Fan Fiction Dissidia 012 Discussion

Just saw some youtube battle vids of Vaan, Tifa, Laguna and Lightning :hmmm:

From what I can make out, Vaan uses all of FF12's weapons (I saw a katana, gun, bow and hand-to-hand) as well as plenty of magic (saw a water spell, earth spell and some kind of fire based charge attack)

And Laguna does indeed have Desperado, the beginning has you controlling Laguna's shooting while he's in the air and following up with the Ragnarok Cannon which from what I hear is a japanese thing because of Laguna's and the Ragnarok's japanese names sounding similar which we wouldn't see on the English version obv.

Also apparently Laguna uses his machine gun, a rocket launcher, a shotgun and a sniper rifle as well as some kind of laser cannon which must be the Ragnarok thing.

Also, Vaan uses the Tournesol from FF12 in EX mode and perches on his sword for his victory pose, Laguna has his old FF8 victory pose :hmmm:

i just seen yuna in battle from the live stream........ she looks ace and she summoned valfor :)

also.. there was a scene in the trailer where tidus was talking to jecht and tidus was in different cloths and toplesss.... yuna joins the conversation

I am very happy with what I saw, and the Gilgamesh clip at the end made me laugh. Also I remember that Prishe girl now that I've seen her, thinking about it, I was sorta expecting her to get in. :hmmm:

Overall, I'm unhappy at the way things have panned out, and even I acknowledge that that's very strange. Yes, WoL's new costume gets seven thumbs up from me (I'm going to have to harvest them myself, I know...), yes, the addition of Gilgamesh is seventeen different flavours of win and Yuna's playstyle is (pleasantly and very surprisingly) different from what I've come to expect...

But... Prishe?
Come on... Though I haven't played FFXI at all, I know Prishe is a producer/director/lead animator's Author Insertion somewhere along the line and it's only through massive string pulling that she hasn't been buried on the scrap heap a long time ago. Her character is annoying, she's a Mary Sue from here to eternity and her link to Chaos is...?
No, somebody's meddling here, and the fact that they chose Prishe, a girl with attitude problems and what I gently like to call "sucks-to-be-meitis" over no less than 4 other main villains (the shadowlord being a glaring example) has soured my view.

Maybe later I will be able to appreciate this development for the good, rather than the bad, but for now... now, I need to take some distance. I know my reasoning is based on personal feelings, but I can't help it - I have been poisoned against Prishe that badly.

It would be cool if they include her in the full game and not just as a DLC character. :sad3:

So... is she just an assist character? I know that site said she was, but could it be wrong? And are assist characters picked by players?

A lot of changes today...

First of all, wows and awesomes for Gilgamesh. :hmmm: :-)woot:!)

I think it would be quite hard to imagine that voice at the end to be anyone but Gilgamesh. I'm really looking forward to seeing him.

Prishe... I have no idea who she is (other than being someone from FFXI), but I'm not going to moan about it for this reason.

The alt costumes for Warrior of Light and Garland look great. I'm particularly glad that they're finally giving Warrior of Light the fighter / warrior / knight costume that I'd hoped would be an alt in the first game.

As for Aerith being an assist. That's really quite awesome. Hopefully this will mean that more characters will appear in this way, increasing the roster by a signifcant amount. Even if we don't get to play as them properly it would still be ace to see them help out once in a while. I hope we get quite a few of these, replacing the old summon system.

Oooh, I'm actually quite impressed with them alts, and more impressed than I thought I'd be at Yuna's wedding dress. I also love Bartz's sprite outfit.

Also, diggin' Lightning's alt, but where did that come from exactly?
 
what's with lightning's clothes? :hmph: she looks so weird. Yuna looks pretty. Thanks for the pictures!
 
That's a Guardian Corps outfit. I didn't even finish XIII and I know that :mokken: Which gives Light a total of what... 4 so far?
