Doctor Who

I'm quite impressed with Matt Smith. I thought it was a great episode, and Smith thankfully didn't try to totally copy David Tennant in his style.

My only two problems are the new sonic screwdriver (GREEN?!) and too many changes to the TARDIS. I'm all for a new look, but I think it's too different now. ):

Exactamundo :mokken:

Everything is soooo new, and the changes are bugging me. I just watched this episode because of Matt Smith being the new doctor and to see if he's as bad as the critics said.

Somethings are cheesy though, like Amy Pond (common name, female, etc.)

That being said, I enjoyed it. I really loved their acting and the fresh new look and feel.

I didnt bother. I love David Tennant and I know its not Smiths fault he left, but I wasnt too keen on watching it. Smith dissapointed me in Ruby in the Smoke. And Im not keen on this Pond girl. Why was she in a tiny skirt and police uniform??? No thanks.

I didnt liek the new screwdriver either ]:

Though, the episode it's self, I actually really enjoyed, I wasn't optimistic about it OR the new doctor but I was very surprised to find I instantly liked his character and thought the episode was ace as well

I hope it starts as it means to go on!

Because she's a kiss-o-gram.

At least give it a chance, Doctor Who existed before Tennant and it will continue to exist now and after Matt Smith. You're writing it off just because of a change in personnel.

Thats not it. It could have been anyone else other then Matt Smith, Im just not drawn to it as much as I was before. I use to watch the old Dr Who before Tennant came along, but Im not motivated for this run through as I was for the David Tennant one and the Christopher Eccleston run.

My interest in it has sort of decreased over time, mainly because I have other things to do at the times when it's normally on. I'm willing to give the new guy a go, though, because when Ecclestone left I didn't think I'd like David Tennant and I loved him!
Also, his assistant seems quite nice this time. I loved Billie Piper, hated Freema Agyman (probably spelt that wrong...) and didn't care much for Catherine Tate either. But his new girl seems like an alright character.

I think the new series and the new doctor is looking great so far. Hopefully the whole series is going to pick up and be a lot better than the last ones. I enjoyed the last ones on the whole but there were quite a few episodes that didn't feel right. With new writers (or at least with the writers who did some of the more memorable episodes in the last seasons) behind the show it looks to be on the up.

Hopefully there will be a bit less of the London and Cardiff vs alien invasion episodes in general. Even though this first episode was pretty much like that (though not in London and Cardiff which was great) it didn't feel badly made at all.

The new Doctor is great in my opinion. It always takes a bit of time to adjust to a new Doctor so I'm sure if people give him a chance then they'll love him. He got a lot of criticism right when he was announced and hopefully people will realise that he's quite good now. I was hoping I could trust their judgement in choosing him, and I'm glad that for me at least I was right.

As for the green sonic screwdriver I don't mind too much. I think it looks quite cool.

What did people think of the new title sequence?

I didn't think much of the new opening credits. I understand that Moffat is going for a darker tone to the series, and that's reflected in the titles, but the whole thing was a bit dull and boring, I thought. Plus they changed the music too much.

I found out today that River Song will return in the episode with the Lonely Assassins, which will be a double episode. Can't wait for that now.

I quite like them. It takes a few listens to appreciate them fully and for them to grow on you. I like the animation better with the storm and lightning. The music is a lot more dramatic but keeps its quirkiness and is still very much the Doctor Who theme tune.

I finally got around to watching the episode.

Matt Smith's not a bad Doctor so far. He may have been a bit loopy and mad at the beginning, but I do feel his performance got better as he progressed through the episode. I'm loving the new look to the TARDIS as well. Out with the old and in with the new, I guess.

Oooh, can't wait to see how that pans out

just had to iPlayer it again, I swear I'll get to watch this on TV one day, curse it being on on a Saturday >_<

Another really good episode I thought, I really enjoyed it. Ending made me baw, not that it takes much mind.

I caught episode 2 on catchup cause there was nothing else on TV and I thought it was excellent. I loved Liz Ten, and the episode was really engaging.

The new Doctor is still growing on me though, I didn't like how angry he got with Amy, that was a bit off D=

Anybody else feel as though Mr. Smith is trying to be a bit too David Tennant? From Eccleston to Tennant, there was a definite shift in personality that made them both equally lovable... but Smith seems a bit trying, almost Tennanty... Maybe because I miss him. </3

Oh I do, it's about time we saw more of his darker side

And yeah, I think he's abit tennanty myself, but not like, overly so, I like it. I'm shocked at how much I really like this dude as the new doctor tbh :8F:

I think he's a mix of a fair few Doctors, there is some Tennant in there but you can say there's also some Ecclestone and Tom Baker too. He's still establishing his own persona this early on.

I don't think Matt Smith is like Tennant at all, and that's why I love him. I was really worried that he'd just try to fill his boots too much, but he really made the role his own and its worked out really really well.

Watched the second episode last night and thought it was a definite improvement from the first one. Loved Liz Ten. It was confusing at some parts, but I guess that's Moffat for you. I'm starting to really like Amy, but not too sure about the Doctor yet. Guess I just need to see more of him in action first.

Is there gunnabe a romance blossoming? Im not sure how I feel about that :hmmm:
