Playstation Was it worth it?

Alot of my friends say the price you pay PS3 isn't worth it. However I feel they are wrong because I get so much use out of it I enjoy the games and I feel that I shouldn't have to pay to use it online.

(I know they are thinking about changing it from free to people paying but thats a differant discussion)

So my quesion is does anyone else feel that the PS3 is not worth buying?
 
As long as you use it and enjoy it then its definately a good thing. Its something you can turn on whenever your bored and kill some time on. I dont think its a waste of money, infact when my first one broke i went out and bought another :lew:
 
well thats sorta how I feel about it but alot of my friends bought em and actually took em back to the shop sayig huh your kidding me why did I pay that much for it blah blah blah when I can do exactly the same thing on my xbox.
 
Provided there is a good number of games you want for it, or just exclusives if you have a Xbox 360 already, I would say at least 5, then a PS3 is definitely worth it. You don't have to buy anything else if you plan to play online and, besides the games of course, and it is the same price as a Xbox 360 Elite at the cheapest.

Need Wifi? PS3 comes with that.
Rechargable controllers? PS3 comes with that.
Free online? PS3 comes with that.
 
I don't get people who buy a console and then take it back as if they didn't know what the console was going to do. :ffs:

Of course you can do the same thing on your xbox. They're both consoles that play games. There are some exclusive games for each console but they both have the same games for the most part. What, did they think it was going to dance a jig and prepare a meal for them?

I have both a PS3 and a 360 and while I don't play the PS3 as much as the 360 (due to lack of games for PS3) I still think it was well worth the price. I like collecting consoles and there are some PS3 exclusive games that I'll be getting soon. Plus it's fun to play online with friends that only have PS3.
 
Well for me I prefer the PS3 im not a fan of the Xbox so for me its just a console preferance.
I think befor anyone buys anything you should look in to the pro's and cons and what would appeal to one more .I dont buy anything,mechanical wise, without knowing what im getting for my money and most times if you buy your consoles at a game shop of some form I know they are for the most part very informed about the plus and minus's of what one wish's to purchase.
 
Omigosh yes the PS3 was totally worth my money! I love the console :3


There's so many games and it's really enjoyable. I also like how PS3 online is free while the xbox 360 isn't :hmmm:

Its a great console and it has really great games too :hmmm: I do like playing online as well.


I've had it a few years now and it has yet to have any damages or anything of that sort so, it's been good to me there as well :ryan:
 
The money I spent on my PS3 was well spent!

I even got a blu ray DVD player out of it, so that was a bonus!

I'm on my PS3 every night just about and so of course I think it was definitely worth it.

However, it's up the individual. If it's not something that they use a lot then no, it isn't worth it.
 
Yeah I agree with all of you to be honest if I'm not on the ps3 then james (the other half) is on it so its bairly ever switched off anymore. I must admit when I first got it I didn't play much because I couldn't afford any games at the time.

It made me a bit mad when they did that because its a waste of people's time and energy what the point if your just gonna send it back????

I struggle to play with the xbox because the controller is too big and my hands are small but some exclusives e.g. fable I do try and enjoy just as much as my ps3
 
I was wondering if it was worth getting myself. I love my XBox, but want, no NEED a PS3 for Persona 5 as its been rumoured to be released on there. Also LittleBigPlanet and Heavy Rain look amazing. But Im not bothered about the blu-ray as Im not going to re-buy my DVDs lol.
 
Well like I said before it all depends on what games you want for it. Since you both have a Xbox 360 you should be looking at the exclusives. If you have at least 5 games then it's worth it.

Also how could I forget about Blu-ray? Blu-ray is awesome! You should also get it just for that as well. You get more for your money by buying a PS3 over just a regular Blu-ray player. However if you do plan to use your PS3 as one please make sure you have a HDTV to go with it.
 
A while ago I probably would have said that it was a waste of money. I bought mine the day it came out so at the time there weren't really any good games out on it (or at least any games that I believed were good). So it spent a lot of time just gathering dust.

But now I'd reckon it was worth it, it has some pretty good exclusives and the free online is a plus. I was also lucky enough to get one with backwards compatibility so it's convenient for playing older games. I have yet to utilize its blu-ray capabilities, but I don't have an HD TV so meh.
 
Easily worth it. When you look at exclusives such as Uncharted, Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain, God Of War etc no other console comes close in terms of quality of exclusives imo. Plus I use mine for an actual blu-ray player as well, which at the time, the PS3 was the cheapest one you could buy. Plus it has free online, none of this £50 for a year shite going on.
 
If you have time to spare and enjoy playing games then yeah its worth it. If you know of others that have one then its more enjoyable since you can play with them. Its up to the person whether they want one or not, i bought mine because i always wanted one from the beginning.
