A Welsh schoolboy has been found guilty of bashing his ex-girlfriend to death with a rock in exchange for a free breakfast from one of his friends.

Joshua Davies, 16, lured Rebecca Aylward, 15, to an isolated forest and killed her after openly plotting to murder her with his friends, the Daily Mail reported.

Swansea Crown Court heard Rebecca was still in love with Davies after their break-up, and agreed to meet with him under the impression that he wanted to get back together.

In a weekly breakfast gathering on Saturday mornings, Davies bragged to friends that he could poison, drown or push Rebecca off a cliff and "get away with it".

After one such meeting, Davies texted a friend asking "What would you do if I actually did kill her?"

"Oh, I would buy you breakfast," the friend replied.

Two days before the killing Davies texted the friend saying "Don't say anything but you may just owe me a breakfast."

"Best text I have ever had mate," the friend replied.

"Seriously, if it is true I am happy to pay for a breakfast.

"I want all the details, you sadistic bastard."

The court heard the other schoolboys genuinely believed Davies' murder plans were simply a macabre joke until he took them to see Rebecca's dead body.

Davies faces a life sentence after being found guilty yesterday.

What the fuck is this?! Has society really gotten so low that we now resort to this shit for the sake of free food etc? I find this article appauling and i'd PAY to see that asshole fry!

Woa woa woa woa, calm down there sonny boy. Asshole Fry? 8( He was hungry, was he not? I guess this was not much different than Casey Anthony, except Casey got away with it.. (oops)

Seriously though, sorry to be joking about death. Dude was probably some mental case, who thought killing was a means to a laugh. I've heard worse, so I guess for now.. It's sad, but just another meaningless death.

This kind of stuff happens all the time, and has happened for a long while. Society hasn't "come to this," it's always been like this. However, it is fairly disturbing that a person can be this sociopathic and no one noticed. Well-adjusted people don't just lure someone into the woods with the intent of killing them. There had to be something else going on. Other than the free breakfast, of course.

He didn't kill her for a free breakfast, that's fairly obvious if you read the article.
The guy was just some weirdo kid, he is Welsh, that means he is English and all English people are mental. Some guy kills his ex-girlfriend, something which is even older than CAssinoChips. But that doesn't sell newspapers or get people clicking on that particular link on a news website. Some sub-editor gave the article a headline that was deliberately misleading and controversial. No decline in moral standards here.

He was clearly mixed up in the head prior to this event, what I mean is that he had a sociopathic side and would have eventually killed. I do not believe, nor should anyone, that he was driven by the prospect of a free breakfast.

The whole breakfast thing itself was just part of a joke, no doubt he took some kind of perverse pleasure in that, but the breakfast is relatively blameless here.

Sad story, but not really indicative of society in any kind of way whatsoever

tl;dr, it's simple, we kill the batman

While I do find the story sad, it isn't as bad as the title seems. (Like said above) This dude had a motive to kill the girl. He confided with his friends to see the reaction, and it was a positive one. He wanted to do it (for some strange reason) and his friends supported him (supposedly), so he did it. While of course all murder is bad and wrong, he really didn't just kill her for a breakfast.

What gets me is that he killed her with a rock (which is brutal), then showed his friends her dead body, and one (or a couple) of them basically high-fived him for it.

I won't comment on the sentence seeing as some people here are sensitive about it, but I will say he doesn't look to have any hope of seeing the value of human life in the future. Killing someone with a rock is incredibly sadistic.

Did people read the article?

His friends genuinely thought he was joking, I have chatted about my pal's exs with them and said some pretty harsh things. I never said anything quite that macabre, but that kind of joke isn't very uncommon these days. It says nothing about them celebrating her death at all. They are presumably the ones who reported him

His friends thought he was joking and it seems like it was them who reported him to the police. They were joking about it before he did anything.
He's 16 so he would have had to battered her with something or strangled her. Guns aren't so common as they are in America. I don't think that makes him anymore sadistic. That was all he had to kill her with.

Errr it's kind of sad how the commenters in this thread are making this seem like it's not a big deal. Sure death and murder happens every day but it doesn't make this any less disturbing or sad specially because he was a kid and was still capable of this.

He bashed this poor girl with a rock after she met him in hopes of getting back together. His text messages to his friends were sickening and their reactions were even worse!
I'm really sad people like this exist in the world and I think he deserved the sentence he got. Sucked in!

Also I don't believe his friends are innocent and 'just thought he was joking' who would say otherwise when being questioned by police??

