Hello!

Do you prefer to shop online or would you rather go to a local shop and try stuff on? Why?

I really want new clothes but I am finding the local stores have the shittiest stuff in them and they're all over priced so I have been looking at online clothing stores instead.
The problem with online for me is I like to know how my clothes are going to feel, I am paranoid about the sizes and also it's going to be hard to know if they will fit perfectly or not.

Also if you're an online shopper, what sites do you use? Please share :ari:

I have been using recently:

www.boohoo.com
www.modcloth.com (though they're stupidly expensive :()
http://www.asos.com/au/

Now you :toni:

Sassy. :lew:

I actually love shopping online, it's easier and less time consuming (especially since the nearest cloths shops are about 2 hours away). I've only browsed ModCloth before (I want to shop there so much :damon: ). BUT! like you said, it's EXPENSIVE! but there's a wonderful clothes site called shopruche.com and they have the same style (sometimes even the same pieces of clothing) as modcloth but for much cheaper. I remember seeing a top at modcloth that was 78 bucks but shopruche had it for $32... MAJOR difference :lew: So I am suggesting them to you. :ryan:

The first time I ordered clothes offline, I was thankfully lucky--it was at forever21.com(not sure if you have them though >_< ), after I got my clothes the sizes were perfect. I was sooo worried about the jeans but they were just a perfect fit. I'm a size M28 at forever21 but a size M7 at other stores like wetseal and jcpenny's, ect. Wetseal is a bit... teeny though. :wacky: (great jeans though) and they have good fabrics from what I know(I still have shirts from them that I bought 2-3 years ago).

However, at forever21... sometimes their shirts can be poorly made. I bought a top from there last year and as soon as I undid the buttons to put it on the strings holding the buttons just... fell off, I was angry at that. But then I learned how to tell if a top is well made or not. Check the material and how much certain material is used and look at the reviews! they're very helpful. Honestly, forever21 is cheap but their shirts being made cheaply (especially if it's made in other countries like China) is a big put off. :/ I'd go there for jeans because they're awesome... but not for tops unless I see they're good fabric.

If you're worried about size just order a pair of jeans and a shirt and wait to see if you like the sizes before shopping for more (that's how I got my perfect sizes). If they don't fit, you can return them! And don't let the poorly made factor put you off, usually reviews are either the green light... or the red light. If lots of people say it's a bad top then dont get it :lew:

hope i helped. :wacky:

EDIT: omgosh, that boohoo shop is amazing :raye:

I used to shop online quite a lot, primarily because I wasn't really fussed about clothes, but now I go to town to get clothes. I don't really like the idea of sending things back. :/ Sizes are so fussy and funny over here. :gasp: I range from a UK size 6 to a 10, though on average I am an 8/10. A couple of size 10s don't even fit me, which makes no sense at all. :hmph: How can I be 4 different sizes? :lew:

The quality of clothes in the shops over here fluctuates. During last autumn/winter, there was nothing anywhere! All of the clothes were drab. :sad3: But this spring/summer, there are far to many nice things, it's been difficult to choose which to get! :gasp:

I do quite enjoy visiting the shops every so often to have a look around with friends. I can't say I'm a big shopper - I wouldn't go every week, not even every month, and I rarely go to town to shop (instead, I pop into a few shops whilst meeting a friend) - but when I do go, it's nice to try lots of things on and see what suits me best. :)

I have bought a few things online though mostly band shirts and shoes. I mostly just use ebay for shoes and the band websites for shirts. I guess I generally like to buy clothes in person though so I can see if its comfortable or if the size is good. From my experience, most of the band shirts I own are not very comfortable, so I don't have high expectations when I buy them.

That said, I don't buy clothes that often. Partly because I'm stingy and partly because my friend's mum used to work as a manager for a clothing shop in the city so I got a lot of clothing from there for free.

I do the vast majority of my shopping online, I do like to have a wander round the shops but for the most part Ill see something and make a mental note to check it online later to see if i can pick it up cheaper. Its just more convenient, as I rarely have the time to take my time and go shopping, plus other people milliing about really winds me up, the worst job I ever had was in a clothes shop. Fuck the staff discount, it wasnt worth all the arse hole customers

my only issue with online shopping really is jeans, I cant ever find jeans that fit me and occassionally dresses and skirts, i never know whether to get an 8 or a 10, i tend to avoid anything that says 'one size fits all' as it very rarely if ever, fits.

Anything else though, Il happily buy online instead. I did my grocery shoppping online as well, but I havent done that for a while, its a bit more convenient now I have a car, at the time it was like, well the delivery costs less than a taxi and its less hassle, I can just point, click and have a brew

I'm not sure how I ever survived before online shopping

I do a fair bit of both. I don't like ordering clothes online as such because I find it just doesn't suit me, or the sizing is off. I occasionally get something nice from an online shop though. Recently online I have been ordering pointless stuff; like a deco phone case (AGAIN)! xD
Anyways, with clothes I'm more likely to buy them in store... although in store prices are a lot, as others have said. :/ Sucks, but sometimes with shipping costs it can cost just as much anyway in my situation.

