[RP] Final Fantasy IX: Scars of Terra

Aaron: Cause I'm looking to be a Knight for Alexandrea,Queen Garnet said I should search out for a Man called the Flaming Amarant,Duel him,and see if he think's I have what it takes...Truth is I'm doing this as a last request for a Friend I don't have anywhere else to go now so this would be a chance to do something good for Gaia..

Someone who knew Amarant well would have seen him flinch momentarily at the mention of Garnet's name. If Garnet had sent him, there must be a good reason, and just to test his strength and get Amarant's stamp of approval on his abilities was probably only a secondary goal. And after the events of seventeen years ago, Amarant was not one to go against the wishes of the now Queen of Alexandria. He was, however, one to do things his own way.

"Tell you what. You find us the way out of here that leads toward Burmecia, and I'll tell you where you can find Amarant. Deal?"

Antlion's Lair-Tunnel's

Aaron Noticed the mans face turn serious as if he's in deep thought, they stop at a fork of 3 route's as the man say's something.

"Tell you what. You find us the way out of here that leads toward Burmecia, and I'll tell you where you can find Amarant. Deal?"

Aaron:...Deal since we're at a fork hopefully this'll work

Aaron sit's down and ponders a moment he only know's two methods of exiting a maze like this,First he stick's his finger in his mouth and point's it into the air, after around 2-4 mintes he feel's a small breeze come from the right route.

Aaron:There's a breeze coming from the right tunnel my guess is that it's the way out..

Aaron stand's up and walk's ahead of the man, they walk for about a half hour before they finally see the exit.

Aaron:Well there's the exit, hopefully that monster isn't around to try and get us back for kicking its butt.

"I suppose for tonight i'll have to find a new room, any suggestions? I assume Annelise's would be crowded enough by this point"

"Any room is fine for the moment. You can place her in my room if you need to. We're going to want to finish things up here soon. The sun has already set, and the travel will take a few good hours. Those coming, we will be assembling at the gates and joining my mother's company."

"Alright, I'll take the woman to your room for now."
Annelise said as she carried the woman over to the Burmecian's inn room. The woman was probably passed out and it was better to have a warm place to sleep in rather than in a back alley behind the inn. Nonetheless, the role of a Knight meant sacrificing much for the sake of helping others, to be selfless in her duties to the service of people. Laying the woman down on the bed, Annelise turned around and headed out the door. "Alright, if you need me, I will be by the gates. I'll meet you all over there." Annelise began walking out of the inn, moving towards the gates to meet with Lady Freya.

Lan Ester

Lan nodded as he followed Anne out of the room and out of the inn. Pulling out his green robe, Lan quickly placed it on while marching towards the gate. Soon enough, the army that Robert mention stood in front of them. One quick look around and Lan saw a carriage that had a few people in front of it. Most notably, a woman on a black Chocobo. Lan managed to get close to the lady before several spears barred his way to her.

"Cuse me. Is this where Robert's group meet up for this night time march into Clerya?" Lan asked the lady on the black chocobo.

After everyone was done analysing the incident with Twin Sword, Ricard weakly rose to his feet, gathering his still wet clothing and carrying it to Annelise's room. Since it was the one of the only rooms without a second occupant, he could always explain to Annelise when he saw her next.

Placing his clothes near the fireplace he guided his eyes around her room, it was largely unaltered save for a few of Annelise's thing placed in one area, possibly to avoid mess.

Taking his katana out of his sheath, he noticed it was still somewhat damp from the rainfall, perhaps Burmecian rain had a greater strength than normal rain. Drying it with a cloth he resheathed it before kneeling before the fire, trying to warm himself up as well to regain his strength.

Alleria Stormseeker

In any case, this brief episode was over. Alleria didn't know who Annelise brought with her, but whoever that was, it apparently didn't matter much. Neither did that woman that Ricard was seen with, apparently, who was already gone by now. All in all, a weird episode, but not one that could take Alleria by anything more than a mere amusement.

Nevertheless, she had no intention to stay in the inn, even to dry her clothing. Annelise was heading towards the gates for some reasons unexplained - reasons that piqued Alleria's interest, no doubt.

Since Annelise didn't express any unwillingness to let anyone follow - and since Lan did - she went along, walking behind them. With the group, they soon came upon a force of Burmercian soldiers gathered...

... And mounted on a black chocobo...

Is that... Lady Freya?

Walking over behind Lan with both excitement and hesitation, she looked up to Freya the way a child would look up to a hero. Freya was one of the few female warriors of repute (that was mentioned in her textbook). To be able to meet her in person....

Man, I'm so satisfied I could die this instant... If I were that tired of living anyway.

