Can we change the criteria to two years and 2000 posts?
Or something to make it more exclusive. Just about anyone can waltz in at the moment.
And can we have shorter times for username changes. 60 days is quite long.

Joining early doesnt necasarily make someone a dedicated member.

Im with hal.

You still haven't explained why a veteran's lounge is necessary in the first place. We already have more than enough password protected boards on this forum, adding more (even hidden ones) is just obnoxious to the other members.

Hmm, getting a 1000 posts is pretty hard to do.

I mean, how many are there really?

And I agree with the name change thing. It is too long >.< It should be between 30 or 40 days.

I never planned on explaning that in the first place.

Is there a way of making veteran status dependent on how much time you've spent hogging the shout box? That seems to be the trademark of a true FFF vet :wacky:

Well, how many people have 1000 posts?

Quite a lot of people have over a 1000 actually. Check out the forums' Statistics page and you'll see how many there are.

Getting 1000 posts isn't actually that taxing at all. For the newer members, it's the feat of having to be here for a year that could take longer.

EDIT: Wait, forget that I said that above sentence. I was using myself as an example. :8F:

If it got changed to 2000 posts, I don't think I'd ever make it in there, even in a couple more years :wacky:

48 people from 16,609 members on the forum have over a 1000 posts.

That's not a lot.

(I'm not count the people with 2000+ posts)

I think 1000 posts is still an achievement.

Looking at the Top 50 Stats reveals that only about 30 members have over 2000 posts, and not all of them are still active.

The danger in raising the standards might be that some people that care about it and would like to be in the Veteran Lounge might either go on a massive posting spree, or give up.

If anything I'm in favour of a class higher than Veteran for those members who either have 2000 posts, or are in the top 50 in the statistics, but not to get rid of the Veteran lounge for those with 1000 posts.

The people who stay long enough to get 1000 posts are usually people that will have friends of some sorts on this forum, and therefore the kind of people which people would like to see in the Veteran Lounge. A spambot, obvious troll or a noob who doesn't know how to post wouldn't ever make it that far.

I'm with you on this one.

People worked hard for those 1000 posts. It's not like a person gets to spam to get that amount.

That's actually not a bad idea at all, although I can still sort of see a potential problem with that.

If we were to have a member class for 1000+ (and a year+) and another one for 2000+ (and two years+), would they both get lounges of their own, like how we current veterans have our Lounge? Wouldn't that be a little redundant?

But if there ever is a class higher than Veteran, that class should be labelled "Veteran" instead. I really don't feel in anyway "veteran"ish. xD

Well, I've been here since October 2008 and I kinda feel veteran-ish...kinda.

The only benefit for me hitting 1000 posts is the larger avatar. If that stays the same then I'm all for it. I'm not that interested in Veteran Lounge anyway.