I shop online at http://overstock.com and places like http://zazzle.com

Zazzle used to have a 'design your own shoe' feature which was pretty cool. You could edit shoe template images in photoshop / gimp & upload them to custom design your own shoe from self-made content. And, you could select trim color, sole color, etc, etc. Prices were a bit high, but cool nonetheless. ^_^

I've actually bought clothes from wal mart. I remember I got a shirt that was 3$ from wal mart, once. They have bargains, occasionally. Mostly, I just shop anywhere that isn't the gap or.... DAMN, what's the name of the place everyone made fun of a few years ago. :hmm: HOT TOPIC. That was it.

I just shop anywhere that isn't a wannabe pretentious and trendy fashion place others shop at. :elmo:

I've done a few online shopping before. I got my Pretty Little Liars boxset of books from the Barnes and Noble website. I purchased and shipped out presents for my ex before online--actually we pretty much always shipped through online orders because he lived at least two towns away from me. It was quicker than driving about 30-45 minutes to his house. For myself, I've sworn by etsy.com for any cute little artistic things I may want to get it. Independent self-employed artists will work out of their homes and craft anything you can think of: doll sets for kids, clothing, personalized cards, posters, jewelry, calendars, etc. It's a nice little "oyster bed" for the artist at heart. I purchased my photography calendar from there about 6 months ago and it was a very beautiful calendar. The artist mailed me her business card and a cute little "thank you" card along with the calendar. But yeah, my cousin's gotten me into online shopping more now. I've even bought a Langston Hughes poetry book from ebay.com (loooove that site). I mean I still love to browse and window shop in actual stores. I have my mainstays: TJ Maxx, Target (for general things), Forever 21 (hit or miss, but they usually have cute clothing), Wet Seal (loooove), Hot Topic (their graphic tees are love), etc. I'm a mix of girlish femininity and nerdiness so it works out.

for clothes, i prefer to do it in person since you can see what it looks like on before you waste your money, or find out it doesn't fit as well as you thought it would. i know you can always return stuff you bought online, but that's just needless hassle i think.
for stuff like dvd's and electrical stuff, i'll do whatever way is cheapest. usually that's online but i do still like to go into shops and have a look.

I am so lazy so I love the convenience of online shopping. I'm pretty good at determining what size I should get for clothes and have never had a problem with something not fitting me properly. I mostly do online shopping for other things such as books and video games. I'm quite obsessed with amazon.com because I like to get these things used because I'm poor. Also, there are just some things online that you can't get in stores for example threadless.com and teefury.com. And by ordering stuff online it definitely gives me something to look forward to...it's like Christmas when my packages come. I love it! haha

When I shop, I usually like to do it in a store because I'll get what I need immediately. But unfortunately, many online stores like newegg have a wide variety of stock and their prices are so much lower than any store you'd go to offline that the wait is worth it.

with computers, it's just no competition - you have to shop online for your parts.

when i want a game, i want it and i want it now, so I usually go to a store or, if the game is available on pc, will just download it.

I think the only place I have ever considered buying clothes online at is Jinx, just to get some warcraft apparel. Only shirts I'm interested in, really. Otherwise though, it's gotta be for real. I'm not ordering shoes online just to turn around and say that they suck. That wastes everyone's time and I probably have to pay shipping charges.

It depends for me, really.
Clothes and such I prefer to buy in store, but when it comes to movies or books and games, I don't mind buying them online.

I think online shopping is convenient, especially if the stores you like aren't nearby. But I also don't like buying something and then having to wait for it, so that's why I sometimes choose in store shopping over online.

I am not a huge fan of shopping online, although I have many times. When I go on clothing sprees, I always shop at my neighborhood Kohls. I adore that place and they always have nice stuff. Not to mention I love trying on clothes :lew:

But I love modcloth.com :jess: Although yes, they are expensive and I don't get stuff there too often.

I mainly shop online if it's a brand I love that you can't find that much in stores, or have crappy selection. I also usually get my essentials online, like winter coats or swimming suits.

I tend to order books online, both ebooks and regular books. It is easier to get the editions I want for regular books if I just order them online, plus none of the bookshops near me allow ordering. I also get T-shirts online because obviously that is where you can get all of the best ones, generally for dirt cheap. I buy all my other clothes in shops though, it is easier to try them on and make sure they fit etc. I wont know what I want till I browse, and I couldn't be arsed sitting in front of a laptop clicking next until I saw something I liked

I honestly can't remember the last time we bought something in an actual store, besides grocerys. We do everything online. It's faster and easier. Especially during a time like black friday. Why risk getting stabbed or shot at a store, when you can get equally as good deals on cyber Monday? Anyway, yeah online shopping. Faster, easier, and deals unique to certain websites.

I love shopping online.

Supre and Boohoo are my favourite clothing sites and then Ebay, Gumtree for everything else.
There's another site I've been wanting to shop at when I have the money called prettylittlething.com

I'm not silly and just assume everything is always cheaper online and so will only do online shopping. I still like to go the shops and find the best price on things both online and off, though majority of the time online is the way to go.

Sometimes it's a bit scary buying clothes online because their size 6 could really be a size 8 or a size 4. It could go either way and then you're screwed when it arrives and it doesn't fit, but I've only ever had a problem with that once and it was only $10 so no real loss anyway. >.<
