A scan from the most recent issue of V-Jump revealed some new Final Fantasy XIII details, including the driving commands for Odin and the name of the silver haired man featured in the E3 2009 trailer.

First up, the Japanese release date of the game is still no more specific than "Winter 2009", but it is expected that the Tokyo Game Show at the end of September will enlighten us.

Next the silver haired man featured in the E3 2009 trailer. Never again will he need to be called that or anything similar, with V-Jump sharing that his name is Yaag Rosch - lieutenant colonel rank, if anyone's interested. The magazine describes him as being the rival of Lightning and co., suggesting that he'll play a role similar to the Turks in Final Fantasy VII or Seymour in Final Fantasy X.
It is stated that Yaag desires peace for Cocoon's citizens, so he won't take to any threatening individuals too kindly.

Thanks for the info!

I think it's rather strange that all of the silver haired men in the Final Fantasy's have always been the evil rivals. XD

I suppose it does give them a colder appearance. <_<

Still can't wait for this game to come out and we finally got our XBOX fixed so now I don't have to worry about getting a PS3 right away. =D

I can just buy the game now!

Yeah, silver hair = bad guy. It is not only in FFs.
In Valkyria Chronicles too! And in many other games/anime/manga.

Though, I wonder whatever his role is really so important in the game that we need to know his name.
For some reson, he doesn't really look really important IMO.
Well, I guess as much as the Turks were in FFVII.

And the FFVII aura around this game starts to annoy me...
What they gonna bring next? Some kind of Sephiroth's clone as the main villain?

I think they already showed a Female Sephiroth :wacky:

And I can see him being a bit above the Turks in terms of overall 'difficulty' story-wise tbh. Don't know if many more characters will be released, with the date drawing near.

This is some good info. It almost seems as though this game may be similar to VII in many more way than i thought. Turk like silver hair man, Yaag Rosch, cant wait to see him in action

Nah, that wasn't Sephiroth. Rather Vayne from FFXII :P
She seems to be more sane than Sephiroth, unless
she will learrn she isn't a human or something and then turn mad and summon meteor in order to destroy the world

And Hope is Vaan from FFXII.
And even though many say Lighting is Cloud, I think she is more similar to Squall (the hair and the weapon).

But still, so many other things are similar to FFVII.
So I think we will see "Sephiroth" sooner or latter.

Rival...I like the sound of that. I'm a sucker for bonds of friendship, and bonds of rivalry. Maybe Yaag will be something like Beatrix from FFIX. The classic "evil gone good" theme maybe? O.O

Y.

Really ? ^^

Was kinda waiting for another wolf/dog type creature to appear. Kinda like Nanaki/ Red XIII or Cait Sith kind of animal figure..

Guess that would be next too ?

He looks cool by the way, but yeah the sliver haired = Bad guy is getting kind of overused..

Wow I didn't even notice the silver haired dude until now. It's good to finally see someone with an antagonistic role and I like how he desires peace for Cocoon's citizens.

My thoughts exactly.

Silver hair symbolizes power if memory serves correctly, so this could hint that Yaag will be a tough nut to crack.

Though I could see him being like Beatrix, though I would say she was misguided instead of gone evil, she was merely fulfilling her role, that could be the case with him; doing what it takes to keep Pulse safe.

I love having rivals in an FF though, getting to face off with them constantly, wondering if this fight with them will be the last, wondering if they'll ever see the light and join your cause. I honestly think it is a great plot device.

If he's just a patriotic rival (exactly Beatrix), I can't see Yaag Rosch as being a main or final antagonist.

I'm still waiting for that inevitable non-human party member. Post FFV titles have had them, bar VIII. We know chocobos are present in the game, but I'm anxiously waiting for my favorites: Moogles! As much as I liked the rabbit-like Moogles in XII, I want the other ones back- such the FFIX Moogles. They were the cutest!

What Goofy wrote.

I think he'll be a 'sub' villain, he doesn't look epic enough to me. I'm a little annoyed though, he's not very original is he? I think Yaag will live or die by his dialogue and character to be honest.

Yeah! Bring up the Moogles!

I was so annoyed that in many FFs, the role of the moogles is so small.
Take FFVII for example. The only moogle there (at least the only one I saw) was Mog in the "Mog House" mini game.

I wonder if Yaag be similar to Beatrix, as many think.
Now that I think about it... it sounds logic.
But he has silver hair...
So my bet is the the best thing that will happen is that he'll will become good at some point but will die shortly after that or something (maybe sacrificing himself in order to save the party or something?).

And the final enemy can always be some random GAINT MONSTER which appears from nowhere and tries to destroy the world.
So it is really hard to guess that IMO.

Just random thinking, how do you say the name?
I mean, is the "G" is like "J"?
"Yaaj" somehow sounds cooler IMO. "Yaag" sounds like "Yuk" :P

Yag Rosch? Sounds slightly like Basch to me. But, as a few people have said already, he doesn't look like a 'final boss' type of guy. I can see him as a boss, but not THE boss. And, he does give off a Beatrix-like vibe, so maybe he's not all evil. Maybe this Yag dude is one of those anti-villains.

His role seems good etc and I'd quite like to see what he can offer... That he just wants peace but is on the opposing side to Lightning could be interesting.

As for the silver hair.. They may aswell just open a portal to FFVII's world and bring Yahoo and Loz and all those silver haired dudes in that they created to sport the look.

I'm fed up with character designs like that recently. I don't mind silver hair so much if they were to design a decent costume for the person to wear, or at least one that stands out and looks different (such as Kuja's, and no I am not a fan of the man-thong I'm just glad they broke away from black leather).

I don't like the silver hair - black leather clothes they have gone for with darker characters. They need to branch out a bit.

That dude looks a lot like Loz combined with a SeeD uniform... If they'd have designed a really bizzare and fantastic costume for him then I could forgive his silver hair.

That said, it isn't very clear what the rest of the costume looks like. It could look a lot better in full. I don't mind it being black if they design or shape of the costume is interesting or has a bit of colour splashed somewhere in an interesting pattern or style or something.

Generic silver-haired bishounen character.

Why am I not surprised? Come on japan. This is getting older then generic bald space-marine in the west.

Well I'm sure I'm gonna get bashed and labeled accordingly for saying this, but I love my bishie design characters, so no complaints from me :awesome:

Oh I can understand that, its just the whole generic silver-haired thing got old before it even began.

Yaag Rosch huh? Pretty cool and badass name. If hes going to be similiar to Seymour he will have multiple forms. Im still anxious to find out what that fit chick's name. Turks huh? hmmm this makes me think the holy gonvernment will have something to do with this. But is he part of the H G?

After looking at the pictures again it looks like in the one of the pictures that he is a leader and is saying a speech to a bunch of commanding officers. Reckon that he is going to be more like Seymour. A Dictator that alot of people of the Final Fantasy 13 world will look up to and will be blinded by just like Seymour Guado was in Final Fantasy 10...

And when the whole seeking for peace comes into play reckon that he is going to have a screwed-up version of peace and will be the type of leader that will fool/ trick people into believing *his * idea of what peace is and how *his * idea peace that should be..

Reckon that he is going to be like just like Seymour Guado and Vayne expect more stereotypical looking..
