[RP] FFIX: The Return of the Mist

Brannt found himself near General Beatrix as the battle continued. He had observed her taking out crowds with a particular ability. The sheer amount of Burmecians piling in meant that they need that technique again but who knew how long the general could keep it up? Granted, together all of them could defeat the throng but it would be easier if Beatrix could perform that technique for prolonged periods. Fortunately, Brannt had a technique for that.

As he parried another thrust and cut down the offender, he shifted his eyes to look at Beatrix. "General Beatrix, I hold no doubt that you would do anything to protect Alexandria. If you would wish to do minimal damage to the square and to we who defend it, then you will have to make a small sacrifice."

Not waiting for a response, he placed the blunt tip of his sword against her as he froze another assault on him with a Blizzara spell. Focusing his concentration he used his skill drain technique to copy Beatrix's Stock Break technique. For Beatrix it would mean a small amount of pain but nothing she could not deal with. Besides, who could argue with the results?

As the technique was absorbed Garland's words filled his mind.

"You are a parasite. Your abilites have no origin. Your magic is red stemming from both black and white with no magics all their own. You steal from them without giving anything back. Your sword techniques are also parasitic. You drain enemies of their strengths and use them to bolster your own. Even your elemental slashes are nothing more than stolen black magic cobbled together with stolen sword techniques. But you can be useful, unlike the others before you. You could never be who I wanted but you can help..."

Garland's unfulfilled promise still stung him though he knew what his destiny would've been. Brannt pushed the thoughts from his mind as he joined the attack again. This time though he used the Stock Break technique copied from Beatrix, copying it perfectly down to the stance. The pilfered skill annihilated the first few ranks of soldiers easily and so Brannt continued, slaughtering them.

OOC: Totally didn't write what this "game" was down (per my last post), so I'm going to improvise here. Badly.

Zephon's gaze soon turned to a glare as he beheld the battle before him. It was inexplicable - his blood began to boil at the sight of these local heroes. Turning his head to face Dahaka, still with a look of utter loathing on his face, addressed her most sincerely.

"It's time these oddities we've been instigating come full-circle. Our message should be clear - destroy these Burmecians then come find me. We need to commission Mist-airships... steam won't hold up for much longer at this rate. And don't linger! The Mist is here too; don't want to rile everyone while we're still here." Playfulness embraced him once more, as he stuck his tongue out at the little girl.

Post-haste, Zephon rose to his full stature after stooping, and turned tail. He didn't want to seem suspicious, but there was something ridiculously enjoyable about casually strolling through a city in dismay and chaos.

Luca threw his dagger at the Burmecian hovering over Freya, brandishing its spear. The blade implanted directly between the creature's eyes, killing it instantaneously as it fell backwards. The fire magic imbued in the blade took hold and burned the corpse to a crisp almost immediately, and tongues of flame caught the tattered remains of a few other Burmecians clothes. They hardly seemed to notice as they themselves caught fire. The smell was horrendous.

Luca bodily hauled Freya up by the shoulders. She offered little resistance or help. She hardly seemed to want to stand on her own, and stood as if in a daze, staring at the back of the encroaching Burmecians. Luca tried to get through to her, shaking her shoulder none too gently. "Freya! We need to move back! There are too many to take on out in the open like this!"

No response.

Taking matters into his own hands, Luca began dragging her backwards. At this, Freya seemed to snap out of her trance. Shaking off Luca's hands, she leaped into the air, toward the rear of the Burmecians. On her way up, Luca heard the slightest of whispers over the din of the melee.

"I will not lose you again, Fratley."

Raistlin knew he could take the remaining three crazed rat people down. However, he also knew that this would cost him in the long run. He bum rushed the final three. With his left hand, he punched one in the face, and with his right hand, he hit the other in the chest. They were dead, and the other one had jumped in the air, his goal, to land on Raistlin.

However, he was prepared, and rolled to the side. The Burmecian stumbled on the landing, giving Raistlin the chance to grab his leg, and fry him with electricity.

Standing up, just barely, Raistlin looked to the kids and said, “there, you're saved! I'm going back to my ship so I can pass out. Go tell everyone that there is a ship outside the city, and I'll be in it, sleeping on the floor.”

