Okay, I'm not sure which to get. The Limited Edition and Crystal Version both look fantastic! Having the entire OST is certainly a very attractive idea. My only qualm is the price... The Crystal Edition is twice as much as the standard, and I feel bad spending that much money on myself. :(

I might ask for the Crystal Edition for Christmas. I can wait two extra months for my present. :wacky:

I'm most likely getting the regular version. I play on xbox and as we know, it's region locked. So there's really no point in buying those online because I won't be able to play the game.

That's just too bad, because I really want those awesome extras and soundtrack :( I wish they have special editions for other regions too.

Well at least I can play the game itself when it comes out in January.

D'oh, which country/region are you from? They'll no doubt bring one out in America. :S

I live in Asia.

Well I should actually be grateful because the last time, I had to wait 1 year to play XIII. It used to be a ps3 exclusive in Asia before the international version was released. But now, I'm glad that there's simultaneous release of the game for both consoles in Asia and NA.

£80 for the Crystal edition? :srsly:

Needless to say, I won't be wasting my money on this spectacular piece of crap...I just wanted to register my mild shock/disgust at the price of the Crystal Edition. xD

Considering the DLC will likely be available on the PSN separately, and what counts for the soundtrack will be all over the internet, really these special editions are a waste of money, and you'd be better off waiting for it to drop in price...but eh, whatever works for you, I guess~

...what counts for the soundtrack will be all over the internet...
You raise a very good point, which is why I haven't quite decided yet... A part of me likes the idea of having at least one Final Fantasy OST in the flesh, but then the best music, for me, is in Final Fantasy X, so it might make sense to just buy that OST instead of spending the extra £20 getting the Crystal Edition. I'll certainly get the Limited Edition though. I would quite like the art book and some of the music on CD. :)

I'm getting the regular version if it comes out. Hopefully, if I'm lucky, a special edition of sorts will be out so I can claim it instead. They tend to send left overs of special editions here once the hype dies down or if no one really cares for FF. Fortunately, alot of people here doesn't give a damn about final fantasy. Easy pickings!

I will not be wasting my money on any fancy version of this game. The fact that I am even considering buying the ordinary edition is shameful because of how shite the first game was.

So yes, just the normal version for me, on PS3 only because FF games should not be on any other console than a Sony. :mokken:

Gotta agree with Martel, here :hmmm: I still haven't finished the original, so I won't be getting this any time soon :monster: But most of that stuff you can get on the internet for cheap or for free. I'd just get the regular version and wait till that episode i thing pops up somewhere else :hmmm:

I agree with this, but only for VII and on. Xbox sucks :mokken:

The only thing that would persuade me to by any of these packs is the shirt in the Crystal edition. XD

Not that I can see myself wearing it but when they said, "Never to be available elsewhere!" I wanted it for some strange reason. XD I always want what I can't have. >.<

But in all honesty I will more than likely just get the regular version. Just the game and that is all. I don't do pre-orders or anything like that ever. I'm not really a big Final Fantasy Collector thankfully. >.< I'd be broke otherwise!

If somehow I do have this curious urge to snap up a copy of the game just to see if it's worth playing, I would probably wait until a year later to get it for cheap, or find a preowned copy of the game that's as cheap as possible. I'm not as willing to hand my money to Square Enix nowadays as FFXIII shortchanged me and there are more deserving developers and publishers out there who do, but I digress. The worst that can happen is that I end up somehow loving the game. :sad3:

Until such time comes though, I've no plans to buy the game, let alone go anywhere near those expensive special editions. For £80, I would expect a hologram of Yoichi Wada to appear and sweep up my floor. I wouldn't pay that much money for any special edition, even if a certain game is my most anticipated of the year, let alone this game. :damon:

normal edition of the game for me.... only thing i would want the other editions for is the soundtrack (but i know the internet ) and the t-shirt (which won't fit me... :P) sooo yh normal edition, and on the xbox 360 cuz that what i own.... i'm soo glad their managed to reduce it to one disc :wacky: that was needed

I don't mind spending £40 on the game... but then, all of my FFs, bar XII and XIII, were pretty cheap, so I don't feel I've invested too much in Square Enix yet. I didn't get into the series until X and X-2 were going for £10 each, their RRP having been £30 or £40 (what WAS the price of PS2 games originally?) VIII was £10, VII and IX were both about £16. I spent £2 on XII after trading in two unwanted games...

