I am currently on disc four of Final Fantasy IX and this has inspired me to make this thread about who the most obnoxious bosses are and why. Also, please
blackout
any spoilers.

Kraken (FFIX) - Screw this boss! She took too damn long to kill. I had to revive/recover my allies and she would kill them right away. Plus she had those stupid heads that you had to kill first. I did not lose to her but, as I said before, she took too damn long to kill. I used Solution 9 three times on that boss, damn woman!

Trance Kuja (FFIX) - If there was ever an award for over-spamming, Kuja would take the cake. He used his super flare every five seconds; it was like he didn't even have an ATB gauge. I barely beat him, Zidane went into trance and I used Solution 9.

Necron (FFIX) - I didn't even get a chance to save after
I beat Kuja
. So I had to redo the whole thing after I lost. I still have yet to beat him although I only versed him once. He's just a beast with his magic.

Emerald Weapon (FFVII) - I don't even think that an explanation is necessary for this guy. Whenever he came around I just resurfaced the sub to avoid fighting him. Even with Knights of the Round materia he's still a pain.

Crimson Weapon (FFVII)
-
You try talking to a dude in the desert then BAM it turns out to be a giant red monster!
I was not prepared the first time, it lasted five seconds. I was prepared the second time, it lasted fifteen seconds. It seems like the only weapon you can beat is the
Ultimate Weapon
. I even had Cloud's/Vincent's Ultimate Weapons and Knights of the Round but he was just too quick and finished me before I could start.

The Nerapas and Naughties
on the Floating Island
in FFVI :jtc: They may not be regular bosses, but I still consider them to be mini-bosses in a sense because you can't escape the battles. But yeah, they know you're on a timer, and they still get in your face and start crap with you, and won't let you run away :rage: Plus they do a considerable amount of damage, and I'm pretty sure at least one or the other of them casts Merton, which is a bad spell to have cast on you :sad3:

Pretty much all of the eidolon battles in XIII are just frustrating trial-and-error nonsense. I honestly think it's impossible to beat Hecatoncheir on your first try. I've played through the game twice and had to retry him at least two times in both playthroughs.

Chaos in Dissidia is just no fun to fight.

The Carry armour from FF7. I find him to be a hard and obnoxious boss because he has the power to grab two characters at once and completely numb them, so you're left with one fighter. And if the two characters that are lifted up by the carry armour die, you have to defend yourself with just one fighter, and have to phoenix down your fallen allies in time while he's pummeling you with heavy hits. I've died many times trying to defeat this guy. I hated
reno for many years for summoning him out on you

+ Any and every boss that puts a Doom count on you in FFXIII. In a pathetically easy game, you're suddenly kicked into something extremely difficult and frustrating.
+ Evrae (FFX) - My GOD, this thing was a fucking nuisance. Halved elemental damage, constant breathing in for debilitating poison attacks, which half the time you couldn't pull the ship out of the way to avoid...this one got on my nerves.
+ Yiazmat (FFXII) - He's got over fifty million health. FIFTY. MILLION.
+ The Undying (FFXII) - He does stupidly high amounts of damage, and throws up two Palings that make him immune to physical AND magical attacks for about five minutes.
+ Neslug (FFX) - This thing is highly aggravating. You have to take off an impossibly large amount of damage to get the shell to break...if you don't, it retreats into it's shell, becomes practically immune to damage, and then casts Auto-Regen on itself.
+ Shinryu (FFX) - STOP. USING. ERASER. :rage:
+ Edea (FFVIII) - Maelstrom is such an annoying attack.

Literally nothing made me ragequit as much as barthandelus in FFXIII. I didn't really enjoy XIII very much anyway, but that boss was hideous and the music that played whilst you fought him nearly made me lose my mind!!

VII: The lost number. He is overpowered at this stage in the game unless you are completely buffed with mighty guard or have leveled up a bit extra before hand.

X: Yunalesca. Seriously annoying. I hate being zombied, and it took me forever to find out that the east way to win this battle is too stay zombied and not cure that status.

XII: Yizamat. Like the man said.....50 million HP....

X: fucking shinryu. Seriously wakka is the only person I didnt have his CW. I hate blitzball and beating this bastard when he makes my guys dissappear sucked.

There are small spoilers below, only telling locations of bosses.

Well ive played every final fantasy and I have few bosses that were hard and took inleast more then 1 try to beat...

