I saw some pics today off of msn and they look really happy...and cute together. I really liked her dress, something on the simple side and not overly extravagant.

Finally, its over with though, and we can stop hearing about it

Still, theres some good news in the world today...I'd rather hear about a wedding than the almost 300 killed in the U.S. tornado outbreak, another dozen or so shootings in the inner city here, or another child abduction.

I don't really care about the Royal Wedding much. But, I did watch it. Most of it, anyway, I went out at 1 and got home about 4 so I missed all the stuff after the ceremony.

All I can say is... I'd marry Harry any day
It's a good day for British history. It's part of tradition... everyone loves British tradition, right?
Ohhh and the fly past by our RAF jets, I was impressed. The typhoons are ace.

I watched a clip when they were coming out of the Palace as a married couple. Kate's dress was so long and some guy was holding it from the back. Very beautiful dress that Kate was wearing but god that was such a long dress. So Princess Catherine and Prince William are now married. Even though I watched one clip.. I guess it was okayish.

pile of fucking pish, it was inescapable on Friday, every fucking channel, not that I had my tv on, i went out for dinner and it was on the tv's in the pub

I had a look at her dress, decided it looked shite and carried on eating my chilli, i was however happy at the fact that i was in the pub and not in work.... so i suppose thats one thing.

im pretty sure the majority of folk couldnt have given a rats arse - however, lets hope harry gets wed soon, so we get aanother day off work

I swear I'm the only one that actually thought it was a rather nice thing to hear about. Maybe because I live in the tristate area for me it was pretty fucking awesome to at least catch a glimpse of the procession before I got out for school. Most of the time on the local news all I hear about it in NJ especially is murder, kidnapping, murder, someone got robbed then murdered, then there was this terrible disaster in the South. My heart goes out to the families that were affected by that, it was just dreadful (which had me somewhat worried for one of my friends and my family that lived there). But they're all okay thankfully. I don't think it was terribly annoying although I was a bit peeved at the upheaval about the whole entire affair. I mean the media was practically salivating over every little detail . . . but there's a reason this is Princess Diana's son marrying a fucking commoner. Shit hasn't went down successfully in the past 350 years.

I know that for my family and myself (I think cause we just heart England, especially since our island's apart of the Commonwealth and there's a huge Caribbean community over in the UK) it was pretty fucking cool and amazing to see Harry exchanging vows with Kate and although I wasn't like "OMG HER DRESS IS SO BEYOOOOTIFULL!!!1111 ", I personally thought it was too plain and lacy I'm more for pomp, mermaid tails, fitted waistlines, sequined hemlines and shit . . . she still looked very elegant. She was poised, mature, calm, and collected and the actual wedding itself was very rehearsed and controlled. There was an air of happiness and I think it was infectious, even though I was trying desperately at first not to care; I did shed a few tears. I just think that William seems like a very kind and shy young chap and he channeled his mom a lot and I'm happy that he picked a very fitting and sophisticated young woman to be his wife. It's a good thing.

And to all the people who were moaning about the sheer coverage and how it was annoying and how they didn't want to watch it at all; in hindsight, they did interrupt with frequent reports about the South and the tornadoes and the response was very prompt actually so . . . yeah. It wasn't like they didn't say ANYTHING about the tornado disaster or that most viewers weren't touched and also mortified about the grievous event. Please, ease up about it. No one's forcing you to sit in front of your television and watch the Royal Wedding, this isn't a Clockwork Orange. You could distract yourself with something else or perhaps go outside to get away from the telly for a while if it was that bothersome to you. I dunno but I personally thought it was lovely and I'm very happy for the royal family, she seems like she'll be a lovely breath of fresh air for them. Yay.

I liked the royal wedding. I didn't feel it was over done, it was a good demonstration of British nationalism and identity. I think the taxpayer is only paying for security, seeing as the wedding wasn't a state wedding because Prince William is second in line to the throne behind his father. The royals are fielding the costs.

As for the importance of the event, I think what everyone is forgetting is how important the monarchy is in British and global diplomacy. The royal family is a symbol of Britain and the role that these two will play not only in Britain but throughout the commonwealth will be immensely important for British interests.

I was pretty neutral about the whole royal wedding thing, and if anything, I was pretty pleased to have a four day weekend and spend some quality time with my friends in the sunshine.

The day of the ceremony, I spent most of my morning watching the various guests arrive with my mother, then went off to meet some friends in a bar for a "hurray, we're not in work" drink celebration, and the wedding was being played in the bar on a huge flatscreen.

I can see why a lot of brits were so irritated by the whole thing, but I wasn't really phased. At the end of the day, it was just a wedding, same as any other.

Good luck to them both though.

I did'nt like the wedding at all it was really boring. All it was, was a normal wedding to me (I don't like weddings).

I just fell asleep watching it and I was only watching it because my whole family wanted to watch it. But I did'nt know how boring it was going to be.

This isn't really debate material so I'll shift it over to Midgar.

I am surprised this article was discarded as not debate material. Yet than again it might have been the original post that failed to set it up as so.

I saw another forums that had this debate to hell and back.

The question is a gathering of millions of viewer all veiwing something positive, can that have an affect on the general populas of people or is it all hokum. Typically the things most witnessed on the television are disasters or wars. How often does humanity get a chance for such a large population of people to actually sit down together and watch something that has nothing but pure happiness involved. The question is, could this have an alternate affect upon all those who witnessed it.

I dont believe so personally. I think that its a waste of tax payers money and I could care less about the royal family getting hitched (especially as an American). Yet none the less it made me tempted to watch it just because it would have been a worldwide sit down of people from everywhere to witness something with a happy nature...for a change.
