Nintendo The Official Xenoblade Thread

No xenoblade for other platforms I suppose? Too bad about not ever intending on buying a wii.. :/

Europe's been given the shaft for so long (doesn't really help that companies often don't have EU branches), I suppose we've just completely accepted that this is how things often work. I'm sure there have been petitions and stuff, but nowhere on the grassroots scale of Rainfall and I honestly don't think they would have been very effective anyway with all the translations and all. Rainfall itself seems to hit a dead end at the moment, but with how well Xenoblade has been selling over here, it seems likely now that you guys will get it, even if it's not immediately soon. If not, then yeah, Reggie is indeed a clueless dick then.

And uh, since Monolith Soft is a subsidiary of Nintendo now, the only other platform I can see Xenoblade coming out for would be the Wii U, after some extensive remastering. I have seen some cliff faces in the game that look graphically horrendous.

So this game is finally coming out in America in April of 2012. So far it's a GameStop exclusive, and Nintendo of America has posted pictures to their Facebook page confirming some of the rumors that started this morning. I'll post things when I get home, but most of you know how to use Google, and it's popping up on sites like IGN and Joystiq etc. :gasp:

EDIT: You bastard, you beat me to it :hmph:

[Update: Nintendo has thrown fuel on the fire, updating its Facebook page with Xenoblade images! The plot thickens]

According to a NeoGAF Sherlock, Xenoblade Chronicles will finally come to North America despite Nintendo of America's previous refusals to publish it. If the rumor is true, it is slated for April 2012 and will arrive as a GameStop exclusive product.

The exclusivity is what makes this particularly plausible. It would indicate that Nintendo of America, while conceding to demands for a North American release, is wisely keeping supply limited as I once suggested it should do -- potentially producing just enough to satisfy the cult audience without mass-producing copies that the masses would ignore. I should be an analyst!

Of course, this is just speculation at the time, with Nintendo saying nothing on the matter. Still, hopefully it has merit. The game is reportedly pretty damn good, and it makes no sense to not release it in limited quantities when it's already been translated for Europe.

Have they ever actually done something like that before? As in, limit it to one store? Gamestop seems to be the US equivalent of GAME, and whilst GAME get the best exclusive packages, I don't think they get exclusive games...:hmmm:

Either way, I don't care if it comes to the US or not. I've already finished it and started it a second time (yes, I caved in, and now I'm destroying things in NG+ with the shiny True Monado) it's just a giggle for me that Nintendo of America don't realise that they'll make shitloads of profit if they release it in the US, because it's the best RPG in over a decade. Nothing even comes close to matching it; not Tales, not FF, Skyrim, NOTHING. It is THAT good.

But posting pictures of Shulk, pre-mechon Fiora and Mumkhar isn't really confirmation. Don't get your hopes up. If you wanted the game that badly you should have imported it by now anyway as far as I'm concerned, like those of us who are constantly being dicked around in this area of the world are having to do :ahmed:

Looks like we both decided to post at the same time, Martel :hmmm: You win for having sources since I'm on an iPod at school :sad3: My brother will probably buy this around when it come out since it's close to our birthday, and I'll eventually get around to playing it. Quite cool that NOA is listening to their fans and releasing it

I'm still skeptical about this, because I think they'd just announce it outright; there has been enough whining about in, after all. They'd want to watch all the people who have complained about this game not being released in the states worse than I have ever complained about anything in my life jump for joy. I suppose an official announcement could be coming, though.

Plus Nintendo in general NEVER listen to their fans, they're absolutely awful at it. Well, except for that one time, with Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver. But that was, like, an international thing - everyone wanted that - and it was more Game Freak than anything else. So it doesn't count.

I guarantee half of the people who have wanted this desperately, if they do get it, will start slagging it off, saying it isn't that good, though. :licky:

Still, if NOA do release it, good for them. I'm disappointed in them for not sticking to their guns when they said "No, you CAN'T have this one." if they do cave in, but not surprised, or really bothered. The US always get what they want in the end, why would it be any different on the video games front? xD

This never happened for us when we were given most of the shaft when it came to two of the Xenosaga titles. Lucky bastards. :hmph:

I kid, I kid. Congrats America. I know nothing's really confirmed yet, but seeing as some people have called up Gamestop for clarification and got a positive response from senior staff, it's sounding likely unless they're all on drugs or something. I guess releasing it with a limited circulation of stock makes sense, seeing as NoA are still as oddly fascinated as ever by the prospect of the game royally flopping in North America.

If this does happen, you better get your arses out there and support it if you don't want to let Operation Rainfall down, and/or discourage NoA from doing anything like this ever again. It's easily the most polished and most enjoyable JRPG to come out of Japan in a long while, and it's been a tremendous privilege to be able to play it.

Come to think of it, I need to complete it myself, so I can go round pummeling weak Mechons with the super duper mega ultra shiny Monado with naked Dunban on New Game +.

I am officially happy beyond words. I get home, and get some really wonderful news waiting for me. :ryan: I am so happy, I have wanted to play this ever since it was announced, and this does look official because gamestop have it in their reserve system! I love Xenosaga to death and my Wii is awaiting to get this masterpiece in the disc drive. This is really good news. Adri has officially become very happy. Also Livi, the Xenosaga series shall be in your hands someday. :sad3:

Thank you God :ryan:

/bursts in happiness

Thanks for the official confirmation. You have no idea how much this has just made me burst into happiness. :yay: I can not wait now. I do not care how far away it is, at least I know it is being localized here! :yay:

Looks like you guys are getting the British voices. Have fun with them, especially Reyn. xD

Of course we are! Re dubbing it would be extremely stupid. I have no problem with the British voices! xD I like British voices in Rpg's. :ryan:

:reptar: I'm glad they're not redubbing them. Sounds similar to Final Fantasy XII, right? :hmmm:

Better. XII didn't sound particularly British to my ear; the characters in this have freakin' dialects, so it's much better quality. Some of the antagonists talk like pirates though

Reyn is awesome, though. Make sure you jump around with him as much as possible.

Let’s Open Up The Xenoblade Chronicles Art Book

Xenoblade Chronicles comes out in North America next week and if you reserve the game at GameStop you’ll get an art book as a bonus. Nintendo sent one of these over to us, so let’s check it out! (That’s the cover on the right.)

The art book’s 20 pages are printed on heavy and glossy paper so these scans aren’t perfect, but hopefully you’ll have a better idea of the bonus item. Nintendo also has a black classic controller bundle on sale for $64.99 through their online store.

Xenoblade Chronicles available through Gamefly

Epic Wii RPG Xenoblade Chronicles has turned up outside of its “exclusive” distribution channels.

The MonolithSoft effort, which has spiritual ties to the Xenosaga series, was announced as a Nintendo Shop and Gamestop exclusive.
Nevertheless, there it is on Gamefly.

Xenoblade Chronicles is out now, and holds a 92 Metacritic average. Along with Mistwalker’s The Last Story and Pandora’s Tower, it makes up a trinity of Wii JRPGs which were not expected to launch in the west. After much fan petitioning, European launches were secured, and thanks to reasonable success, the localisations have filtered across to the US.

Thanks, Joystiq.

I'm in the end of the game and I have to say that this game is the best game for Wii for me.
The only thing that sucks on this game is the character design.

Just got to the Bionis Leg for the first time, and I have to say, I'm very impressed with this game. I'm looking forward to what's going to happen later on.
