Hello! :D

I searched and couldn't find a thread on this, so sorry if there is already one similar or if I've put it in the wrong section, but here's the question:

If you could take one FF character from a game and transplant them into another FF game, who would you pick, where would you put them, and why?

For example, I've always thought it'd be interesting if Auron were in XII--I think in terms of personality he would mesh really well with the rest of the party members and his swordsmanship skills would be really useful.

Anyway, this is my first thread so I hope it's a good one ^_^

This is a good thread.

I think most characters fitted into their respective games very well and I'm happy with them being in their own games. However some characters that it would have been interesting to see adapted (even though I wouldn't necessarily have liked to have seen it) would be:

Ultros in FFX. Since Spira is predominantly a water themed environment it would have been interesting to meet Ultros of some sorts in this world... Perhaps an underwater battle with Rikku, Wakka and Tidus.. Taking the battle down to where he has the advantage. It would have been interesting to fight off his tentacles, and also to hear a voice over for him. He would have brought a lot of humour into it too.

I was going to list more, and I was thinking really hard for a long amount of time, but I honestly can't think of any characters that could easily be moved from one game to another. I guess if they were put into these games merely as references or perhaps as alternate versions, or dimension travelling variants like Gilgamesh then it could have worked.

I'd like to put Kefka in Final Fantasy XII. Just to see what the effect would be. It makes me cackle with delight just thinking about it! XD

I think putting Sephiroth in Final Fantasy XIII would invite all sorts of weird misunderstandings, as well. I can just see him calling
Orphan
"father" and, I pray, stabbing Hope through his stomach whilst he stands there, doing absolutely sod all...

I'd put Zidane in FF4, so him and Edge would fight over Rydia. :P
I would also put Kefka in FF7 or Sephiroth in FF6 just to see how the party would act towards two completely opposite villains.

I'd put any character in FF1 just to have some named characters/character development. XD (Not that it wasn't a good game already.)

Ooh fun topic, I've actually thought about this before.

Cloud in FFX. I'd love to see his and Yuna's interaction because I could see them getting along very well. And his interaction with the rest of the party.

Yuffie in FFXIII. For some reason, I could see her fitting in very well.

Kefka in XII would be total win.

Gau in FFIX. Again, I could see him fitting in with all the characters. And I'd love to see him and Eiko interact or him and Vivi interact.

I'd like to see Terra as a summon in future games. It would be fun to see her again. It also would have been very interesting to see her in FFX. As a half Aeon. And the end could be potentially very sad for her :(

Irvine in FFXIII. Like Yuffie, I could see him getting along well with everyone.

Barrett in FFX. Because it could be very hilarious. I'd imagine it
Barrett: $#%@
Wakka: Don't talk that way in the temple!

Zidane in FFVII. Because he would have three women to hit on XD. And it would have been nice if the game had a character like him.

Edgar and Sabin in IX. To give IX more royality.

Rydia or Yuna in VII. In VII, the summons did not play as big as a part as they did in other games. It would have been cool to have somone that specialized in summoning in that game.

I'd have liked to have seen either Auron in FFVIII or Squall in FFX, the point being I want to see Squall and Auron together. I think Auron would be one hell of a mentor for Squall, given how inwardly whiny he was. Tidus didn't really listen to Auron that much, and Squall would surely listen. Furthermore, Squall reminds me of young Auron from the flashback sequences.

I also think Cecil and Cloud would be great together. Those two don't need a big party, I think together they could have beaten anyone. I felt they were the best "leaders" out of all the Final Fantasy protagonists.

:D I agree with those two. That would've been funny as hell.

I almost couldn't picture someone like Zidane in VII, but come to think of it, it would add such hilarity along with Yuffie's dialog.

I can totally see Barret pulling something like that.

Barret in XII would be great too though. :wacky: I think he'd totally scold Vaan's ass. xD

Lol it would be even funnier to see Barret in X because he has a huge gun for an arm, and we know how Spira feels about those... would they consider that an Al Bhed weapon?

Cid from VII would also be funny to see in FFX for the same reasons above... but then we'd have two Cid characters in one game.

I think it could also be interesting to see Sephiroth in VI. Shinra does not exist in that game so he wouldn't have had any experiments done to him and he wouldn't have been controlled by Jenova. So he wouldn't have gone crazy XD. He could have either been an antagonist if he were a soldier for the Empire, one that you fight several times during the game. (Though I couldn't see him being alive in the WOR because there would have been no need for him, or if he were, he would have been a neutral NPC). Or if he was a soldier for another kingdom, he could have been a "good guy" and maybe even join your party. And I only said VI because I can't see him fitting in in the other games. (Not VIII, maybe IX but he'd look too much like Kuja, not X, or XII)

Or Kuja in VI. It's be interesting to see his and Kefka's stories clash... which could be quite devastating.

