Anime Things you hate in Anime

English Dubs. Even the good ones are borderline with me.

Girls that do jack crap and moan and whine.

Overexageration of body parts. I mean, sure guys like big boobs, but then, it gets disgustingly out of proportion after a certain point.

Not really a hate, but when the supposed "ULTIMATE" move is attained, a more uber one comes up and that becomes ultimate while the old one becomes something they can use always (Bleach anyone?). Plus, when the main character is almost dead, they somehow manage to come back and knock the crap out of everyone (Bleach again?).

I think what I hate most are when the romance ends up looking really cliche. Kind of like the over used 'girl falls on boy' kind of thing. It's kind of annoying. Or, like when a guy or something declares his love for the girl or vice versa (like Fushigi Yuugi) they fall in love, live happily ever after, blah blah blah.....

That's why I prefer the kind of anime with really dark plots that don't focus very much on romance. And when they do, it's very subtle. Anime with all out romance just ends up looking really cliche to me.

completely pointless filler episodes (for long series) usually end up with like 10 of them while the writers figure out something interesting >.>

While it may true that protagonists like Alucard and Nanoha are a break from their norm from their respective genres, they are way too badass and that is all that their are. I hate they fact that they have almost no depth to them espeically Nanoha who is supposed to be a nine year old in the first two series but she behaves like a woman who is in her thirties and she "befriends" everyone. Nanoha is a spinoff of Lyrical Toy Box and in turn spionoff of Triangle Hearts where the heroine comes from a family of basically ninja and what is worst is that they added in Super Robot Wars where it has action but not enough character development and it is aimed at adults. Hellsing is just filled with gore and sex plus it has an overpowered protagonist who just happens to be an insufferable twit who basically a Sue character who suppose to be an effing vampire. Why should he care what a human is or is not?

things i hate in anime would probably be....fanservice. i mean how many panty shots can u hav in a minute? and their chests are HUGE! its so unreal, it totally ruins and anime for me

*EDIT: Can you please make an effort to elaborate on your posts in future. =) This is close to being a one liner post and this is a post count section. Thank you. =)*

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but I hate it when an episode or movie ends when someone says something stupid, then everyone starts laughing. It's really only now that I realize that that's not just exclusive to anime as it used to be done a lot in older cartoons, but still. Couldn't they have found a better way to end it than that?

The constant yelling out of the attack/special/move/thing/whatever. Part of me understands that it has to be done for new viewers or something, so as not to leave them confused, but this can get so annoying. "There it is! The -insert name-!!!"

I also hate when characters get fixated on that certain attack/special/move/thing/whatever. Like their entire fight/battle/match/duel/encounter/whatever/thing becomes fixated on that special, and they start special whoring or their opponent tries to prevent them from special whoring.

Prince of Tennis is doing this a lot to me right now, and it's pissing me off.

I've got to agree with you on this one. It makes them feel so stupid too. I mean, who bothers to actually tell the enemy what move he's going to make?

It's like playing tennis, and screaming out the location you are going to hit next. Unnecessary, but already a characteristic of most anime, it would seem.

I think the one thing that I hate about anime the most is the stare downs. Ya know when two characters are fighting and for a period of time without saying anything or doing anything. or when one the fighters is charging an attack and the other one doesn't do anything to stop them. That's just so annoying to me. x.x;;

Overly large breasts are a MAJOR turnoff in an anime for me. Yes some may find them nice but their is a point where it is just TOO much. The excessive panty shots get annoying as well.... I HATE when there is a fight in an anime and like half the episode is dedicated to one character or the other screaming "Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" and that is all. (Dragonball Z anyone?) I don't mind English dubs.. but I do hate how most of the girls are like whiny and have that airy sound to their voice... it makes them sounds like airheads :gasp: I really hate it when there is a really good anime that the creators decide to just end.., even though they are nowhere NEAR an actual ending, such as InuYasha did, although they thankfully decided to finish it, and Fruits Basket, which ended the anime at like Volume 8 of the manga... and the manga just finished with 23 volumes... So much of the story is left out, and it makes some very serious mistakes in the plot by cutting it off so short.

It is true, it takes like five episodes to charge attack in Dragonball Z. I hate it when the shonen protagonist regardless of reason is somehow always right about everything and never lose a fight but when they lose it is end of the world.

