We've all spent heavily on something and then got home and thought: "Shit, I really shouldn't have spent that much on this...today." For me, it's almost always on video games. Whenever I go to Gamestop to get whatever game just came out that I want, I always have to get some other old $30 game to go with it so "I don't have to play the new one right away." It's really annoying seeing as I also feel the need to get Subway right afterwards.

I also spent about $300 on my drafting table. I don't regret spending that much because I was going to get a drafting table anyway, but for a poor college student like me, that's large money. :C

Spending books every semester is irritating as well. This Fall I've spent over $300 on books.

I think your drafting table is worth every penny :D thats awesome..and yes I have to pay a lot bills yet I bought a ps3 slim even though i have major debts, i dont care I wanna enjoy life and that ps3 is something I HAD TO HAVE. I smoke also, thats like 20 bucks a week only on cigarettes.. I try to buy games at low price,30 euro is deemable, had to buy mw2 fullprice and dragon age was 40 bucks, but i love gaming it takes away the stress, you just need to check what you have to pay for fixed bills and what you have left spend for your own desire..but you do need to prioritise.

Some things are more important than games etc..school en fixed payments like bills always comes first.

I usually do this when I'm hungover. I got a PS3 after New Year and was flat broke for the whole month, bought an iPod hungover as well... though that wan't as expensive :wacky:

Recently it's been clothes and shoes, I spent 70 odd quid in primark, then I went back the following week, spent another 35, spent more in New Look, and got 2 pairs of Converse off ebay. Oh and a skirt. So yeah, Ive kinda over done it.... I have managed to not go over drawn and my bills are all paid at least, so it's not too bad just yet :wacky:

I did feel bad about the PS3 alll month though :8F:

With me it's DVDs and CDs. I can so easily spend about £80 in HMV in one sitting, and then go back the next day and find something else I want. :sad3:
The way I justify it is that if I've paid with my card, it's money that I've never seen anyway so what's there to be worried about? Getting paid weekly helps too, as does my maintenance loan. This year I'll be paying for more bills than before because I'm moving to a new place, so I suppose I'll have to try and ease off the spending a bit.

I'm not like normal girls who will shell out on clothes and shoes. I raid the clearance rack at Wal-Mart for cheap tops, and one pair of shoes will last me a year or two.

Mine would be my FF Fig collection... I've spent hundreds upon thousands of dollars on it. >_> Every paycheck I probably buy one or two figs cheapishly or if I save, I get a slightly more expensive one... this time, after my bf's plane ticket has been paid for, I'm celebrating on getting a custom statue of Seph and Aerith, mid death scene.

...it's $400.. I already put down a hundred deposit on it. :awesome:

...gawd I'm lame.

Gah, that just reminded me of every time I've gone into Barnes & Noble (bookstore). I haven't ever gone out of there without buying something, whether it's a couple magazines on photoshop, or a $60 book on landscaping. That's why I rarely go there now because I know I'll be spending tons if I go there once a week or so.

Whenever I go to the dentist, I'm always outraged on how much everything costs. I've dropped roughly $500 a few times before leaving the dentists office for crowns (I have like 3 or 4 of them, so imagine how much I've spent on dental work :hmph:). Insurance only covers something like 40% for crowns, mainly because it's sort of cosmetic, so you pay a lot out of pocket for it. I forget how much the root canal cost, but that was pricey too, and that does get covered mostly by the insurance. If only my teeth didn't suck so badly. :jtc:

The only times I get to the point where I wish I didn't spend as much as I did are when I'm with Steve or my best friend. >.<

Alone I have very good self control and tell myself, 'No. I don't need that.'

However, when I'm with them they always seem to convince me to buy whatever it is and I'm happy at the time of course, but when I get home I feel a bit sick, knowing that I spent a great deal of money when I should have been saving. >.<

But I'm not one who will buy things when there are bills to pay.

