put it in the game? (What's funny is FFXII, my favorite FF game, is guilty of the same thing with the camera controls. I guess I'm lucky I'm used to inverted camera and aim :busta:) as for the 3D platformers, I don't dislike them, but I don't like them either. So..eh!

my friends say FFXIII was "Good"

it makes me want to smash my face on my desk until they're completely convinced it's made of suck :monster:

Definitely Counter Strike. I understand that the game takes a tremendous amount of skill at the competitive level, but online play is so damned repetitive (you're pretty much stuck at aztec, de_dust and the office level for all of eternity) that I completely lost interest after a couple months. I mean, there is only so much you can do with one set of weapons, one set of mission objectives per map, and teammates that are hell bent on doing their own thing. Plus the waiting time to respawn is extremely boring. This hasn't stopped it from dominating at my former high school, though.

Huh, dated a CS player for 3 years and OMFG I tried to get into IT help bond with him ... epic fail. I just dont like the fucking game.

Also the newer GTAs. I only like the first one as it was a new experince of gaming for me and my bro and we loved it so much. Now its been ruined so much with the amount of OTT sex, violence and drugs. Yeah the old one had its fair share, but nothing on the scale of the latest ones.

Final Fantasy 6 was one an ex of mine adored. I didnt enjoy it as much as I did with the other old skool Final Fantasys and I guess someone going on about it 24/7 can make it boring.

Gears of War and Halo series were 2 big favs of my last ex. He was obessed with them and again I tried so it would help the relationship. But nope, didnt do anything to help.

Any football and war games .... BORING AS FUCK.

Kingdom Hearts for me as well. The way some people go on about it, I always feel like I must be missing something but when I play it I'm pretty much bored out of my skull. I just can't get into it. I don't care for the gameplay or characters. It just bores me.

Some of the popular FF games as well, such as VI and X. I kept hearing great things about VI and when I finally played it, I was extremely underwhelmed. I thought the dialogue was silly and the battle system was quite dull. The only characters I didn't hate were Edgar, Sabin and Cyan. I wanted to punch Locke in the face. Of course I never finished it and I keep vowing to just to see if it gets better; it's hard to convince myself to press on though. :lew:

I also didn't really like the characters or story of FFX. I just couldn't really bring myself to care. The voice acting was godawful as well. The only thing I really liked about this game was the battle system. :hmmm:

Halo. I have never been able to grasp what's so great about this game. The story is rather uninteresting, Master Chief is lame and Cortana is annoying. >.> The only time the game is actually fun is on multiplayer.

I'm sure there are more but that's all I can think of for now. :lew:

I can't say I'm really jealous of what people like...it isn't my fault they have bad taste, after all *shot*
I suppose if any games qualified, it would be the following:
Final Fantasy IX
Kingdom Hearts
Assassin's Creed
Call of Duty. Especially this one.
Halo
Grand Theft Auto, from III onwards

hmm....

im quite jealous to ff13 lover

bcoz i dont have ps3....
haha....stupid reason though

Yeah, I'm one of these people who can't get into the Kingdom Hearts games that much either.
I can get into it :ohoho: I actually enjoyed every Kingdom Hearts title, 358/2 Days & Chain of Memories included more than I enjoyed Final Fantasy XIII and that was meant to be some AAA title rivalling Final Fantasy VII /lolbollocks.

Grand Theft Auto.

This. Although, even after I've played them I still don't know what the fuss was about. GTAIV got a 10/10 from a lot of critics yet I still don't understand how it got those ratings. Plus, they're all like the same game anyway just in different cities. :ffs:

Kingdom Hearts for me too. I loved the first game, but after that I felt the story just got to convoluted. I prefered the simplicity of the first one.

FF games after IX. I liked X but did not love it and I want to love the newer FF games because FF had always been one of my favorite series, but they just feel lacking. The games also feel shorter and smaller. I don't know VII-IX just felt massive and complex, where the newer ones just feel straight to the point?

That one I can definitely relate to. There was a time when a new Final Fantasy was something I'd be looking forward to more than Christmas. After X came out however, my enthusiasm started to dwindle, and now it has gotten to the point where I haven't even bothered checking out FF XIII yet.

The Resident Evil/Bioshock series. I might get rocks thrown at me, but this series does not appeal to me at all. I've tried my hardest to get into it, but I just can't. I'm so used to playing horror games like Fatal Frame that RE is...bleh to me. I also don't like the GTA series. I watched someone play it a while back and it's not a game that's up my alley. :/

FFXI, XII and XIII. I HATE Square Enix's Final Fantasies. With a passion. But I wish I could like them because then I wouldn't be miffed at the death of Final Fantasy ._.
Dammit, Enix!
