People have been randomly brining this up in the forum so i thought i would make a thread for your opinions on the matter.
This game had a unique battle system not seen since before FFIV
Do you think this game would have been better with an ATB?
Also what did you like or dislike about the battle system?

Leave it alone. FFX is the best battle system in all the FF series. I thought it was awesome that you got your turns based on the actions you took. There should be more FF games with this battle and leveling system.

I have to agree with the above poster I rather liked the battle system as is...sometimes ATB can be an ...irksome thing.
It was rather refreshing and I liked being able to see in advance based on what I did who would go next....I personaly give It an A++ as is

God no.

I absolutely love the turn based system in this game, it's actually one of the things that contributed towards me enjoying the game so much. It's really very convenient to see how the actions you took affected the rest of the turns.

Some people may say that it made the game too easy, but eh, if you thought it was too easy there's always the extra bosses and the Monster Arena for you to try.

Though I do like the ATB in some games, I was really happy with X's battle system the way it was and I wouldn't change it. It was actually one of my favorite things about the game, since though the story was good it wasn't my favorite in the series :hmmm: I especially loved being able to switch out the characters so easily, I didn't have to worry about which party I started a battle with because I could always change the lineup as needed.

yeah i'd leave it as it is already too. Like Kate, I like ATB in certain games but X... nah. I liked the battle system the way it is to be honest. It had a very different and unique way. I quite liked it. I deff wouldn't change it at all.

I liked it for the battle system a lot so, no.

i think the battle system was fine, compared to the other games i preferred the battle system of X, it is my fav, mainly because it was simpler and easier to use, you knew what you were doing, and it gave you a chance to heal/attack depending on when your foe was coming next and what not, gave you a chance to kill and not be killed.

I quite liked the turn-based system. I didn't like how you could plan 5-6 moves ahead, and there should have been some spontaneity to it. I guess some ATB system to force you into making your decisions quickly would have been nice. Another idea would be to add a random element to the little window that tells you who will attack and when. Perhaps it is occasionally wrong, or is only 100% accurate after casting Scan or something.

Either way, I thought the battle system was good, but needed something like an ATB element to keep the battles flowing. The ATB system in FFX-2 was great for example.

I think it made the game much easier later on if you had the right plan; you know when the enemy is going to attack so you can easily block the attack by summoning. mind you, this system made the Penance battle a lot easier for me as I was able to come up with an unbeatable tactic (well, Quick-hitting and healing is the only thing I did).

at first I thought it was good, when delay-attacks actually worked and you didn't have cheap moves like Quick Hit, but like I said things became easier later on.

being able to switch characters freely mid-battle was another change in this game, and I thought it was good given that I'm a fan of Dragon Quest's style.

Yes absolutely!

That would have made this the best FF game in the series IMO, but its too late now
The CTB was good enough and aloud for a more strategic process to the battles of FFX
maybe if they gave you the option of switching between the both types of battle time systems:)
