Yay?
Nay?

But seriously, this topic is about one of the more interesting facets of Seymour's personality that isn't brought up a lot.

What do you think he felt for Yuna?

I don't think anyone would define it as love but he did choose her to be the one to help him achieve his dream of becoming Sin. Even after the party confronts him in Macalania and he drops all pretenses, he says to Yuna "your eyes, they burn with resolve. Beautiful!"

I can't help but think that he didn't truly feel anything for her. She was a device for him to become a martyr and/or so that he'd become the Final Aeon, and thus Sin, so he could destroy Spira. Any flirty comments or anything of the sort that he made at her I think were just part of his manipulation of her, since he read Yuna as the type to go along with something if it made people happy.

I really just think he was trying to impose himself upon her for his ultimate goal, and nothing more.

I remember when I first played through and Yuna said "He asked me to marry him!" And I was just like WHAT

It was such a wtf moment :lew:

Well I think he wanted Yuna because she was so famous/popular so that his plan of taking over the world would be easier achieved and seem less evil since it's with Yuna. But I also think he saw her as a young and beautiful girl that is maybe even a little naive. (HE thinks she is naive...of course I don't think so.)

Considering it's a been a while since I've played 10, I now realize how weird it is that Seymour and Yuna actually kissed 8( Grossss lmao.

Honestly, I think Seymore just wanted Yuna cause he saw her as a young girl that could be easy to manipulate.

I don't think Seymore really loved her, he even said he proposed to her as a "Maester of Yevon" and he also needed her to become the next Sin and destroy everything.

I couldn't stand Seymour! He was obsessive, warped and slimy. :lew:

I believe he lacked emotions. He didn't love Yuna. He saw her as a tool. Marrying her could have made him more popular, although he was more concerned with
becoming her final aeon. He knew that if Yuna used him to defeat Sin, he would eventually become Sin. He could then destroy the towns and cities in Spira and end the spiral of life and death, which he seemed to think was humanity's prison. He believed that he could save everybody by destroying life itself.

Seymour didn't care about Yuna's goals. His ambition was entirely different from hers. She wanted to restore life to the people, even if she could only do so for a limited amount of time.

Seymour could see that Yuna was pure and naive and he wanted to use that purity, to abuse it and take advantage of it.

When he said 'Yuna, your eyes. They burn with resolve. Beautiful,' I believe he just wanted to patronise her, to make her appear weak and pitiful.

Yay or nay, you say? Absolute NAY :P

Seymour is still to this day my most hated FF villain. This isn't like Caius who was genuinely pained every time Yeul had to die; this is Seymour who was deranged and didn't care whose lives he destroyed to get to his ultimate goal...which was to destroy everyone's lives. He killed his own father and he would have quite willingly killed Yuna too, and tried on multiple occasions. He was a selfish, creepy seducer, not a lover.

Pretty much this. Yuna was just a means to and end. That's all.

I highly doubt he felt anything emotional for her. Anything sexual? Eh, I guess it's possible. But honestly I think it was purely manipulation. He probably just saw her as the daughter of Braska, who had defeated Sin last....so she was the one the most likely to defeat Sin this time around. Or at least that's how most people saw her. He just saw her as his opportunity to
become Sin
.

If Yuna wasn't around he probably would have found another summoner.

He was quite ambitious, I don't think he really gave a toss about her. He just wanted to use her to become more powerful (become the next Sin). He pwned his dad and stuff, so I don't see him as the 'loving husband' type.

His "loving father" had exiled both him and his mother to Baaj for years. Remember that hellhole Tidus ended up in when he first came to Spira? Great place for a single mother to raise her baby.

The result of course was Seymour's mother killing herself in front of her son to try and make him better.

Seymour's parents wee both awful but you should all remember Jyscal admitted that he deserved to die for what he did.

To be fair to Jyscal though, Baaj temple wasn't a hellhole when he sent Seymour and his mother there. It was a glorious temple before it was attacked by Sin.

That's a good point. I was wondering who Seymour moved Anima's fayth there when it was underwater and all.
Sin attacking and destroying it afterward clears that right up.

Even still Jyscal doesn't begrudge Seymour killing him so I don't view it as a big deal.

Anyone ever watch Smallville? This pairing completely reminds me of Lex x Lana. It's awesome. So many secrets and lies; she loathes him, he only wants to watch over her, they keep eachother for their own reasoning.

Totally fucked, it's great.

I always thought that, while he may not have loved her, he did have some type of attraction to her that went deeper than her being a summoner and/or Braska's daughter. Remember what Lulu said in Kilika; that the dead become more and more angry over time and eventually turn into fiends. I think that applies to Seymour to some extent; the longer he was unsent, the more insane he became and the more he only cared about 'healing' Spira. Yuna had always been a tool to him, sure, but unlike before when he would flirt with her at every opportunity or try to charm her in some way (I mean really, a giant sphere of Zanarkand followed by an intimate scene of 2 lovers and then a marriage proposal? Seymour was totally Cassanova :P), by the time of his sending, he didn't give a damn about her, or even pretend to give a damn about her like he did before.

But yeah, I do like this pairing... kinda. It's so incredibly screwed up that it's awesome.:x3:

There was an attraction, wasn't there? I totally felt it. There was some sexual hormones spewing out of his pores, let's be real here. Seymour was so thirsty for Yuna.

I don't think either of them felt any sort of passion for the other. Definitely not Yuna for Seymour.

Yuna was having her heart being pulled toward Tidus throughout the game. Actually she put more of a backseat on romance because she knew the mission to save Spira was the #1 priority.

Seymour's feelings for Yuna were all off of greed and ambition. He wanted to take her to be his Yunalesca. He needed someone to fall in love with so he could become the Final Aeon. When that went sour, we saw where Seymour's true intentions lay: he wanted to kill Yuna and her Guardians.

I say no love either way, they'd be a horrible couple, and the kiss was a forced/unwanted kiss. Same as the almost wedding.
