"A vile imitation of grace. You will join rank and flank us with the rest of our medics."
Son of a motherless minotaur. This was not going at all how Kyrie had hoped.
"The ascent will be steep, but I assume you are prepared for that eventuality too?"
The implication of that question sent a chill up Kyrie's spine. She prayed to the Winds that it didn't mean what she thought it meant. As Kyrie stood stunned, Alicia filled the space.
"Sure! Uh.. Yes, General."
The battalion struck out at a brisk pace, as if they were fighting against time itself to get to their next destination. Kyrie knew they could not afford to stay with this enemy army for very long, lest they be discovered for what they really were. Instinctively, Kyrie knew that if Alicia's or Carita's powers were discovered, they would have a much more difficult time than would Kyrie herself.
Using the same subtle trick of slowing her pace a bit, Kyrie worked herself and her two compatriots just out of earshot of their escort. Her whispers were full of intense urgency. "The first chance you get to escape, get out of here. Even if we have to split up, the farther away from this army we are, the better. We can't take them on by ourselves."
Kyrie quickened her pace as a soldier gave her a curious glance. As she walked, she remained vigilant, waiting for an opportunity to escape to present itself.
