Final Fantasy VII: the most critically-acclaimed Final Fantasy title and yet we’re still waiting on Square Enix to announce a remake. Although Square has yet to officially announce it, Final Fantasy: The Crystal Bearers (Wii) producer Akitoshi Kawazu and director Toshiyuki Rahans have shared their thoughts on a remake in a new interview.

Kawazu and Rahans laugh and respond (through a female human translator) “Uhm, probably a remake of Final Fantasy VII, probably someone within the company is probably gonna do that, but of course, it’s not me.” She (the translator) laughed again. “And though, if they, someone wants to do the remake version of Final Fantasy VII, it’s going to be like a huge project. And also, with the current technical specifications, it’s going to be quite hard to that for the remake of Final Fantasy VII. It’s going to be difficult, but probably someone is going to do it.”

The interview was done by Final Fantasy Ring, a French Final Fantasy fan site. However, the audio file of the interview was done in English, which is where we’ve taken the quote from (around the 30:30 mark).

I wish someone would just turn around and go "No, there will not be a remake" there's absolutely no need for one. Though, I'd take what they say with a grain of salt, if there's going to be an announcement on Final Fantasy VII then it will definitely come from either Kitase, Wada or Nomura.

I'd be lying if I said that I can't see an FF7 remake at all. I think every Final Fantasy will face the inevitable destiny of eventually being remade, like the old ones are now, and possibly remade multiple times. FF7's massive popularity dictates that a remake be made. But after the negative feedback SE have been recieving lately over them basically going overkill with FF7, I can see it being a while off.

My personal opinion; Maybe in 5-10 years, but at the moment, I've had my fill of FF7 that'll last me a good while.

I would kill for the CEO of SE to just show up on camera one day and state, "NO! We are NOT going to make a remake. That will be all." Then stroll back to his office, sit down on his chair made of money, and laugh at the FFVII fanboys while counting more stacks of money.

It seriously doesn't need to be made, and I hope it never does. If they do in fact make a remake, they should have the decency to go back and remake all the others. Hell, while they're at it, why not just make four or five shitty spin-offs for the rest of the games too. Because we all know that Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest needs a movie, an anime film, and 3 other games...

I rather wish they didn't bother remaking Final Fantasy VII at all. SE should concentrate on new, original projects instead of pouring time and resources into a remake that isn't necessarily needed at all. FFVII as a downloadable version is sufficient enough. A game doesn't need next-gen graphics, updated CGI of epic proportion and voiceovers to be great. It's just fanboys being desperate. There is the danger of SE spoiling certain parts if the game is remade.

I think it'd kill whatever made people enjoy FFVII in the first place.

It's far too overrated.

I agree with .Swift in that they should concentrate on making bigger and better things.

They simply need to move on instead of working off a project that started years ago.

It shows their lack of creativity.

Surely they must be getting bored re-doing this game in so many different ways.

It'd be cool to see the game in better graphics in such, but I don't think it's really all that necessary.

Though no doubt it will be done. XD

I admit that I kind of roll my eyes when people want FFVII to be the FF game to be remade the most. I like a lot of FF games and would love to see them remade too.

On the other side, I don't think people should be so miffed about the idea of a remake. Although no one has said so in concrete words, odds are FFVII will be remade. It's just a matter of waiting.

That said, I'm anticipating FFV and FFVI remake announcements and when FFVII get's done, FFVIII and FFIX are what I'll be looking forward too :awesome:

FF8 = Remade ....OMGWTFLOL that would truly be the best FF title for the whole century
Amen (H)

FF7 = highly overrated, I dont want to see a remake of tht one, but FF8 wow....makes me fantasize :)

for now, I don't wanna see any talk of a FF7 remake until people stop demanding it. Besides, I'm waiting for FF5 and 6 to remade into 3-D.....

I am a die-hard FFVII fan, but honestly, i would not like to see it remade at all... the spinoffs are fine and such... but if it was remade, it would disgrace it more than it already has been with all of the useless spinoffs....

If it's not annouced before FFXV is then I think FFVII fanboys can say goodbye to a possible remake for a long time to come. I think some people underestimate how much time it would take to remake and think it's a simple as making the graphics better which even then would take a long time. Just look at how many graphical changes FFXIII has had over the year. Then you've got to consider voiceovers, the new Crystal Tools engine that SE have now compared to over a decade ago and even then you've got to consider the old Final Fantasy fanbase who won't want much changed and the newer fanbase who may want to see different things.

It wouldn't just be a direct remake, that's for sure.