Limping away, Raistlin made it to his ship. However, he never made it inside. He passed out 2 steps away from the entrance. “Case and point: Today sucks.”

OOC: Whenever you want us to stop killing anthromorphic rats, now it is the time.

Alexandra sheathed her daggers once more and took up a spear from a dead Burmecian. Twirling it around her hands, she took up a battle stance against the rabid Burmecians. One such Burmecian charged at the former Tantalus member with his own spear, and swung horizontally towards her torso, she jumped back, then did a vertical strike to the head, splitting it open. She swung horizontaly at the torso of another incoming Burmecian twice, splitting his torso open as well. A third one used it's spear to break Alexandra's weapon in half. Seeing the two pieces, she quickly used one to impale the Burmecian in the eye, and the other to pierce through his heart.

Brannt stood at the front, panting slightly, his blade about the touch the street beneath him. They was seemingly no end in sight. Any normal person probably would've have collapsed fromw what he had done but Brannt wasn't about to give up; he was part of a legacy. Maybe not the most deadly but in his own right he was powerful.

He watched as a trio of kids sneaked around the outer wall of the square. 'Probably only some more escapees,' he thought. A soldier broke off and head toward them. He was fried though by a thundara spear from Brannt. The children rushed over to him for protection.

"You three need to get under cover. I dont know how much longer we can last, let alone if we can beat them."

"Yeah, mister, but-"
"Theres an airship outside-"
"And the man with the lightning hands-"
"Said that he was gonna sleep and-"
"To get everyone on it-"
"Before its too late!"

Despite the interrupted sentences of the children, Brannt could understand them. "Alright. Split up and go tell the others the same thing and that I'll be breaching a path through them to the airship." The kids ran off in different directions, rushing towards the other fighters. "Well, let's see how long I can keep this up."

He rushed the horde, using stock break as soon as he got close enough, opening a hole in the ranks. As he used it again, he could only hope that the kids had gotten their message across in time for them to follow.

Beatrix felt a small sting and a quick burst of fatigue as Brandt touched his sword to her neck. Blinking, she didn't resist because she had an idea of what was happening, and as the newcomer copied her powerful spell, she took a glance around in the brief moments she had between one assault and the next.

There were Burmecians everywhere, a swarm of the lizard-like beings for every innocent Alexandrian. The huge city was being overrun with the invaders, and, much as Beatrix hated to admit it, they stood very little chance of victory. Magic only lasted so long, and so did the energies of the physical fighters. Already the Alexandrian cobblestones were littered with the blood-stained corpses of innocent and invader alike. It was time for the resistance to cut their losses.

"Fall back!" yelled Beatrix, dodging an incoming Burmecian assault and smiting the spear wielding offender with a Shock spell. "There are airships on the outskirts of the city that will take you to safety. Retreat at once! Protect your children!"

This said, Beatrix sheathed her sword and placed her hand outwards. A burst of fire erupted from her outstretched hand, and the Climhazzrd spell sent the ring of soldiers surrounding them into the air, before slamming them down painfully on the ground. Taking a single deep breath, Beatrix began to run as fast as she could manage, her only thought Princess Garnet and her evacuation. She needed to find her before she could leave.

Dahaka smiled its cruel smile, nodded, and skipped into the carnage. There was a brief glint of metal, a second before a Burmecian emitted a pained scream and collapsed, bleeding from a gaping wound in her gut. There was a flash of scarlet light, and another Burmeciann fell, his torso and chest burnt black.

They tumbled like dominoes, weak, unresisting. Dahaka smiled in ecstasy as it felt life after life fading from the world. The Burmecians' Mist addled brains were too clouded and manic for them to put up a decent resistance, and so Dahaka continued in its ecstatic slaughter, the childish smile never leaving her face.

The Burmecians kept flooding into the city, and Sanjia didn't know how long he would be able to last. The only thing that kept him going was Beatrix and the couple others that were there with them. Somehow, him being in this really small group kept him going and kept the Burmecians falling. One enemy hit him in the arm with his weapon, sending a sharp pain up his arm and causing him to fall down briefly.

"Damn, I don't know how much longer I can go on like this."

"Fall back! There are airships on the outskirts of the city that will take you to safety. Retreat at once! Protect your children!"

