“Three or four years ago we joked around about developing a Final Fantasy game on the Wii Fit balance board,” Kitase said at E3 last week (via C3).
[COMMENT: Somehow that could be an awesome quick-buck idea for a FFVII Snowboarding Wii release]

“But after seeing Wii U revealed at Nintendo’s conference, we are now considering the possibilities of bringing the Final Fantasy series to the format.”

Kitase is currently working on Final Fantasy XIII-2 for an early 2012 western release for PS3 and 360.

That would actually be amazing, finally Nintendo have a product capable of matching the other consoles in raw power. Though considering XIV is going to be online and is already in production, if XV is scheduled for next gen PS/Xbox I'm afraid wii U will fall behind in power again and not receive a 'real' FF game.

Oooh, another Crystal Chronicles game, perhaps? Whilst not exceptional, the majority of the instalments have been quite enjoyable.

I just hope they don't bring XIII-2 to Wii-U, its going to have enough crappy third-party games in it, no doubt.

I think they could make a new crystal chronicles game, yes. They can also consider Final Fantasy XV on the Wii U I guess. Although if it were to go multi platform.. that would be quite disappointing. WII U is going to compete with 360 and ps3 till their predecessors come out. XV should stay on Ps3.... or 360 since they did that with XIII and XIII-2. WII U is a choice though. What I want to know is when the hell they will finish Versus XIII. They say all this stuff, and that game does not even have a release date yet.

Not another spin off on nintendo's gimmick shit. I'm not buying their useless consoles to play just one game, so spare me it.

What is so "wow" about the nintendo Wii-U? Its a console you have a controller on the screen for... Sure it's nice, but it isn't like it's an amazing ting that is going change gaming forever...
But I'm guessing a lot of Crystal Chronicals things like the did for the gamecube. Maybe a new spin-off of Final Fantasy, But I can't see the main series jumping back to the Nintendo, not yet at least.

No,No,No,NO,NO!!

I don't know how these wii/nintendo FF games are.....But I think it's pretty obvious there nothing but failures and nowhere near a big hit. Besides there struggling with other projects such as Versus XIII and should be concentrating on XV. They don't need to start a new sequel-thingey or mere spin-offs.

The Wii U controller would be perfect for an FF game. Inventory and map when in the world, and ATB bars in battle! Sign me up, please!

Everything I've seen of Crystal Chronicles I've not been fond of. I found the gameplay boring, the character designs boring, and the locations boring. However, I'm not one to go along and lose faith in something forever and never ever give it a chance again, especially in gaming and even moreso especially when the chance comes along to present something new and innovative.

What I'm saying is, the title won't really matter to me, depending on what the game will offer, and if ever I get around to buying the Wii U, which would most likely happen eventually, with the titles announced and the fact that the console looked pretty fun, I'll be more than willing to give a new FF title on it a shot.

Theoretically for a new HD machine, they could just port FFXIII and FFXIII-2 for example over to the Wii U with an enhanced interface to fit around the new tablet controller. The word says "bringing", not essentially "making", so it could be possible. The system of dual screens works really well for RPGs on the DS (if developers bother using both screens effectively though) so I don't see why you can't have the menus on the tablet controller screen and all the action on the TV screen.

...or they can just assign another department to make a new Crystal Chronicles game, which reminds me, is Crystal Bearers any good? :gasp:

They need to stop EXPERIMENTING with new shit and get to work on finishing their current docket of games they've promised us a long time ago.

GET TO WORK SE /cracks whip.

They get sidetracked from the main focus, and want to make more shitty spinoffs and side projects. :rage:

As long as they keep making FF games for the PS3, I'm good. Port it or make wholly new original ones for Wii U, whatever.

Final Fantasy actually started out on Nintendo too, so maybe they want to see their series come back to Nintendo?

(or how about this for some chuckles-all the remakes we clamor for get remade for the Wii U)

Assuming for the moment that the balance board thing was a joke, I would love to see more Nintendo FF games. A lot of other people on here seem to have written the games off with little or no experience of Nintendo FF games. Whilst it's true they haven't all enjoyed the critical and commerical success that the main series games have, a lot of that can be put down to the simple fact that they are spin offs. Speaking honestly, and from experience, though, the first Crystal Chronicles game on GC was more fun to me than FF X, XII or XIII (basically any Sony or MS installment since IX). Nintendo's innovation and 'gimmicks' payed off here, and playing through with a bunch of friends on GBA link was amazing. I would strongly recommend everyone to cast their prejudices aside and remain open minded, because a Wii-U FF game could have so much potential. I for one would like to see a multiplayer style like the first CC game, using the Wii-U controller like the GBA link worked.

UGH. There is something very UGH about this. I mean, unless I can wield a sword for real or something, then no, and UGH.

This is interesting. :hmmm: I wonder if this is when they'll introduce FFV/VI remakes since people have been clamouring for HD console remakes of them? Could be an idea, SE....

I've got my doubts about if the Wii U would even be worth the buy or not. :hmmm: My regular Wii is sitting next to my tv and collecting a LOT of dust. That, and it looks like a bigger and bulgier version of a PSP, the way I see it. But we've all got our different tastes. I've previewed some of the FF Crystal Chronicle games before in the past, and I have played (and enjoyed) Crystal Bearers for the Wii, so if any kind of FF, it should be a Crystal Chronicles game. Though in all reality, SE should focus back on their main series rather than making all of these spinoffs .

As long as it isn't Final Fantasy XIII-3 I'll be cool with the direction. If they do it, I hope they bring a feel like Crystal Chronicles back. That game was really enjoyable, especially with friends and family, it offered a lot of fun even after you beat the game as well. I'd be interested in a Final Fantasy game like that, maybe enough to considered buying a Wii-U even though I just managed their other system. xD

I don't really see what all fuss is about, most people aren't going to play Final Fantasy on the Wii-U anyway if it's part of the main series of games. In honesty, yeah, it's great that Nintendo have finally managed to produce a handheld console, but what... 5/6 years too late when Microsoft and Sony will already be working on their next console. Too late Nintendo, too late. But good try. (y)

I don't even wanna know how many disks it would take for this thing to run an AAA title like Mass Effect.

One, I would imagine, considering that the Wii-U is considerably more powerful than either the 360 or the PS3.

Also, I doubt it will be a main series game, or even a part of a main series sub-franchise like XIII-2 or whatever. It will most likely be another FF spin off series, like Tactics Advance, or Crystal Chronicles, or possibly something completely new.