If anyone you know in the real world said 'I am going to kill that ____', would you automatically assume they were totally serious. No you would assume it was a joke, clearly he appeared to be a humane person as the girl was willing to meet him far away in a woods. She even went out with him in the first place and wanted to get back with him, implying he was for all intents and purposes a nice guy

What do you think is more likely, one homicidal fifteen year old psychopath? Or an entire group of them who all happen to hang out?

Ok, if someone sent that to me once, yeah I'd probably think they were joking but if my friend kept sending me messages like that, I would not reply the way his friends did, I'd probably start getting a little worried and weirded out. Perhaps because I am a girl I think differently to boys?

I guess it's to do with the nature of your joking a little bit, I would be weirded out too if the messages went to that extent. I probably would have replied the same as his friend did though. I would be a bit uncomfortable but I still wouldn't have thought that a murder had occurred.

It is a pretty horrifying story but not a very uncommon one, it mainly seems to have garnered attention due to a drudge report

I dont even like this thread to be honest. This guy killed this girl in efforts to get attention from others to show that he would do something. Now he is getting even more attention in here.

This kind of talk is one of the reasons serial killers are so popular, they love to be noticed.

This is more like news, I don't think anyone is going to debate in defense of this man.

i must point out that as a welsh person, most of us much prefer being called wlesh seeing as we arent english... we are british but not by choice. and id also like to say that this person is not like any welsh person i know. we arent that mental... well ok we are but not many of us are murderers

Many many times on talking about exes I/my friends have been like, Id love to rip his head off and let him die a slow painful death etc. This kind of thing is said in jest all the time. If I text my friend and said woop ive just -insert grizly death here- theres no way they would take that seriously and just be like woop well done

Then if it turned out to be real, they'd be outraged, and there's no way, in the cold light of day that would be condoned. Yes it might be a sick joke, but people do it all the time because no one believes someone would actually do that, so Im inclined to believe his friends had no part in it other than unwittingly egging him on

the boy is clearly unhinged and it's a shocking thing to do, it does happen all the time, and the papers have just glamorised it by making out it was all done for a free breakfast, when in reality its yet another sick weirdo bludgeoning someone to death for no apparent reason, which sadly seems to be quite a common occurence these days, and ofc, BOY KILLS EX GF FOR FREE BREAKFAST! is going to stir more interest

Tbf, you're not really welsh by choice either :wacky:

It's quite a sick joke the guys had right there, but it wasn't so much that he murdered her 'for a free breakfast'. That was another joke, I bet none of the lads thought he was actually going to do it. Many times I've said/heard people say 'I'm going to kill *insert name*' and nothing ever comes of it. I doubt his friends thought in a million years he'd ACTUALLY do it, and now I bet they all feel pretty bad.

This is ANOTHER news story I don't think we should know about. She died, yeah, it's sad, but as I said in the Casey Anthony thread, lots of people die, are murdered, etc. They're not ALL on the news, so I don't see why this one should be as well.

You're not Welsh by choice either, come on :wacky: accept that Wales is part of GB. And yeah, we know you're not English, most English people like to distiguish themselves from the Welsh too.

lol my sister has been on and off with this guy that's dumber than a box of rocks since highschool.

since theyve been together in the past 2 years he has

- been stabbed for attacking her because she said someone elses abs were more prominent
- crashed her car
- made her lose her apartment
- knocked her up

among other things.

lol

But some people are just deranged. It's difficult to understand them sometimes, and in the cases of most people is just a waste of time. There are people out there who just have nothing going for them and just don't give a shit.

It's hard to tell what happened.

We all have the capacity to do something like this. It's rather scary. A successful, loving, well-adjusted person could turn into a serial killer overnight, for no explicable reason.

That said, he's 16. I'm not excusing his actions at all, but I remember being 16, and it really is hard to see past Friday night. One day, he'll wake up in a jail cell and realize what a terrible mistake he's made. Hopefully he'll be able to make peace with the family, with himself, and with God, then eventually become a better person because of it.

He deserves to be punished, but I believe everyone deserves a chance at forgiveness as well, regardless of the crime. This is a terrible, terrible crime, but I sincerely hope he rehabilitates his life and never does anything like this again, assuming he gets out of prison in 65 years or so.

It must just be me then. I'd laugh if a friend sent me something like that once, but after a while I'd be like "err are you ok?" or "is something wrong?" Also I don't usually wish death upon people i was once close with (even jokingly, I only seem to do it with people I've always hated), so I probably don't understand.