Sir Fratley

Robert walked out of the inn. In truth, he didn't really need a room for himself since he could always crash at his parent's house after the mission was done with. However, now was not the time to worry about such things.

He felt both resolved, yet nervous. This was his first actual mission, and it was a high priority one to boot. The rescue wasn't going to be easy, considering Samuel's residence was at the top of the Cleyra tree settlement. That, and he had to wonder if Ri's 'friend' was setting a trap at the Cleyra Trunk, or if she was telling the truth. He'd have to ask Ri on the way there, once he came over to join them.

"Cuse me. Is this where Robert's group meet up for this night time march into Clerya?"

Freya glanced down at Lan when he asked. Since she expected her son would only tell those involved, she trusted that he was one of her son's group, merely verifying his location. "Yes. There is a carriage in the back that you and the others will be riding in until we reach the tunnel entrance. When my son arrives and confirms that the group is fully accounted for, we will move out." Freya spoke. They had about twenty minutes before they had to leave, with or without Robert's group.

Robert came up from the rear towards the others who had gathered before his mother. After taking account of who was there, the young Burmecian knight stepped in front of the crowd to address his mother in a military fashion. "I have one more en route, General." Robert reported, keeping himself at attention.

Fratley walked over to Robert and placed his hand on his son's shoulder. "Well now, I hope you're ready to put all that training your mother and I put you through to good use. This is your first real mission, so I know you must have a rush of so many things going through your mind. Just keep your wits sharp, your eyes and ears on your surroundings, your mind on the mission and look out for your team mates. No one fights alone." Fratley spoke before patting his son's shoulder a few times and heading off towards the castle.

Freya looked over to Annelise and gave a polite nod to her. "It's been a while since I saw you last Annelise. How are Beatrix and Adelbert? Is he still wearing that rusty old armor?" Freya asked.

Eunorus Plains

The battle had reached it's climax, Noah and the wild Serpion strafing tactically left and right to finish their blood dance. The dragon moved out of desperate rage and fear. Noah of calm, collected strength.

At the end of its rope, the Serpion let out a blood-curdling wail and lunged toward Noah in a final assault. It was considerably slower than its previous attacks, the blood loss slowly taking effect on the creature.

Methodically taking a step back with his right foot and placing his left foot forward in a powerful-defensive stance Noah was ready the put the beast out of its misery.

As the Serpion was finally upon him, ready to attack with all it had, the wyrm was in for a rude awakening.

With deadly accuracy, Noah's eyes widened and caught wind of the attack erupting from his defensive stance into a low-profile dash. His blade was extended and ready to kill.

“Third Eye.”

In the collision of two forces, a deciding rending of flesh resounded throughout the plains. The final image? A short-sword plunged into the neck of the beast. Capable of nothing more than a few blood-filled gurgles and coughs; as Noah removed the blade, the mighty dragon's muscles gave way, collapsing on the ground with a dull resounding thud.

Outskirts of Burmecia: Realm of Eternal Rain

Whatever weather Noah had observed from the other side of Gizmaluke's Grotto was only a fraction of what was to be experienced here, torrential rain wailed from the pitch black clouds as if the planet was letting out a somber cry for help. The darkness was only mitigated by the occasional thunderstike that illuminated the plains a fantastic yellow-hue before fading to nothingness.

A gristly sight awaited him before he could reach Burmecia however. He met with the ruins of “The Enterprise”. The stench of death permeated the area, down to the very soil his boots sunk in.

Analyzing the wreckage, Noah frowned.

“I pray my arrival is not in vain, lest this journey be all for naught. I'm not welcome here, this has become the land of the dead. Is this why you weep Gaia? Do not shed any more tears our fair maiden, we'll be done soon.”

Regaining his composure, he returned his thoughts to Burmecia and made his final approaches to the city gates. The wonderfully ornate structures of proud Dragon Knights were almost in sight. Standing as sentinels over Burmecia, with spear in hand and a fearless demeanor to match. Hopefully their strength is with us in the calm before the storm.

“Leave it to us, we'll light the way.”

(OOC: Writer's block sucks, post is awful, herp derp.)

Feeling warmth return to his body, Ricard stood up and looked around Annelise's room again, he was curious about his comrade, perhaps her inventory would give him some insight into her.

Walking towards her property he noticed a book nearby, picking it up he took a read of it, he didn't take her for the literature type.

March 14, 1817

Tomorrow would be the day of our first mission since becoming a knight, and...I can't help but feel nervous about it.

The only thing that kept me from worry was the fact that my instructor in the Academy, General Gisale Wettin was leading the mission into Cleyra. Next to my parents, Gisale was probably one of the best soldiers in the army, to the point where rumors about her swordsmanship.

