...and say something bad about your favourite FF game. If you can list 3 things, that would be great!

Try not to include spin-offs, we all know most of them suck!

Least Favourite: FFII
+
The character development system was very... original, and had a lot of potential to work better given a reworking if the system was revisted.

+ The characters are actually really quite cool, and it was nice to see them with personalities, given how little characters have in FFs I and III.

+ The battle theme is probably my favourite version of the "traditional" battle themes (ie, up to and including FFIX, but minus VII and VIII).

Favourite: FFVII
-
Cait Sith sucks balls.

- The Don Corneo/Wall Market sequence really drags.

- A lot of the summons are made redunant by summons you get later in the game.

Least fav: XII

- Graphics are good.
- Took risks. ie, had balls.
- Had some decent characters. -.-

Fav: X and VII tie, so I'll do three for each?

X

- Tidus can be a bit of a twat.
- Yuna is too good for Tidus.
- Yu Yevon was an easy/crap boss.

VII

- Characters are overrated
- Seph isn't as cool as Kefka
- Certain summons really were useless.

Really good thread, so I think it deserves to be in FF General Discussion. ^_^

[Thread Moved to FF General Discussion]

Least favorite: XII
-Balthier is one of the best characters in anything ever. If the rest of the cast had been as awesome and nuanced as he is, this might be my favorite Final Fantasy instead of my least favorite.
-Huge cities. It was neat to run around places that felt like people actually lived in them, instead of two houses and some shops.
-Political backstabbery is fun.

Favorite: X
-Yuna's voice actress is terrible. Well, she does fine in some other stuff, including X-2, so I have to assume it was a directorial issue. Nevertheless, bad.
-Kimahri was pretty pointless in battle.
-Most of the sidequests for the celestial weapons were insane and unfun. Dodge 200 lightning bolts? Blerg.

This is a super awesome thread, btw.

Least Fave FF VIII:

-The Draw system was pretty ingenious

-The Crafting system for weapons was definatley a new concept

-Seifer was a decent character

Fave FFVI:

- Sabin was annoying, and overpowered.
- Kefka was far too weak as the final boss.
- Gilgamesh'es appearance in the arena was far too random

good thread, have some rep ^^

Least favourite: FFIX
+ Vamo'Alla Flamenco and Dark Messenger are both incredibly awesome songs.
+ Vivi has his moments...
+ Zidane is a little more optimistic than most FF protagonists, I suppose.

Favourite: FFVIII
+ Flying gardens, time compression, dream flashbacks and the Squall-Rinoa romance make the story of this game a little hard to swallow sometimes.
+ Limit Break. I win. End of battle. Excluding Omega Weapon, this applies to every enemy in the game. Especially once you get access to Aura, and Lionheart makes Disc 4 a complete joke.
+ Lunatic Pandora - most infuriariting piece of music in any FF game EVER.

...ugh, I feel the need to wash my mouth out...

Least favorite: VII. I could have gone with X-2 since it's my least favorite, but I really have nothing good to say about it, so I'm going for VII.

+Aerith/Aeris was a sweet character.
+Cait Sith moments were nice.
+Battle system looks awesome.
+Omnislash looks good!
+One-Winged Angel = One of the best soundtracks ever.

Favorite: IX
-I hate Grand Dragons early in the game!
-Amarant needed more development
-Necron was pretty random

I guess that's what I hate about IX. I really can't find anything else i dislike so I could pick on it.

Least favourite is VII:

Cloud was a great hero.
Sephy made an awsome, kick arse villian.
Tifa is the ulitmate babe!

Most favourite is VIII:

Squall is a whiny ass emo kid.
The music sucked daddy-bags.
Laguna needs a hair cut!!

... Im going to have a hot shower to scrub the nastiness of VII of me and Im whipping myself for insulting FFVIII ... *whimpers*

Least favorite: FFXII
- The license board was actually pretty good, assuming you knew when certain spells were available
- Ashe and Balthier make up for Vaan and Penelo
- No random battles

Favorite: FFIV
- Edward.
- Lack of customization
- Edward.
- No real "super" bosses, considering that the final boss is the hardest anyway.
- Edward.
- Poor translation.
- Edward.

I know it seems like I put a lot of faults for FFIV, but the pure challenge, even from the American SNES version, makes it by FAR my favorite. Nothing was more rewarding than beating Zeromus.

