I was thinking back on the many FF games I've played in the past and I noticed that they all started with a great opening 20 or so minutes that just seamed to get you sucked in and engrossed in the story line. I can't however, decide which one is the best so let me know what you think and what that opening meant to you, thanks.

Sorry if there already is a post like this I looked and couldn't find one.

why do you think final fantasty bad which one do you not like??????????
and which one old ones have you played?????

I've played 1,2,5,7,8,9,10,10-2,12,13 (Probably only class 1,2,5,7,8 and 9 as old though)

I think that it has gone hill in the recent instalments. and one of those main things being the opening scenes where you get sucked in the last two (12 and 13) seamed to lack that for me.

But what I was asking is out of the ones you yourself have played which one for you had the best opening?

For me it'd be between FF7 and FF8. The older ones kind of got you hooked after a while of playing with their routine, it wasn't until later in the franchise that they started using more cinematic ways to entice you..

But while 8 had a much more intense opening, the actual beginning of the game was slowly paced, and with 7 you were thrown right into the fire, and it felt like a movie at the same time. I vote FF7..

I do agree with you on that, but in 8 I enjoyed running round the open area of the garden and exploring all the differant areas in it, 7 was just a relaxed opening movie than, bang, straight head first into a mission. Two differant styles but loved both of them. Currently though I can't decide between 7, 8, 9, and 10 they were the best openings to me... but to choose the 'best' for me personally is really hard.

Man, after thinking about it, this was actually a really tough question :lew: But after narrowing it down, I think it'd have to be a tie between IV, VI, VII, and X :hmmm: X's was very flashy and set an immediate precedent for the story taking place in a much different world than most of the other FFs. IV opened up with an immediate introduction to the heavy, thought-provoking themes of the story, letting you know first off that there were going to be interesting moral questions throughout. VI had a brilliant opening narrative to give you the backstory on the world, while panning across a handful of interesting and quite beautifully rendered locales that were appropriate to what was being said (and, seeing...everyone...at the rally in Vector was quite powerful on the second playthrough). And finally, VII opened up by throwing you directly into an exciting mission, and started off in a prime location for dropping you right into the emotional heart of the story. So really, a lot of the FFs have had good openings ^^ Honestly I can't actually think of one I don't like, though I will agree that XII was probably one of the less engaging ones I've seen so far :hmmm:

Final Fantasy VII for me. Like I already said in another thread I could play through the opening of Final Fantasy VII over and over again today and never get tired of it. Being thrown right into the action and that whole opening mission was just very entertaining and for me the other games I've played didn't have that.

FFVIII's intro FMV was fantastic back in the day. Really exciting. The intro mission wasn't all that exciting, but the first real mission - the assault on Galbadia - was absolutely fantastic. I loved that taste of military style story. It was super cool.

Now that it's mentioned, I'd probably say X, which also happens to be one of my favorite Final Fantasy's.

To me, X's opening was one of the finer points of the game. It was nice to see some action going on instead of a bunch of rambling. I did find it a bit corny, but this was counteracted by the introduction of Auron.

XII had a very good opening, because it set the scene very nicely. It immediately threw you into the world and provided a reasonably thorough explanation of what was going on in it, and since XII's storyline went beyond the individual characters a lot of the time, I think it was a good way to start it off.

That said, I am very fond of FFVIII's, which is the one I voted for. Liberi Fatali is one of my favourite FF tracks, for its time it looks absolutely incredible, and it was all very dramatic and exciting.

If we're going on opening FMV, FFXII would win for me. It has an absolutely epic opening, very fast paced and quite violent - it interested me immediately.

If we're going on the first few hours of gameplay, then FFVII and FFXIII win out for me. With FFIX a close second. What I love about FFVII and FFXIII is that the games just throw you straight in there, with the bombing mission and the purge to Pulse. I could play from the opening of FFVII through to leaving Midgar for ever. I also adore the first three chapters of FFXIII, I love how story driven it is and how we're introduced to all the different characters - I also find it very fun to play too.

FFIX is fun, I like how each of the characters have a different motive, but they all end up clumped together anyway. And, there's loads of fun minigames to keep you interested too. The beginning of FFIX to fighting Black Waltz #3 is very engaging, and great fun to play.

It's FFVIII - my jaw pretty much hit the floor after seeing it for the first time. Stunning FMVs and Liberi Fatali, and stops at just the right moment. Fantastic on every level, I still like to watch it.

Final Fantasy X's blitzball opening is my favourite especially with that song. It's not one of my favourite FF's but it knows how to kick start the action unlike the other opening where they're more mellowed and they build up

I would have to say Final Fantasy X. The opening included mixed feelings, high rise of emotions, big competition, epic music, and a climax all to make one awesome movie-like beginning. I'd have to vote the second best being the opening in Dissidia Final Fantasy though.

I was thinkng about this last night and I narrowed it down to 2 final fantasy games being 7 and 9. This is because in 8 the task of getting Ifrit at the start was tedious and the fact they asked you how much time you wanted was bit strange to me. In X I felt that that maybe you were being thrown around too much and lacked a sence of direction. However, 7 gave a brilliant first mission and then traveling to the secret hideout was really fun and made you feel involved. In 9 you had the play going off as a ploy to distract the queen from stealing the princess it was really sweet and done I think really well not too much time spent individually with each character but just enought to give there feelings and make them human. In the course of writing this I have decided that for me personally I would have to with FF9 it meant soo much to me and engrossed me right into the story, Brilliant.

Ok everyone. I would like to state that I screwed up my vote. =(

I voted for 7 when I meant to vote for 12. So if it still says 0 votes for 12 than consider it 1 vote. It is not my favorite game in the seris but I thought it had a beautiful opening and it really unfolded the story well and explained what was going on. It showed a lot of emotion and the clash of empires. My favorite part was when basch was riding with the Prince/king (forgot) on the chocobo and you could see the anger and heat in his eyes as it changed to slow motion.

I voted for 8 mostly because of the opening movie alone. Close behind is 13.

Openings were fairly bland up to 4. 4 wasn't bad though, and while being my favorite game, definitely was not one of my favorite openings. 5 is on the same level as 4, IMO. 6 was ok. 7 started off lame (what was the point of showing Aerith?) until Cloud and co jumped off the train, then it got better. I don't even remember 9. 10 is probably #3 for me. 12 was decent.

The part about the opening of 8 that really sticks out in my mind is Squall and Seifer giving each other their scars.

And 13 starts out all "Surprise! I'm here to kick your ass, now take it like a man.". And after that, I enjoy the entire beginning section before they become L'cie.

FFX
Loved the FMV...and then sin attacked we got to use the weapon Auron gave to Tidus AND play with Auron himself...I loved his huge cleaver-sword...I love that rugged edge..
The pods were really nice and when they opened up even nicer! kill kill kill and make the way through the mass..

You could make the whole bridge collapse,,,

And the best part was when you first walked on that extended bridge..you hear Jecht talking,.,I like his VA and i would listen to every word he said before I went to the next section of the bridge.

OMG! I can't believe nobody thought of DISSIDIA! It's constant fast paced action. Making good use of the PSP CG graphics is shows a little taste of the battle between the Cosmos warriors and the Chaos warriors. The range of different FF characters just screams to me THIS IS FINAL FANTASY! and it's interesting how they mix and match different heroes with different villains to fight each other. There's not a dull moment when the characters are always fight or running, I just watch the opening on my PSP just to pep myself up for track and field races.

im goin to say 10, the graphics wer so good and the action jus wanted u to play right away!
