Fan Fiction Dissidia 012 Discussion

I've already seen Zidane's alt from the demo. Thought it was pretty nifty. :P

Why is Lightning dressed like the Crusaders in FF10 and why is she saluting that way? :p

@Spawn:
She's still a character in the game. And we don't know for sure if she's not playable. Assist characters are characters, it doesn't really matter if you can't play them or not...

Gil ruined my dreams of Faris being the game...oh well! Still have Edgar/Celes and Eiko/Beatrix to hope for, I suppose! :33

I think if we are to expect any new characters then they are going to be villains, or heroes turned villains. On the Chaos side nonetheless. I'm not keeping my hopes up any longer, and I'm now very happy and settled now that Gilgamesh is in it, but if there were any new characters then I can't imagine them giving us an heroes on the side of Cosmos.

Now who could the characters be, if we were to have any? Let's just keep with the idea that they could be from FFVI and FFIX for a moment.

For FFVI I'd like to either see Leo, an empire serving Celes, Ultros (as much as I love this idea, I can see that this is not going to happen :D - would rock ass as an assist though :hmmm:) or perhaps, and here is a wildcard, Strago during his
Cultist of Kefka
phase.

For FFIX I'd love to see them add Zorn and Thorn somehow. Perhaps they could work with a kind of tag-team element (though that would conflict with the already existing assist system), and their EX-Mode could have them
merge into Meltigemini
. They had more of a connection to Garnet and Eiko though, so I don't see them being used. Black Waltz won't show, since we don't have Vivi. Beatrix has more of a chance now that Zidane is in the Pluto Knight armour, however slim, but I think that she is the most popular character who could easily be allied to Chaos. Another suggestion could be FFIX's Garland (a most crucial character for Zidane), though the idea of two Garland's in a single game might confuse people who aren't well acquainted with Final Fantasy, and they'd probably decide against it.

We may be done for characters now, but if we were going to get any new ones then I think it might be one of those from each. If not any of them, then to me it would be quite the surprise.

Beatrix could be the "evil" for 9. Remember,
she was evil at first too, just like Gabranth, Jecht and Kain
. So she would be very likely for the role, though IX might not even get anyone...

They should get rid of all the infinites, glitches and lag in Ad-Hoc Play. The lag is just so frustrating.

I like Terra's, Yuna's, Kain's, Cecil's, Jecht's, Buntz and Kekfa's. xD

Kefka looks like a fish. I wanted to say that before when his alt was revealed, but I forgot to. That little thing over his ear reminds me of the flippers of the water-things in the old Zelda games xD

Truth be told, I like Kefka's 3rd alt. Makes him more like his sprite in the original, which is what I remember most.

Also, am I the only one who thinks, when you look at Lightning's 3rd alt. "Bring out the gimp"? Seriously, I'd expect a twentysomething dude in a gay bar to be wearing that sort of hat. (No offense to masochists or homosexuals intended - it's just too stereotypical.)

Lightning's alt. outfit is worn by female soldier enemies in FFXIII if I remember right. They did stand out a bit, so I guess it makes sense to take an outfit from them. Real annoying bitches too. Friggin' casting all those support spells in 2 seconds, wtf -__-

Also, squee at all them icons. I didn't realize Firion's head gear had horns like WoL :lew:

Loving those icons :lew: They're fun to see. xD

Has anyone posted this?

"In Europe, a special limited edition will be released and will include a special packaging, an artbook, a mini-OST and a fourth costume for Tifa."

I didn't know about it, and it's from wiki... which means it may not be reliable, but honestly, wiki is sometimes. :lew: So I figured I'd post it, since I don't remember seeing it.

That fourth outfit would be Amano Tifa probably. Cause there's regular Tifa, AC Tifa, Hooker Tifa and then Amano Tifa. Cause they were saying Amano Tifa would be DLC or included in some sort of package deal elsewhere.

^ I remember hearing about that a long while ago. I just wonder what her 4th costume will be in the package: Amano or Nibelheim?