Least Favorite: XII

-Balthier was a decent character
-I loved the design of some of the towns
-getting to use a back up party if the main party died

Favorite: IV
-The middle with
everyone dying and then suddenly somehow surviving
-Edward was useless
-Not getting to use Yang in the final battle! (original version)

Least Fav: FFX
-Kimarhi was a beast
-Summons looked amazing
-Blitzball was pretty addicting

Fav: FFIV
-Edward
-The space flying whale ship(to many memories of Star Trek IV)
-Not getting to use Golbez

Least Favourite - Final Fantasy II

+ Guy can talk to beavers! Despite the fact that this is completely unexplained and rather odd considering Guy can't even speak English that well - that is rather awesome! Plus his knowledge of beaver-talk helps your party!

+ Hey - I have made Maria into a character very skilled with swords, black and white magic in battle - with high HP as well. In a normal levelling system, I wouldn't be able to do that!

+ The opening FMV is alright I suppose...:hmmm:

Favourite - Final Fantasy VI (oh dear, I don't want to say anything bad about this game >_>)

+ Kefka to put it this way - is just a screwed up madman with vague and destructive intentions, and perhaps more depth could have been put into his character. To me, he doesn't seem to have reached the level of clown-awesomeness as the Joker.

+ The extra Espers such as Leviathan could have been in the PSone release as I don't have the GBA version. I would have also liked Leviathan to replace Bismarck though.

+ At the beginning, movement through towns and dungeons can become unbearably slow until you get the sprint shoes.

Least favorite-XII

-Had quite a few very interesting characters.
-Graphics were amazing.
-Awesome music.

Favorite-VIII

-Squall's emo ways were so annoying.
-Drawing magic sucked.
-Enemies leveling up with you was gay.

Least Favorite: FFII
- The Beaver Cave part cracked me up
- Great supporting cast: Leila, Josef, Richard, and Ming-Wu were all awesome
- Maria was hot...for a sprite

Most Favorite: FFVIII
- Time Compression was almost even more confusing than was FFI's time loop
- There was no cathartic confrontation/reconciliation with Seifer
- The "GFs are ruining our ability to remember" plotline went nowhere: I still continued to use them

My least favorite would be FFXII.

  1. The option of roaming about freely
  2. The skill board was kinda fun
  3. Liked how it did not have to transition into a battle.
Its hard to dis on FF

Least favorite 7 (12 but I got bored of it and barley remember anything.)
- sephiroths sword
- golden saucer (I think. The mini game area)
- the weapons were insanly hard.

Favorite 10 (undecided on 13)
- weapon side quests.
- Yu Yevon as a final boss? Fail.
- x-2 (that probably doesn't count. So I'll add a fourth)
- why is everyone dead?? About half of the npc's are unsent. Even jyscal, who was sent, is unsent.

Least favourite FF: FFV

- The wide variety of jobs added a lot of depth to the gameplay, especially when you could carry over job abilities to other classes. For example, there was no paladin class but you could make one by learning the white mage and knight skills. It allowed a lot of creativity.
- It was a difficult game IMO, so the challenge and satisfaction of beating it was substantial. This positive would depend on the player though...
- I'm struggling to find a third... Well I suppose there was a great variety in the environments. It ranged from the typical world map areas to ships, towers, forest, lava dungeons and crazy places in other dimensions. :gasp:

Favourite FF: FFX (haven't played IX in ages so this could change)

- Tidus was an annoying and whiny bitch. Even though that was integral to the story, it's still annoying.
- Auron wasn't given the proper credit for being such a good character IMO. The ending was a bit of a disappointment when it came to Auron. His importance seemed to tail off towards the end of the game.
- The Dark Aeons were stupidly difficult. I don't think it should be called a battle when you have to auto-phoenix and take 99 of them with you because every attack destroys you. It should be more of a fight rather than a rinse and repeat exercise.

Least favorite: FFXII

+ Gorgeous graphics
+ Fun battle system
+ Great voice acting

Favorite: FFX

- Most annoying villian ever: Seymour
- If I hear anything about a 'story' one more time I will murder everyone :2guns:

- "The wind...it's nice"

*Yuna and Tidus laugh hysterically*

*Me: :brow:*

- Tidus can be a bit of a dumbass.

least favourite: XII
- The hunts were pretty addictive
- Level up system
- some songs

Favourite: X

- Some cutscenes were really weird, like the Yuna and Tidus laighing scene
- Seymour, he never left >.<
- Obtaining Kimahri', Lulu's, Rikku's and Wakka's celestial weapon

Least Favorite: FFVIII

1. The story is entertaining
2. Quistis is a good character
3. Balamb Garden is very nice looking

Favorite: FFIX

1. Dagger is annoying
2. Finding some of the Chocographs can get very irritating
3. I feel they should have gave Amarant more of a purpose in the story

Wow, that was easier than I thought it would be! XD
