FFV13's possible release date? (JP)

I'm looking forward to FF Versus XIII to the extent of purchasing a PS3 just to play this game -- considering it costs the equivalent to US$ 895,71 where I live, and a game is about US$ 128. I really hate how things are VERY expensive here, no wonder people regard the Brazillian consumer as one of the richest consumers of the world.

I heard that it was going to be released in 2012, although I highly doubt it, considering the disaster that struck Japan in March, and it made me really sad to know that they are halting Versus XIII's development so that they can aid XIII-2. It makes me very sad indeed.

Please release.

Well, my feelings got hurt. I was really looking fwd to this coming out, and looks like it won't now. Really sucks, imo. But I'm gonna be hopeful, and hope to see this come out anyways. I was really impressed with XIII, and wanna see more from this series come out.

It will. No worries, it hasn't been cancelled or anything, or else the top executives of Square Enix will likely be beheaded. It's just that no one has any idea when the game will finally cease being the vapourware it is and see the light of day. As I said already, a crude estimate of late 2012 for western shores seems the most likely as FFXIII-2 takes up the early 2012 release window slot. If not, then make it early 2013 even.

When it finally does come out, the question will be whether or not the game is worth the wait, worth the long years of little to no information and worth the exceptionally long era of hype. Or whether it will become like Duke Nukem Forever.

Well that is very relieving to hear. And I sure hope it don't end up like Duke Nukem 4ever. Even though I was never waiting years for that game anyhow. and from the little I've seen of versus, it appears that it will be beyond amazing. I'm holding the same hope for 13-2 actually. Replaying my game of 13 last few days..I got stuck on Vanille's esper fight, and realized when the game first came out, I coulda played smarter. But yeah, glad to hear this is coming out. And 13-2 coming out next year is sad. I thought it was set to be released in November?

I don't know where you hear about the November release from lol. It's currently scheduled to be out December 2011 in Japan, january 2012 for NA and early 2012 for Europe.

Versus without a doubt will have to be good. The huge amount of time it has been in development for can not possibly fail itself. If it were to fail itself, then that just will be a huge disappointment for everyone who likes FF, or are just waiting for the game. The little tidbits of the game are really not helping. SE said they want to put so much into Versus XIII and yet they are sharing so little. It surely does suck that they do such a thing. It can possibly mean that Versus is just going to be spectacular in the minds of the developers.. so they are trying so hard. They will just have to find a way to stop delaying it, and disappointing fans everywhere. They might put too much into this one game. The only sad thing about Versus is that we know so little. They offer to show us so little. Versus has to give everyone the wow. They might also just put too much into it, that it will become stupid. I love the whole idea... just hurry up and stop pushing it. SE will have to find time to release the game. As I have said previously, it has to be WOW. If it is not.. then people will just forget it ever existed. 2013 for release would be pretty sad if I do say so myself. I have stopped caring for Versus's shit tidbits of info. I have moved on to just waiting till Type-0 releases overseas.

I think specifically November 2012 because that's close enough for Christmas gifts and hopefully a December 2012 release date in North America since XIII-2 comes out less than a month after the Japan shipping.

...yet it happened to Duke Nukem Forever and uhh, oh - FFXIII, though to be fair, both games were suffering from development problems. :wacky:

I don't know about everyone else. but I'm walking into Versus with low expectations. I tend to think people who see Versus as being the Messiah of the series - saving it from the ruins after the last two rather polarising main games - are a bit too optimistic.

Purely the product of their own business decisions. They announce it back in 2006 and have since stuck to a new policy of keeping quiet about titles until the its release looms close. This would have easily been avoided if the announcement of Versus been postponed. They hadn't even made anything remotely playable or close to the final product of FFXIII when that was announced, so Versus had no chance. But hey - as long as it's shiny and grabs people's attention.

It can possibly mean that Versus is just going to be spectacular in the minds of the developers.. so they are trying so hard.
More like stepping up their game frantically because they know the people have been waiting since 2006. You could be on the team now, working on what could be on your mind the worst FF title yet, but you wouldn't care as long as you get your wages.

They will just have to find a way to stop delaying it, and disappointing fans everywhere.
Well, they're not delaying anything, they just can't be bothered to show up. Agreed though. Despite their new policy, it surely can't hurt showing something to appease the long-time FF fanbase that is quickly growing disillusioned with the workings of the company. Especially TGS, which is probably the largest Japanese game convention.

They might put too much into this one game.
Cutting content and then announcing a sequel a year later sounds more profitable. :awesome:

Hasn't happened with FFXIII. :awesome:

That was back when SE focused on making one game at a time and actually worked on the games instead of milking the fuck out of teaser trailers and adds while making meaningless, mostly unnecessary side projects. Boy do I miss those days :hmmm:

If it does come out in JP I'm guessing mid 2012.