If I do happen to be out when I'm broke (stupid idea) then I am a lot more strong-willed and can make myself say no, even when I'm with friends. >.<

For me it's food and drink at my school's cafeteria. I tell myself every single week that I should stop spending my money there and pack my own lunch instead, but it hasn't happened yet. So unlike you guys I don't even have anything to show for it other than a pasta bake grease stain which I can't for the sake of my life wash out of my shirt :wacky:

This usually happens when I'm at Gamestop or Target...especially Target. I buy quite a few miscellaneous things from that store even if it's not necessary. From DVDs, games, accessories, clothing, random household items, school supplies for my daughter even though she's good on those, etc. I'll sometimes find random items at our apartment and toss them out even if they're still quite brand-new. And then I think, "Why did I even get that at the time?"

For Gamestop, it's all about a brand-new game, and then another cheaper game ($20-$30) to go along with it. When I'm at Gamestop, I always think, "Ah, this would be a good addition to my PS3 or XBox 360 collection." For instance, I bought MW2 a few months ago. I'm not really a fan of FPS game, but I bought it anyway for two reasons: folks here play it a lot, so I figured I might as well join in on the fun...and the fact that the price went down $20. Do I play it a lot? No. xD But it's sitting pretty in my collection of games, so I guess that counts for a cool view until I have my cousins over and they want to play.

Eh, I do not really have a problem with impulsive buying except for small stuff.

Like I have to have a beef jerky to go with that Dr. Pepper, or a slice of Pizza. Something to eat.

So far, I'm doing really good on expenses. :hmmm:
At most I spend around a hundred dollars a month for supplies and food. At this rate, I've pushed the date when I'll be broke all the way back to at least early 2012. :awesome:

I really need a job. :wacky:

welll

now that i dont have a job and i have 80 USD i can:
  • take an old high school friend out to some shitty expensive cafe like starbucks
  • buy Fable III
  • renew my World of Warcraft subscription and buy Cataclysm xpac
  • design a diet
  • skip out on my drivers test and get a new video card
  • purchase gutiar lessons and new, desperately needed strings
Fuck my life, so many decisions, so little money. :hmph:

I'm horrible with money. I think it's an impulse I inherited from my father. He's exactly the same way. While it tends to lean towards games, it's actually centers around food and on my friends. I think the friends part is due to the fact that I almost never have money (because I'm... well, horrible with money) and I'm constantly bumming cash off of them for food. So, whenever I have money I try to pay them back by buying them things. I guess it's subconscious guilt.

I spend a lot of money on video games. Some of my games that I have I haven't been able to play yet because I'm still playing the other ones. I do that too with movies. I have some movies I've had for over a year and I have yet to watch them. They looked good at the time but not anymore. I buy on an impulse, I see it and I buy it. I do that a lot when I go to a shop and I can't find what I'm looking for, I can't leave without buying something!

I dont really think ive ever bought anything and regretted spending the money on it. Sure things are expensive but if i get enjoyment out them then i dont really think about the money. I can relate though. Every morning after i night out i think, whyyy did i spend that much? When you wake up to have nothing to show for your night other than a hangover it can be a bit of a bummer. Sure you have a good time but when i think of the other things i couldave spent the money on i feel a bit annoyed.

Ah, I'm gonna be horrible with money management. If a relative gives me, even just 20 dollars, it'll be gone before you can even see it in my hand.

My big reasons are that I'm trying to complete my WWE DVD collection. Everybody knows I love it. So naturally that's the first thing I'd buy with money in my hand.

Second is finishing my FF collection. I'm waiting to get 1-6 on ps1. Then I'll find some way to get 7. Don't care much for 3.

So when I start making my own money, I'm gonna be horrible with controlling my urges to purchase a DVD or game. I always spend any money I get at the most a day later. I'm just pretty crazy.

i never buy anything. i withdraw all my money every month and stash it in a sock and once every 7.5 months i fly over to uganda and burn a pile of money in front of starving, aids-ridden children.

just to show them that i dont need money and also to show them that they dont need it either. if they just stop shagging aidsy people and drinking dirty water then they wont live such hellish lives.