EDIT: STOP CALLING IT HOOKER TIFA PERSON WITH FREEDOM OF SPEECH! :rage:

Oh yeah, so does anyone have any thoughts about voice actors for the characters that never had a voice before?

For Gilgamesh, I've heard people speculate it could be done by the VA who did Gilgy in FFXII, but I dunno...They felt like different characters, so maybe there would be a different VA.

Curious about who would do Laguna. I mentioned before I could imagine Reuben Langdon doing it (DMC 3/4 Dante), but could there be anyone else?

I never played FFXI, but did Prishe have a English VA already?

Yay Gilgamesh ! Though I have a feeling that FF6 and FF9 are going to be ignored and not get any new characters, because Lighting needs a villain for her story. Sigh, this is making me so sad, because the new FF6 and FF9 characters were the most I was looking forward too. :sad3:

I'll be in my room crying over the heartbreak. Sometimes I dislike you SE for not noticing how much love FF6 and FF9 has. *sniff, sniff *- tear-. :sad3:

I saw a website showing the release date of Dissidia Duodecim 012 Final Fantasy. Here are the following release dates:

JP-March 3rd 2011
NA-Q2 2011
EU-March 25th 2011
AUS-March 2011

Are this the correct release date? If it is then that means that the NA version will be released approximately 1-2 months after the Japanese release date according to this website.

http://www.vgreleases.com/psp/ReleaseDate-825987.aspx

Why would the NA release date be 2 months after the Japanese one if the EU one is only roughly a month later than the Japanese date? :ness:

More likely than not, NA will be between, or the same as the EU one.

I remember hearing that Square Enix will release Dissidia Duodecim to all the continents at the same time, meaning in the same month. So March is the month that is going to be released then?

hey on another note :) the demo for the game is great.. brought it a couple of days ago and i'm having a great time with it... it's harder on two things..

1. chase are a lot harder as there are must quicker.. i see myself chasing less and less

2. god i'm staying on the ground... like on dissidia... i was in the air most of the time but in dissidia 012.. i'm on the ground much more

3... assists are really fun.. but they can be a real pain.. like onion knight... attack + overdrive + near wall + yuna assist with shiva + flare by onion knight = owned :/

and yh onion knight seems to be able to chain flare and quake after a assist attack because twice i got hit by flare straight after being hit by a assist...

I'd love Dante's VA for Laguna, it's so fitting, going by some of his battle lines :lew: and tbh, I am semi hoping for FF12 Gilgamesh as long as FF5 Gilgamesh isn't made too serious as a result :hmmm:

I hope Kain gets his FF4 DS VA, I loved that one :ryan: and hopefully Tifa gets her AC VA.

I hope that they do a much better job with voice overs for some of the new characters than they did last time. I felt that most of the characters from the earlier games in particular (1-6) didn't have their full characters shine through. I understand that they'll likely be bringing all these VAs back, and I respect that, but I hope that perhaps the characters are better, and then perhaps the VO will improve naturally. I at least hope that the new characters have voices which really stand out and capture them.

As for Gilgamesh, I wouldn't mind the FFXII voice - though I don't really remember it / I didn't get that far, but have seen youtube videos of him.

I think fans are divided over the possibility that Gilgamesh in FFXII is the same as the Gilgamesh from FFV and FFVIII (some even question his appearance in FFVIII), but other fans do treat them as the same dimension-hopping Gilgamesh. Since Gilgamesh is speaking through a hole in the void in the trailer, it would seem as if SE are making use of the whole dimension-hopping joke with Gilgamesh, and that would be rather interesting.

As for other characters... I don't know the names of VAs involved in this kind of game, so I can't possibly make any suggestions. I think the more important thing for me would be that the characters are given interesting storylines, and interesting roles which help reflect their home FF game selves. I don't want to feel as if the dullest characters are the ones from the earlier games (especially FF4 and FF6), as to me in the actual games I felt that some of the most amazing characters were from those games.