Yes both games did have development problems indeed. What I am saying here is that Versus has to be released sometime or it can get the worst out of itself. I can never see it being cancelled with so many people having high expectations. Yes, I have low expectations as well with these huge delays. I am pretty much not caring where Versus is going. It will certainly not "revive" the whole series like some people say it will. I will agree with you on that. Those people are way too optimistic. Versus can flunk pretty hard and probably half the FF fans will lose faith. The people who have really high expectations that is. Yes I agree that the announcement in 2006 was a really stupid idea. Well it was just simply giving fans a look into the future of FF. When people first saw the first trailer they were probably expecting this game to be incredible and really blow you away. Well now that It has been so long since the announcement, people think that is some kind of joke. It would be laughable if they mess up the game. Versus has too little information for it to be announced in 2006. It is almost 2012 and it has such little info over the years. It all depends whether people will care enough when the game is released. As I mentioned elsewhere, it will be up against big titles by then. Since Versus probably will not be shown at TGS, it is pretty disappointing. They need to at least step up and show something huge. A long trailer or a huge amount of info will suffice. The info is lacking quite a bit. With XIII you knew quite a bit even when it was suffering from development problems. SE have to make it news every three months or something. If it is just going to be for specific events.. then that is a total letdown. TGS needs something of Versus, but from what they said.. I don't think anything will be shown. So this is why I have moved on from Versus, and started not to care. Give me a huge amount of info that will blow me away, without revealing too much and Ill be happy. Oh and yes SE have the tendency to do such things as cutting content. That would be ridiculous if they decided it on Versus. For one, the game has way too many delays. They want to make it good right? Well they should not be cutting anything or even be thinking of a Versus XIII sequel while this is suffering. Just release the damn game sometime Square Enix. XIII certainly was not the "WOW" factor. XIII was just disappointing a lot of people. When people look at Versus's system they will arguably find it more enjoyable because of free roam. Yeah XIII certainly was not great.. but it is still out there. The FF series is grand, and people will not forget about it. What I do know about Versus, is that it will be released in a millennium :awesome:

Just how much do they want to do with this game? Whether they decide to release it or not is up to them. Can it at least come out.. like before Playstation IV comes out? Yeah 2013 is going to be a rough estimate now. End of 2012 or beginning of 2013. Now people like myself are just following Type-0. Just think how sad it is that XIII has a sequel, with Versus still not close to release. Square Enix announce Versus XIII For 2014! Oh dear.. certainly if that happened people will not care. What we know about versus is just a grain of salt. The free roam aspect interests me.. however I would love to see more of it. Stella Nox Fleuret, a character that was seen in 2006 when Versus debuted STILL does not have a voice. Noctis has one, and so does his gang.. kinda. I want to know if they even hired a voice actress for Stella yet. See? This is exactly info that is lacking. Need to know more about the world of Versus, the gameplay and certainly more about the characters. People will moan and moan about the delays, but you know what? I honestly do not give of fuck anymore. A Versus demo would be nice. Just to see what they have done so far. I mean, XIII had an hour long demo, why can't Versus at some point in time? Money makes the world go round. Versus is going to be SE's "masterpiece" that will never be released. Next time news comes it will be like "SE is planning DLC for Versus" Oh... oh dear... Now for a final thought on Versus. Masterpiece or not, it is just beyond a joke now. :olivia:

i cant wait it to release

I don't expect Versus until, at the very earliest, 2013. Hell, they haven't even put that baby into full production yet.

As Milla said, I've been following more on Type-0, since that one will be out a bit sooner, and looks to be fairly promising for even a PSP title.

I thought they was gonna stop with this, theirs an Agito and now 0,etc But anyway since FFXIII - 2 is what their trying to get done first which will be out early january in 2011. After this since their working on other titles who knows who they will choose to start making again I think it will be versus or 0. Versus I would say see's its due around 2013 - 2014 sounds reasonable enough to me. I just dont see them working on it this year or the better half of next year.

I thought Agito IS Type-0 ... Didn't they change Agito's name?

Anyway. I'm predicting July 2012 for Versus... That's pretty optimistic, but only because I want it so bad!

It is obvious versus is at the bottom of the SE's priorities list. We might actually see XIII-3 first.. ;)

Nah, Square Enix just said Final Fantasy Versus XIII entered full development already. Besides that, Tetsuya Nomura said in a recent Famitsu interview that he just checked through the game's world map and dungeons. That means that the game is about 60 to 80 percent completed already. So, I would guess that FFV13 will come out at the end of next year.
