Which Final Fantasy Game had the Best opening?

FF8 for sure! Best opening ever for FF titles! And then 10. Because when I first played 10, I was amazed! But 8's beats it out simply because it told a story, both romantic and adventurous and looked beautiful, still does.

I made a oopies though, in the poll. I thought we could vote for more than 1 xD

For me it'd be between FF7 and FF8. The older ones kind of got you hooked after a while of playing with their routine, it wasn't until later in the franchise that they started using more cinematic ways to entice you..

But while 8 had a much more intense opening, the actual beginning of the game was slowly paced, and with 7 you were thrown right into the fire, and it felt like a movie at the same time. I vote FF7..

I agree. FFX's was solid but too reliant on the razzle dazzle of the cinematic opening. FFVIII's garden crawl felt like a chore to me and IX's character hopping was farcical.

What I felt was really effective about VII's opening was that it worked so well in conjunction with Cloud's personality. The player doesn't know enough about the situation to care a great deal, so instead of being given the impassioned, driving force behind the movement (Barret) which is too often the case in gaming, the player is given the mercenary outsider - the blank canvas.

Not only does that method appeal to a larger audience, but it's the most obvious and effective way of immersing a player in an interactive universe.

I liked VII's the most. It was just the best one out of all of them. I loved the gentle opening of the soft music and Aerith's face being seen, then the intense train scene--it was short and sweet.

But then it'd be VIII's that'd be the best.

There is no better opening than Liberi Fatali, it makes all other openings look uninspired. Second best is X's but I don't know if that cinematic with the "Otherworld" theme is THE opening.

if it were on there id vote for Kingdom Hearts

but otherwise VIII was my favorite. I liked all the symbolic stuff and the imagery,
its the one ive seen the most because my first disc was screwed up and I maybe watched it 30 times once to see if the game would pass the glitches. lol I got to go eventually, but then it froze during the beginning Quistis scene xD

The very first intro that I saw that got me hooked on the franchise overall was FFIX's with Garnet floating in the boat at sea with the storm going all crazy.

However, FFX I believe had the BEST intro with Blitzball, the Otherworld song, and the suspense of the threat/tragedy of the game introduced right away with Sin. The graphics, story, and drama right at the beginning made for the best intro to a game in the series in my opinion.