Final Fantasy X- Yunalesca....very close to end of game
Final Fantasy VIII- BGH251F2 and the 2 guards....Galbadia Missile Base( It was only hard if you didnt have high level magic early in the game)
Final Fantasy I/II Dawn of Souls- Shinru
Final Fantasy VII- Ruby Weapon
Final Fantasy IX- Ozma
I'd have to say that the hardest ever RPG boss for me was DDS 1 Super boss, I cant even explain to you guys how hard it is...

I Would say Golbez in FFIV DS . Usually and when you just have casted Ifrit he changes weaknes and you end up giving him more HP.

and Chaos from Dissidia Final Fantasy. Pain in the ass and still have not beaten him.

I'm pretty sure Dissidia Chaos is just plain cheating. I was level 90 with the character I finally beat him with, and even that was barely enough to do the trick. His attacks are all possible to dodge, but require literally perfect timing - it's more luck than skill.

For pure annoyance factor, any boss with a "shell/counter" mode, where they go into their nearly invincible/fully invincible state and dish out truly punishing counters if you're foolish enough to attack them. There's almost one per game, and it's not a fun game mechanic, just an irritating one.

Yes I hate those. It's like they just want to bug you. It's not interesting because there's nothing to figure out but "Hey don't attack" and if you get bored or something and hit the attack button lots (like me) then you almost always end up attacking it before you notice it changed, and you end up dead.

I hate enemies that change immunities between attack and magic. It's boring, and it's cheap. And it's like grinding.

Hasn't anyone bothered to say Ultemecia (last form)?

BAM and your curaga is gone..........BAM and your shell is gone *sigh*

Really she did piss me off......I don't think my characters were under-levelled I'd spent days just levelling up prior to this battle. And I normally rely on GF's to eliminate my enemies but it really pissed me off when you couldn't use them. My characters weren't really good at attacking with their weapons.........and the most annoying thing, was she would get rid of all your magic. In the end I beat her by just drawing magic from her (forgot what it was) and using it on her.......It took me ages to kill her.......One of the main reasons because she kept blowing away my 99 curagas I stored for the battle!! :rage: Had to rely on x-potions after that.

I don't think I have gotten that far in FFVIII in the years I have owned that game :ffs:

For me it has to be nearly every single boss in FFXIII if you weren't progressed enough on the crystarium your life expectancy was about 0.01% as well as not having a well thought out strategy, i.e. rushing in with COM, COM, COM = immediate failure.

Barthandelus was one of the most annoying bosses in that game! followed by orphan, even some of the monster late on in the game were impossible to defeat if you weren't tough enough. :sad3:

To be fair though FFXIII did require the player to be more strategic in battles........going in COM,COM,COM would be an immediate failure in most battles, but in previous FF's as soon as I get into a battle (boss or not) I go in all attacking, using no spells such as protect, bravery, haste, slow etc....But in FFXIII I found myself using spells such as the ones I said above as well as checking the stats and evrything.

I think most people who played this game just tackled the battles as they would for previous FF's(attack, attack and attack!!).....that may be because you get HP replenished at the end :hmmm: but even if you did I think this way of battling it out (using your head) is better than the traditional ways.

In FFXIII I've used defensive spells countless times......so much more than all the other FF's.

um.... i think that the king cactus thing from ff7 is a giant pain.... cause you die.....alot

Bahamut is a prick at low levels in FFVIII. I know everything scales to your level, but it does not necessarily mean that the scaling is set as intended. Sometimes, it's like that bastard just spams Mega Flare or whatever it is.

Bastard. Bastarding bastard bastard-pie.

Well my most annoying one is a stage rather than a boss...

In Final Fantasy Tactics Riovanes Castle third part... ANNOYING!
You have to keep Ralpha alive when she dies in one hit!!! ONE HIT!!!! and she moves to attack all the time on the first move! so its sooo annoying!!!!!

Chaos gave me trouble the first couple of times I versed him. I beat him then he came back to life and returned the favor. Eventually I gave up and focused on leveling up my characters. Once I got Cloud to level 100 I destroyed Chaos with each HP Attack causing a one (or two) hit K.O. It literally took two minutes.

Materia Keeper from Final Fantasy VII gave me a hell of a time. I was young and stupid, didn't understand much about how to use Materia. Also, I can't remember the exact name, I think it was Schizzo. It was a two headed dragon?
