Is it just me, or is Serah's new character design for XIII-2 almost identical to Porom in IV: After Years? When I saw this picture of Porom I initially thought it was Serah from XIII-2!

So, on top of being jailbait, having a terrible voice actor, absolutely destroying any hope Snow had of being an even remotely tolerable character and just being one of those all-around annoying characters that you wish you could forget but just can't because she's being brought up every three seconds in conversation, Serah's design isn't even original?

...why am I not surprised?

Although honestly, I thought she looked more like a pink-haired Rikku, at least in terms of facial features, or what count for facial features in Square Enix characters. Her outfit reminded me a bit of Stephanie from Lazy Town.

Looking at those pictures, I agree with you. Especially from the torso up. Disregarding the clothes, it is almost identical. So, is pink hair like the FF craze right now? It looks fucking stupid.

I don't think I would have ever noticed how similar they were until you pointed it out. I have to say though Porom's is soooooo much better looking!

So, on top of being jailbait

Don't you mean "appearing to be jailbait but not really jailbait"? Since, you know, she is 18, and will apparently be 23 in XIII-2.

I said what I wanted to say :mokken:

On a minor note, how old is Porom in that picture? :hmmm:

I cant say for certain but I think she was in her early 20s for that image.

On a side note, if that was a coincidence, it's scary how overused their designs are :wacky:

Kay, I just looked it up, and apparently she's twenty-two :hmmm:

It isn't too surprising that her design has been trashed, though - compare the PS1 generation onwards characters to all that follow. Cloud is a female Lightning, Paine is a female Squall, Type-0 is a cameo cast of so many re-used designs listing them would take too much effort, and a lot of other characters look the same as ones that came before them. It's like they have some sort of base model and just build up clothes and hair colour around that, occasionally making them smaller or larger.

It's just the first time Porom has been ripped off, and such an obscure design as well, since The After Years isn't really popular or noticeable...

Noctis My-Name-is-Fancy-and-Latin also seems to just be a rehash of Zack from FF7's design.

This is kind of similar to Serah's design but have you noticed the whole gang of NORA looks exactly the same as they did in XIII? This isn't too much of a gripe but in X-2 most of the NPC's had the same outfits so I found it distracting. It's weird to follow the gang if they're supposed to be five years older. As long as they make each main character look different I'll be satisfied I think.

You'd think Lebreau would grow out of those panties she wears to battle.

I am also not fond of Serah's new design :damon:

I always knew she was stick thin but her skin tight short dress that would expose a ton of skin if it weren't for her red tights...doesn't look that flattering to me. However, if it weren't for those tights that outfit would make her look way too exposed. I do like the red/gold/white theme of it though. The shoes are awful though, they look like bright pink (which don't even match her outfit) Sketcher's tone-ups, in my opinion.

I don't see how battling in a skin tight mini dress is going to be all that easy, but in Final Fantasy short skirts and mini dresses never pose a problem during a battle :lew: They could've done a lot better... but thats just me.

Forgetting mini skirts which seem a bit inappropriate, Yuna's long dress from X would have been terrible also. Thinking back, she was one of the most modestly dressed FF heroine. First and last maybe?

Well, everybody knows that sex sells. I mean, Serahs a softcore pornstar. Lightning's a Fetish pornstar(Armour gets us all really going,eh?;)) and our new character Noel gets....... MC Hammer pants! Cant touch this shit.

I really just hate how they took away her cute look like that. Serah was supposed to be the cutest Final Fantasy character. She got sexed up pretty bad and now they completely ruined her character... Wait she had a character? Other than being stuck in a crystal and being useless? Hmm I really do not think so. I really am not a fan of her new design. However if she can at least have an interesting side to her, it would be worthwhile. I guess this is Square enix's definition of sexy: Make Yuna like Lara Croft, and now sex up Serah just like how Yuna and Rikku were. Always going to be these crappy designs where sex appeal has to be everything.

Rikku was definitely sexy to begin with. And also cute. I think maybe they implied Rikku matured a bit in X-2 to a young woman kinda sexy thing. I agree it was not a good move, as with Yuna.

...you guys have an odd definition of the word "sexy" if you're applying it to Serah...but then, I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I think the most unflattering thing about Serah now is that she looks like a female version of Lightning. Ripping off discarded for the moment, Serah has changed completely from how she was in FFXIII: she's gone from being jailbait to being a standard women's body in ridiculous clothing with Lightning's head photoshopped onto it. I know they're supposed to be sisters, but the only similarity between the two of them was their hair colour. If Lightning were actually effeminate, and not just a manlier version of Cloud Strife, it'd be impossible to tell the two of them apart now if they let their hair down and dressed the same...

At first I was like, huh?
I kinda of disagree, I think Serah has 'man'ed up for sure as well as losing all conservativeness she had (if much) but she is hardly identical to lightning now.
Facial structure is quite different and they do look similar, but I think that's the point and emphasised because they are siblings.
They had completely different attitudes not to mention, which I hope stay in tact, though thats not the point of this thread.

Square-Enix seem to be associating "maturity" with "wearing less clothing". It may also be their attempt to cater to a wider audience than they did with previous titles. What's the easiest way to draw in the majority of casual gamers? Scantily clad women. X-2, for all it's inadequacies, still sold very, very well, and I'm very sure the trio of half-dressed heroines helped to boost its sales considerably.
