By claiming that the Wii isn't a console, you're practically saying that Mario and Zelda aren't games. Just because it's labeled differently, doesn't mean that it isn't a gaming system. Also, there are plenty of fun single player games for it. It isn't the systems fault that you can't have a fun time playing single player games.
The new mario games aren't games as they used to be, and the Wii is often marketted at family audiences for its party aspect rather than its Serious "Gamer" aspect that the super nintendo, n64 or the game cube were once aimed.
As an old skool Gamer, I will never view the Wii as a serious "gaming" system because its not targetted at Gamers as such, It's more a victim of its own marketting scheme when it comes to how people view it, and any Gamer that has been gaming since the 80's/90's will never view the Wii as a serious Gaming console contender anyway.
Afterall, you dont see sony or microsoft marketting all the silly little toys such as the wii fit board on every advert now do you?