I really really would like the OST in its complete form... I don't mind spending £20 on it either. The only issue is spending ANOTHER £20 and stretching to £80 to get it, instead of being able to spend £60 on the game and OST alone. :(

I am really surprised actually. The more I think about it, you want the game. What would be so bad about loving it? Just because you thought XIII was atrocious, does not mean you have to think XIII-2 is complete shite :mokken: You make it seem like loving it would be the end of you :wacky: It is occurring to me that you do want the game now, since you posted. No matter when it will be, you seem to think you will pick it up one day xD You are not quite living up to Martel's style now are you?

As for me, I would get a special edition if one does come for NA. Nothing very appealing in these limited editions though. I do like the Crystal edition, and I would probably get it if it were to come out here. Normally, Europe got the special editions for the original game as well. Whether or not a special edition comes here or not, I will still be buying the game. I will get the game once it comes out, so I do hope they release a limited edition here. So I can pre order it or something like that. :hmmm: Oh, but I am not one to spend more money on something I deem useless. It would all depend what the limited edition is offering that the normal edition would not.

That's a little confusing... :gasp:

Do you mean there's nothing appealing in the limited editions in your country, or nothing appealing in the limited editions that have been announced for the UK? Why would you get the Crystal Edition if it doesn't appeal to you?

I would hope if NA does get a limited edition, it would be different from Europe's. I would not want the same thing after all. Nah, what I mean is that it could be better. Sure, the crystal edition looks pretty nice, but they could think of something better. :lew: Oh sorry, what I mean is I prefer the crystal edition over the other one. If it were to come here, I would choose the Crystal one. I do not suspect NA will get a special edition though. It would be cool, but in the end I will be alright with just the game.

Ah, that's fair. :)

I'd be quite happy with the game too. I don't NEED the OST, but Final Fantasy has become quite important to me. It sounds silly, but the stories (bar the one in XII), the characters and the music have all affected me. They've inspired me. I feel I'd like to treat myself just once to the full monty, and also give my full support to the producers.

I know that the internet provides the music... but I admire the composers and would like a copy of the OST I can cherish! I'd buy the music for X, but they don't even sell a EU version! :(

(Oh dear, I'm trying to justify getting the full lot as my (late) Christmas present... :wacky: It would mean a lot to me though.)

A further question: what would you like to see in a special edition?

1) Overlooking the fact that I don't at all expect to love it anyway, as what I've seen of the game so far only looks marginally better than the first game. If through some miraculous divine intervention I do end up loving it somehow, then I would be willing to retract everything I have said, yes. But it's unlikely. If I'm wrong, then awesome.

2) I do have the right to think that the game to me will likely be another sub-par addition to the Final Fantasy franchise though. Actually, have I ever said that it will be "complete shite"? How would I actually know that unless I have powers of clairvoyance? I think all I've said was that I've little to no enthusiasm for it and that we really don't need a sequel at all.

3) Just because I've posted in here doesn't mean anything is being set in stone. Nothing's really stopping me from just quelling completely my small sense of curiosity and just ignoring the game entirely, though yes, if there is something in the game that I feel makes it worth a (cheap) purchase, I won't deny that.

4) "Living up to Martel's style"? ......kay. Oh, you mean I'm going soft? Well, there's only so much abuse I can give to an unreleased game before I realise that I'm purely letting the stigma carried over from the first game myopically speak for me. I can fix that though if I sound too out-of-character. :ahmed:

Anyway, I don't really get this fascination with special editions anyway. There's never usually anything appealing to go with the game anyway unless its a special edition console that actually looks appetising, and I can't really think of anything to come with a special edition that would ever make me consider spending £80 for. I guess if you don't mind paying the extra money for an aesthetically pleasing collection, then all power to you I guess. =/

Well, chances are you will have to wait awhile till the game becomes cheap. Caius is probably the only part that makes this game better than the original for you. Obviously you have to admit you loved seeing Noel get stabbed. :mokken: Maybe it is not as bad as you think it is.. with the dark theme and all. The thing is, you said you will not buy it right away. I suggest you do not ruin the game by youtube if you are going to get it cheap sometime.

You are not out of character. You are the same as ever :mokken: Oh fine, I will not name all the times you said it was shite then :jtc:

Special editions are nice if they actually have something worth getting. Usually, I love high quality art books, extra content that is not available anywhere else, perhaps even a statue of some of the characters in the game to put on display. :hmmm: Something that is not a t shirt would be nice. Soundtrack is nice, if you are absolutely confident you like it.

I will probably just get the Standard Edition, my fiance got the better edition (forgot what it was called) of FFXIII, and I wasn't too impressed.
