FFXIII Characters Possibly Returning in Versus XIII [5/29]

We already know that Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII for PS3 and Final Fantasy Agito XIII for the PSP are all part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis universe. Square have previously mentioned that Versus and Agito are not spinoffs, but rather a different story in the same universe.

However, it seems that the Versus XIII and Final Fantasy XIII stories may overlap and be closer than we first thought as IMDB's listing for <a href=http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0960140/>Final Fantasy Versus XIII</a> suggests that at least two of the Englsh voice actors from Final Fantasy XIII will also be recording voices for Versus XIII.

The page suggests that Daniel Samonas will be recording a voice for Maqui (pictured below), who is part of Snow's gang in Final Fantasy XIII.

It also suggests that Erik Davies will be recording a voice-over for Cid Raines (pictured below), just as he did in Final Fantasy XIII.

Of course this is still classed as a rumor at the moment, but the page was updated fairly recently (April 26th 2010), so could be accurate. If it is true however, we may even be seeing some of the more major characters such as Lightning in the game, great news for Final Fantasy fans.

honestly, i doubt many characters will make it into a spinoff. IMO i think it would be cool depending whether versus comes before or after, to see a grown up Hope who isn't such a pansy.
 
Cid Raines actually having a proper role would be wonderful! He showed some real potential in FFXIII...he was one of the few characters that did. I'd like to see him get a better role in Versus if this is true.
 
Holy shit I kinda guessed it. But will that make Lightning and the others come back as side characters that hep Noctis and the others? This made me happy. I hope its true. This is not a direct sequel though but
perhaps we will atleast see What happened to Team Nora cause they are nowhere to be seen after Eden.
Maybe we will at least get to see what happens after FF XIII'S ending.

So you mean voice actors? not the actual characters /npc or playable. You might wanna change the title of the thread cuz I really thought actual characters :P

IMDB =official so im pretty sure this news is 90-100% accurate.


Correction:

The names of Cid and Maqui is listed as well , so the actual characters ARE INDEED in Versus. That is quite awesome.

I really, really hope that these actors can do a bunch of different voices, much like Wakka/Kimahri's voice actor. Hopefully they're just hiring the same actors just... because. And they're being used for new characters.

That makes this sound a little bit more likely then I guess, as I'm taking your word for it. I was going to say before you made the correction that just because voice actors are returning, it doesn't mean that they will necessarily be voicing the same characters. :dave:

I don't know how true this is, so I'll remain very sceptical. But I would love to see Cid Raines make another appearance though, because he deserves more screentime. xD

Ya Olivia I really agree that Cid Raines needs more screentime. He was so epic and I wish we
fought him multiple times. Also VERSUS XIII better not be in chapters :ffs:

Hehe that was my point as well :P but when I checked out the link it seems it was confirmed ,that the actual chars are to be in Versus.

I think highly of IMDB since im using the site on a daily bases, pretty sure its 90-100% accurate and official it is. However see note below:

This is just an afterthought from me, but I find it suspicious that I have never heard of this before from any other site despite the fact that the "update" happened last month. I mean - a whole month for a piece of information (that probably isn't even right at all) to surface by a single video game website reporter? No other site picked this up. It's likely therefore that IMDB is blatantly wrong.

Not only that, but Nomura did say that Versus will be independent from FFXIII. I see no real reason why Maqui and Cid Raines would be in the game at all. The most likely scenario will probably be Versus characters being voiced by the voice actors of both Maqui and Raines. It's not unusual for actors to put on completely different voices and roles.

Yes I realise that, but it doesn't make IMDB completely infallible when it comes to information. It says so itself, that information is likely to change as Versus is still in development and behind closed doors.

I am optimistic at the idea of having Raines appear again, but honesty, I highly doubt I see that happening. If what IMDB says is true, it's been received in a very low-key way by the internet. That's why I'm sceptical.

EDIT: Ah, so it is like Wiki. Tut tut, you may have to lose your month salary. :8F:

I hope its correcct, but I guess you're right about this one FLeur....I had me hopes up...Cid would have been awesome in Versus and maQui as well , I love both their looks/design/outfit, they are awesome indeed .
 
Well we can only hope this is true. Right now I say we wait for a response from Tetsuya Nomura. And what Olivia said is true. Nomura said i is different form FF XIII. Personally if Lightning appeared it would be cool. But this is supposed to be the darkest FF yet and Lightning was really badass. But let us see. I still have hopes here and there.
 
Same voice actors doesn't necessarily mean same characters, but if character names have been confirmed in Versus from FFXIII, that is mighty tangible to speculate about.

However, this is Nomura's game we're talking about here. I'm more inclined to think these guys are ancestors more than the actual characters :hmmm:

Who knows? Maybe Versus takes place way after FFXIII on Gran Pulse, but the humans urbanized it like crazy and former signs of wild dangerous terrains have long since perished.

Seriously, what was wrong with the chapter format? I didn't zomg love it, but I don't see what the problem was with it :huh:

Other games have "chapters" in the game story, but I haven't seen any complaints about them.

(also not singling you out - a lot of people seem to have this opinion, but it's reasons escape me)

No... No it's not really.. It's worse than a Wiki because it's run by fans, for fans. If anybody sees a little snippet of info, they instantly throw it in there. I remember one trolling circumstance when someone cited wrong info about Terra's VA a year ago, and everybody jumped on it, throwing it in IMDB and blogging about it.

I mean, the fact that all the FF's on IMDB are labeled as Fainaru Fantaji because their weabooness insists they do so... come on. :mokken:
 
I dont understand how it would work. I mean, if anything it would have to take place after the main story, plus like said above, it would be independent anyways.
 
I don't see the need the bring Final Fantasy XIII characters into Versus XIII. Imo, the characters we've already seen look far superior to any character in FFXIII and the Versus XIII is wholly independent from FFXIII anyway so the characters couldn't be in it, it's not a spinoff, sequel or prequel. And to be fair to Versus XIII, I think more fans are looking forward to this than they did for XIII. I'd regard Versus XIII the main game if anything.

Hopefully, like Fusion said, it may just be the voice actors otherwise the game will be screaming a lack of originality.