But one has to wonder if they're half as dumb as the receivers of the special or blow who let them get away with it. Let them power up, let them "bring out their true form", let them execute the attack after being fully aware of it. That gets pretty silly.

I don't see this next thing in a whole lotta anime, but when I do it's really annoying. I hate plots that are excessively dragged out - particularly those that do this by pretty much just repeating the same thing. Illustration needed? Inuyasha was the perfect example. It was so hard for me to get into that show, because it felt as though every other episode was the same thing.

"Ohh! Naraku! You're here! We're gonna get you!"
*Fight*
"Ohh, that's not really Naraku! Dammit all!"
"Ahh, but he left [some kind of obstacle for us] in his place!"

That was most of the series in a nutshell.

Speaking of predicting enemy movements, why couldn't they just off the guy before he/she attacks? Whty is it that the hero is the only overpowered protagonist in any shonen?

me, i hate the fillers, it just drags the series on and on, and i hate it when they show commercials in the middle of a fight.

I am not a fan of giant robots. I find mecha anime to be a bit boring.

Also, I hate yaoi overtones in characters that are supposed to be completely straight and have a love interest. Either make them full on gay or leave those out. This just leads to female character bashing and more arguements as to why male character x and y are hot for each other.

Emo characters with dark pasts. I am sick of them and their constant whining throughout a series.

*cracks fingers*

The Brat Pack. These are the little kids who travel in clumps and whose only perceivable purpose is to introduce comedic moments that break tension. Unfortunately, what they end up doing much of the time is destroying an otherwise acceptably serious moment. Also, one of them will inevitably have snot dripping out one nostril 24/7.

Extreme Yaoi Fangirls. I have no trouble with Yaoi. Even some Yaoi Fangirls are tolerable. One thing I've learned in 'shipping is that anything goes. Still, there is a type that bugs me. Specifically, the ones that support their pairing with such pride that any other pairing in their mind is not worth being spat upon.

Emo characters with dark pasts. I am sick of them and their constant whining throughout a series.
Eh, the occasional tragic past is all well and fine. It's when such a thing starts to dominate the entire series and hijack the plot that I hate it.

The Assumers. This is more a type of people than it is anything specific in anime itself. These are the people who hear "anime" and immediately think "tentacle porn", who see one cover page of "Dance in the Vampire Bund" and think "CHILD PORNOGRAPHY!" (Actually happened, and led to Onemanga suspending over half its content while it conducted a review), who see thirty seconds of DBZ and think "Homoerotic innuendo".

Okay, so that last one's totally accurate :p At any rate, it just bugs the crap out of me when people hear anything about anime and assume the absolute worst without even giving it a second glance.

"Anime Movies". Occasionally...you get something GOOD here (One Piece Movie #10) but by and large the movie consists of poorly designed villains with ridiculous powers, even stupider clothing, and wildly out-of-personality characters.

Sosuke Aizen. *muttered profanity here*

Oh..the war between the Robotech people and the Macross people which also dragged in the Battletech/FASA people as well in a separate lawsuit.

I would like to see all of these guys make peace and work together to stimulate their franchises and produce good products we fans can ejoy.

Well, what I hate most about animes are the filler episodes. Seriously, just when everything is starting to get exciting, they insert those damn episodes that doesn't have any connection with the current story.
And also, I hate flash backs. For example, Naruto. It's notorious for the excessive flash backs of almost all the characters, even the villains. They spend an episode or two just for those long flash backs.
and animes that involves robots and futuristic things, I don't like them.

What I hate in anime is probably the usual "cutesy" attitude present in almost every female character (note: almost). I mean, honestly, not all high school girls squeal when they see some cute guy, nor do they just blush and whimper when they get assaulted somewhere. -__-

That's why most of my favorite female anime characters are the badass, tomboyish ones.

The fact that nearly every single battle ends with someone using 'that move' or some other variant of the phrase 'that move'. That's annoying enough but it seems that nearly always people with abilities that are perfect counters to each other are matched up, and someone's ultimate move is the perfect thing to defeat their current foe.

Also now that I think of it the fact that fights slowly build up in terms of attack power, they never try and use their best attack from the off in order win, like what the H is that?