I also heard that a few Pluto Knights were also taking part. Personally, I find them to be a bunch of jerks who only want to have their way with the other soldiers, but there was one of them however that seemed different from the rest.

I had heard from Father that the warrior who challenged him to a duel 3 years ago joined the knights. Back then, I was a basic trainee, learning swordsmanship from my mother, the way he dressed and acted...back then I thought he was cute.

But I cannot focus on him right now, tomorrow morning, I will leave for Cleyra. I hope that I can do everyone proud, I must prove to everyone that I can fight.

Ricard didn't know what to make of this, it certainly wasn't what he expected to read, it seems this wasn't your average literature. Still, this did give him an idea of who she was, even if only a little.

Theme-The Dragon Champion

"It's been a while since I saw you last Annelise. How are Beatrix and Adelbert? Is he still wearing that rusty old armor?"

Annelise looked over to Freya. Even now, after having not seen her in so long, Freya hadn't changed a bit. "Likewise, Lady Freya." Annelise smiled, after having not seen her friend in so long. "My mother and father are doing well. But he is not wearing his old rusty armor. He and my mother retired from the military a few years ago, they moved out of the city about a year ago as well."

It had only been a few minutes before Annelise got impatient waiting for Ricard. She did not want him to stay here while they launch the rescue plan. "I'll go get Ricard, Robert, and I will return shortly." Annelise began running towards the inn as fast as she could. The rain and the armor began wearing down on her as she stopped to take a rest at the front of the inn. "How dad...managed to run...in his armor...is beyond me."

Anne entered the inn and rushed towards her room, where she saw the door open. "Hey Ricard, we're ready to go." When Anne saw the knight reading a familiar book, Anne walked up to him and snatched the book from his hand and swung the book at his face, a feeling of embarrassment shown on her face. "Please, do not read my diary!"

Lan Ester

Lan turned to see Anne there and also saw that she was getting tired of the waiting.

"I'll go get Ricard, Robert, and I will return shortly."

With a small smile, Lan walked over to the carriage and jumped on top of the carriage. With a sigh, Lan sat down for a bit while taking in the sight of the army gathered there, while ignoring the stares at him and the slight disapproval of his antics. He was going to see clerya. He could not wait as he laid backward and looked at the sky as the darkness started to set in.

"Hmm, I wonder when the others will get here." Lan muttered staring at the sky.

Hearing Annelise walk in, he closed the book casually before turning to face her.

"Are we ready to g-"

Before Ricard could finish his sentence, Annelise cut him off, snatching the book from his hands and swatting him on the nose with it "Please, do not read my diary!"

Ricard replied with a look of slight confusion "What's a diary? And you look a little off colour, maybe you should stay behind if you're sick" Ricard then noticed his clothes had dried off as he walked past her and lifted them away from the fire "well they certainly got warm fast, that's convenient"

Ricard then removed the robe he was wearing and started putting his clothes back on before returning to face Annelise "So, we ready to go now?"

As Amarant and the young man stepped out of the cavern, they found themselves not too far from Burmecia. Remembering he made a deal with his new traveling partner, Amarant turned to him. "Last I heard, Amarant was on his way to Burmecia, to find out what they were doing there to stop the Oeilvertian incursion. I'm heading there myself. Feel free to tag along."

Just as Amarant took a step toward Burmecia, he heard a commanding voice coming from behind him. "Stop right there."

Turning around, Amarant saw the Oeilvertian field general flanked by several soldiers. Pointing to the relic Amarant held in his hand, the general continued. "You were supposed to bring that back to me. When we no longer heard the antlion, we assumed you had defeated it. When you never came back up, we thought you had either died a noble death in battle, or had fled like a coward. Now I see it was neither of those. You're just a contemptible thief."

As the general was talking, a couple of the soldiers paused and looked behind them, down the entrance to the cave. A soft rumbling could be heard. The general seemed not to notice. "You'll be giving that back to me now."

The rumbling grew louder. The soldiers began to inch away from the cave. Amarant crouched defensively. "Come and take it from me then."

The general commanded his troops forward, but there was no response. Just as the general turned to berate his subordinates, the antlion burst through the cave exit, devouring the general and several of the soliders in one fel swoop. The remaining soldiers scattered. The antlion, sated, returned to its dwelling deep within the cave. Amarant paused momentarily, then resumed the journey to Burmecia.

"Coming?"

((OOC: E.L., you can just take us to Burmecia if you want. Up to you. :monster:))

"What's a diary? And you look a little off colour, maybe you should stay behind if you're sick"

Annelise was taken aback when she heard Ricard say that. Pinching her nose for a moment to think about what to do, she said, "I'm not sick. I'm just annoyed that you're reading something so personal." Anne was a bit annoyed but more embarrassed, she began to wonder herself what else did Ricard read about her deepest, darkest secrets.