Cid from VII would also be funny to see in FFX for the same reasons above... but then we'd have two Cid characters in one game.

Now that would be hilarious :D Seeing two Cids together in the same game--they'd probably be all confused, going "You're Cid the engineer? Me too..." Except that they might squabble over technical issues and end up breaking the airships or whatever they happened to be working on :hmmm:

I've only completed the first disc of VIII, but from what I've seen so far of Irvine, he'd probably fit in well with the cast of VI too. He's got a unique profession and he reminds me somewhat of Shadow, Locke, or Setzer--independent yet kind-hearted ^_^ Plus he'd add a new weapon to the roster.

Kimahri in IX probably would have worked well too, since he seemed a little slighted in his original game. IX had really good character development and his backstory probably would've been portrayed in a much more emotionally evocative way if he were in there somewhere.

Awesome topic!

I'd say Ashe would probably fit in FFIX. She has that certain look in her that says she belongs where there's castles, dragons, and flying airships involved. Very serious person too - she can hang out with Freya and Amarant.

Tifa in FFXIII. Now that I would love to see. Rival for Lightning, yes? Though I have a feeling Lightning might kick her ass, but I don't know, it's hard to tell. :hmmm:

Zell in FFX. His upbeat personality matches that of Tidus, sorta. They'd make good sparring buddies.

great idea

I've thought about that a lot, actually!

I think Red XIII from FF7 would go great with the crazy cast of Zidane and Co. in FF9.

FF12 needed a character not just Hume, and they only put one Viera, which is close enough to Hume. Wouldn't Montblanc have been perfect in that group? You could make him a Black Mage, sure. But how about a Fusilier, or a Moogle Knight? Seeing a Moogle on full-screen, nut just NPC but as a playable character, would've been awesome! They could've taken out one of the Hume boys and put in Montblanc. He really would've added comic relief none of the other characters had. The story was pretty grim, after all. And the only real humor was Balthier's dry sarcasm. Montblanc's character in FF12 was pretty weak. He had the same perky, never-give-up personality like in FFTacticsAdvance, but his role was too minor. It would've been cool to use him as your main character, running around in battle. They could've made him fly, like Gurdy the Chocobo Moogle. It was totally do-able.

Red XIII's character would have fit in well with FFXII. And they could have had a "last of your race!" in that game. Freya would have also fit well into the game. Both characters were for the most part serious like the rest in XII.

And on a random note. It would have been very funny to see Gau in either X or XII considering the other characters. XD

Gau: Mr. Thou...
Balthier: I'm not Mr. Thou, he is! (points at Basch)
Basch: :ffs:

:wacky:

I also think Seymour would fit well into XII, he reminds me somewhat of Vayne anyway and he seems very politically-minded like many of the NPCs.

I remember thinking about this a while ago.
I'd like to see Kuja in VII or Sephi in IX. I think those two together would be funny :)

I also thought there should have been more none-humes in XII, so maybe Vivi or someone would do well there. I wouldn't put Freya in there but Vivi or Red XIII would be fun to see.

While not really a replacement, I always thought it would be cool to have a crossover between the VI and VII universes. Everyone's always fighting over which is better, but what if Kefka and Sephiroth set madness aside (just roll with me on this one lol) and joined forces. One has mastery over magic and the other has mastery over physical prowess: the angels of chaos.

lol silliness aside, I think Yuna would've been a great replacement for Vanille. Both are spellcasters but I like Yuna's down-to-earth personality more.

i would like to see some of the main characters from each game placed into a tactics game like Final Fantasy Tactics advance...that would be very interesting.

Red XIII -> FFXIII?

So if you haven't figured out by the Thread's Title.

The main Idea of this thread is:

WHAT IF Red XIII [FFVII Character] was switched out for someone else and added to FFXIII as a playable character and rideable companion?

What I mean is, other than Chocobos, what if RED XIII was a character on FFXIII, and at the same time, you can choose to ride him. So rather than looking for chocobos on the map, you could just access the main menu and choose Red XIII and choose "Ride". No sexual puns intended. He'd go a lot faster than normal Chocobos.

He does after all have XIII in his name.

Discuss?

Lol, forgot his name had XIII in the title. I would like him as a playable character instead of a form of transport. Dont think he would like to be rode like a chocobo, think he'd have a few words for anyone attempting that.
