In this thread you say what puts you off games.
You will probably use an example, you don't have to, but I think you will.
One of things that will puts me off is very boring sections.
For Example, Kingdom Hearts 2. It is a game that I like a lot, however I was often put off replaying it because the very first part of the game is so boring.
Eventually I did it and created an additional saved game so that I would not have to replay all that boring stuff at the beginning.

I guess currently Resistance 3 is going that way for me, first it was about monsters and killing them, now you got to kill people too... it makes no sense and is kind of off putting.
And shooters that throw lots of tough enemies at you at once in a small space are an absolute PAIN! 
Grandia II is an example of this. I hear that the story is excellent, but I really can't be bothered to play through it because the movement in battle and pace of each battle is SO SLOW! It's a snail pace. Final Fantasy VII and IX were about as slow as I could handle. 


It has a tendency to be boring as soap operas are similar to movies and series where producers use a formulaic approach -- which can become repetitive and boring.
