Traffic jam on the way back from work yesterday meant that I could finish Are You Dave Gorman?. Started reading Death du Jour by Kathy Reichs this morning. The tv show Bones is based on her life, with the main character from the show taking the name of the heroine in her books.

The Tales of Redwall Series.
It a rather large series and I love stories told from an animal's point of view. The cahracters are enthralling and the story is just so exciting! Though you need to read all the books to get full enjoyment out of them but, Brian Jacques is a fantastic writer. <3

Foundation by Isaac Asimov.
I started reading this back in January, but abandoned it for reasons I have since forgotten. A great book by a sci-fi writer who was truly ahead of his time.

Survival in Auschwitz by Primo Levi. Another book which I have to read for History. Basically it is the recount of Levi's experience in Auschwitz (the largest Nazi concentration camp in WWII). The book is pretty well written and very interesting. Levi's view of Auschwitz is not exactly what I expected, he speaks fairly rationally about the whole experience in a calm manner. I'm just over half way through so I've got about 60-70 pages left, I'm enjoying it though.

Right now I'm reading The Sword of the Lady, by S.M. Stirling, it's the last in a pretty cool series in which electricity and combustion stop working. It's about how people survived and the societies that formed after "The Change."
currently reading the last harry potter book, altho i am bored of it and have figured i will either wait for the movie to come out or until i get so bored i actually pick the book back up and finish it off
I have just started on the second volume of Michael Palin's diaries, covering 1980-1988. I really liked the first volume so looking forward to reading this one.
I just finished reading I Love You, Beth Cooper after I heard it was meant to be a lot better than the crappy film adaptation. It was OK, but the main character was largely a geek with no redeeming defensive qualities like a healthy streak of sarcasm. As such, he just came across as annoyingly supine at times. But it goes at a fair old pace and never gets dull anyway.

I am currently reading Stephen Kings "The Stand". For those who haven't read I really suggest it. It is about the end of human life, basically a plague gets unleashed and kills off 99% of the population and the people who survive are separated into two groups, Good and Evil.
The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie
I'm halfway through it, and it's decent enough so far. Abercrombie is not the greatest writer in the world, and unfortunately he's more George Lucas than J.R.R Tolkien when it comes to naming characters, but he can tell one hell of a story. It's not as good as all the reviews I've read had lead me to believe it would be, but it's still a good read.

I thought I'd try to at least attempt to read them so I can get a better idea of the story and compare it to the movie etc.

I'm on a Stephen King kick at the moment. I just finished The Shining and now I'm reading Pet Sematary.
It's funny.. I'm a big reader and I read a wide range, but I'm rarely as aware of the craft of the author I'm reading as I am with King. I often stop and think, "oh, that was a really interesting simile" or admire the juxtaposition of his words. I'm not sure why I'm more aware of it with him than others, but I do enjoy his books while I think quite a lot of people have this idea of his novels as trashy. Not quite sure why that is, perhaps it's simply the content.

I'm covering NETBA this year, already read the 'Life, Interupted'. It was a set in the real life, I rly like this book cos it's got the names 'Luke' and 'Jesse' 
I'm now reading Carbon Diaries 2015. It's set in the real life as well but this time it's in the future, with a family and the start of something called 'Carbon Rations'. The UK is the 1st to go ahead.

Finished Vals Plat in de Oeral from Marc Hanneman only yesterday. It's a very interesting travelstory about 3 guys trying to find the most Eastern boarder of Europe. They do so by visiting a lot of countries and cities, for example Turkey, Russia and all kinds of Former Soviet Republics. They even go all the way To Vladivostok and Sachalin to interact with the locals and their feelings about Europe. Some surprising results I must say, and definitely worth reading if you have an interest for Eastern Europe and Russia.

The Queen and I by Sue Townsend.
I think it's quite a funny little book so far, it's set in 1992, and a republican party has gained power, and they strip the Royal Family of their titles and privileges and make them live on a council estate. I love Sue Townsend's writing style, and her characterizations of the Royal Family are hilarious. I like how short the chapters are too, so it doesn't drag on.

yes, I know that this is a poem, but I had to read it for a British Lit class in College, and I have yet to make sense of it.
It's so damned confusing. Basically, it's all stream-of-consciousness style, flowing from the mind of one person to the next. And he throws in different languages and everything. It's about to make my head explode. Has anyone else read this before? And just so you know what I'm talking about, here's a link to The Waste Land online. Have fun. XD