Anne quickly walked out the room and waited in the corridor as Ricard changed his clothes. Her face no longer red, Annelise turned around to see the Pluto Knight decked in his robes that he had on earlier before his attempted duel with Alleria.

"So, we ready to go now?"

"We are ready Ricard. Come on, everyone is waiting for us by the gate." Annelise began walking past Ricard as she headed down the front and out of the inn.

"Very well, I suppose we'd better get going before I face another lecture from a certain someone..."

Ricard started to leave, stopping as he passed Annelise "If you're worried about people reading something that bothers you so much, why write them down at all? Books are there to be read after all"

Ricard then continued walking out of the inn, with the fresh warmth of his clothing he was rather resistant to the rain for the moment as he approached the group, Katana in hand. "So when are we leaving?"

((Pink, if you're still in this and want to come along on the mission, you could have Rior just enter the carriage.))

Freya Crescent
Robert Crescent

Robert looked over to see Ricard and Annelise arrive. He made a headcount of everyone who had attended his 'meeting'. He hadn't seen Rior since they arrived, and since he wasn't at the meeting, unless he showed up soon, it would be himself, Annelise, Alleria and Ricard. A small team of four. He then turned to look at his mother. "All members that were briefed are accounted for." he spoke to Freya. "Also, I suspect there may be some resistance in the trunk, though my suspicions are currently unconfirmed." Robert added. He still didn't trust Ricard's former friend, but there was no way to prove if she was lying or telling the truth.

Freya gave a nod to her son's response. "Very well. Even if you can't confirm it, it never hurts to be too cautious, especially on a mission like this. And if the antlion makes an appearance, I will be there to deal with it." Freya spoke to him. "Now then, get your team into the rear carriage We leave at once." Freya spoke.

Robert turned around and looked over to Ricard. "Well, there's your answer. I'm not sure about your friend and I mean no offense, but I'd rather take precautions and be wrong then blindly believe it all and have it turn into a trap." Robert said in a nonchalant tone of voice. Robert headed to the rear of the gathered army where the black carriages were lined up. Robert found the reserved, empty carriage and hopped in through the open rear entrance. all of the carriages had open rear doors to allow for easy troop deployment.

Once everyone was inside, a few more minutes would pass before the army began heading out of the city.

***************

The army would travel along about half a mile away from the mountainside as soon as they reached the halfway point. There, Freya's eyes spotted something very familiar. A large 'mountain' or red hair off in the distance, heading towards Burmecia, and with him was another person. She couldn't make much out given the distance, but she knew of only one person in the world with hair like that. She turned to the chocobo-mounted soldier beside her. "Keep the troops on course. I'm going to check something out." she spoke.

Once the soldier replied with a 'Yes General', Freya began riding off towards Amarant's location. Once she got close enough, she was able to confirm with her own eyes who he was. "Amarant? What are you doing here?" She asked as she looked down at her old friend, bringing her chocobo to a halt.

"Well, there's your answer. I'm not sure about your friend and I mean no offense, but I'd rather take precautions and be wrong then blindly believe it all and have it turn into a trap."

"For once I couldn't agree with you more"

As the army marched on to Cleyra, Freya charged off from the group, seemingly to inspect something, or someone. Looking onwards Ricard took in the desert surrounding Cleyra, a place he hadn't been to in a long time "I assume it goes without saying we should keep our guard up from here on out? There's more than enemy soldiers to watch out for in here"

Ricard then turned to face Robert
"Regarding that, I assume we're going to split up when we hit the trunk? I have a feeling my 'guest' may turn up on my path, personally I think if we keep the team i'm in smaller we'd have a smaller body count to handle, that and I have a feeling she won't have me killed, not that she'd be able to..."

While the arrogance wasn't intentional, it was true his ability in combat surpassed her's when he wasn't weakened like before, something about her exit left him thinking she'd be trying to get in the way again soon and he didn't want to have to have other people's lives at risk in a confrontation.

Lan watched everything as the carriage started to move. Soon enough, he and the people that were to help clerya strolled out of Burmeica and towards said area. Deciding it was better to be inside the carriage, Lan banged on the top of the carriage before opening the door and clambering inside. Shutting the door behind him, Lan saw that Roberd, Ricard, Anne and Alleria were there.

"Did I miss anything?" Lan asked with a slight smile.

Don't say it don't say it don't say it do- "Amarant? What are you doing here?"

Crap.

"So...when were you going to tell me you were the man I was looking for.."

"I wasn't going to."

Amarant turned to the newly arrived Freya. "I'm on my way to Burmecia. Thought you'd be there. So the better question is, why are you not there?"