Getting to his feet quickly, he saw Beatrix take off after launching a spell. He figured the queen, or whoever was in charge, was in the castle, so that was where he headed in an attempt to help evacuate as many people as possible. He didn't know if it would do any good, but he had to try something.

Cid had reached his airship moments ago and was now looking down upon the city from the top of Alexandria Castle.

As he surveyed the streets of Alexandria for his high vantage point he noticed Beatrix and several others heading towards the castle, apparently unaware they were being chased by many of the "Burmecian" soldiers. He ordered the pilot the power up the engines of the Hilda Garde IV in order to face down the street and open up on the Burmecians with the forward facing guns, designed to fire small but piercing rounds, designed so as not to the the ship in air combat.

The ship turned to face down the street and Cid gave the order to open fire. As he did so he noticed a ship on the outskirts of the city, a ship he was sure he knew, but couldn't at that moment remeber why he knew it...

As Blank Struck down another buremacian, he heard the order to fall back to the airships "we can't lose Alexandria, not again, not like the carnage caused by Bahamut those few years ago" he announced the anger growing inside of him like a forest fire, growing in intensity. The Grip on his Blood Sword tightening "FALL BACK" he shouted, as loud as he could as he began to backtrack towards the Airship's location, cutting down Buremacian soldiers as he went. "Beatrix, where is the Queen?" he shouted over to her.

Blank himself had changed in the years after Kuja's reign of terror, he was now a native of Alexandria and was a member of the honorable Pluto Knights, changing his old light weight attire for more heavy Armour, he now donned mithril gloves, armor and a mithril Helmet, but was still able to Steal from foes.

Fighting on, he was slowly making his way towards the Airship, his route was through the Castle, his plan to collect and Evacuate Queen Garnet.

Alexandria knew that these Burmecians had to be attacking for a reason, and she knew that most of them were going to hitch a ride to Burmecia. She headed up, running up a house, grabbing onto a ledge and flipping herself onto a ceiling, all in one fluid motion. Once on top of the ceiling, she looked around for the closest airship.

She found one, not too far from here. Putting a smile on her face. She ran, jumping from building to building trying to get to the ship. Unfortunately, some Burmecians with Spears jumped up and began to come at her head on. Drawing out her Daggers, she slid under one of the rat creatures, and slashed it at the legs, keeping him from following. Ignoring the other one, Alexandria continued towards her objective.

As Blank burst through the castle doors, he charged through the area, he was searching for Garnet, he passed other Soldiers and a couple of the Pluto knights on his search, but he didn't stop to talk to anyone, he sheathed his sword in order to give him more speed as he ran.

Powering through the doors to the Royal sweet he looked around and found no signof the princess. "Damnit" he muttered under his breath "King Zidane has probably already got her out of here Blank you fool" he muttered to himself before turning on the spot and heading towards the Castle entrance, as he arrived he saw Buremacian's entering the Castle.

"Their in the castle, Pluto knights, Alexandrian Soldiers, Stop them" he shouted as he drew his Blood sword and cut his hand just enough to cause blood to trickle out, he then ran the bleeding wound down the blade, he then jumped from the balcony and landed in the center of the Buremacian's, unleashing a Darkside attack on one of them. he then continued Battling, but he knew the numbers game would overthrow him if Help didn't show up soon.

Brannt had cut a path through the burmecians and made it to the other side. Keeping his sword out, found the airship waiting for the refugees. Climbing aboard, he found a single person lying on the ground. "I guess you're the one the kids said would be taking us out of here," he said to the body.

Hearing no answer, Brannt hefted him onto his shoulder annd dragged him to the side. If he was the captain then it would not be good if he were trampled by those coming on board. As it was, he knew the ship the best and it would probably be best to get him to a state of consciousness to at least tell Brannt how to pilot it if not pilot it himself.

He cast Cura on Raistlin, hoping to relieve what could be wounds.

Raistlin felt something cool flow through his body. It was refreshing, cool, and energizing. Contrasting the destruction of Alexandria, the gentle breeze of the wind outside it's gates was calm and peaceful. Placing his hands flat on the ground to feel the grass below him, he looked up to see a man standing in front of him. Obviously, he was the one that cast the healing spell on him. “Thanks... Who are you?” Raistlin said to the man. “If you're getting in the ship, there's a huge blood stain on the floor. Just a warning.”

"I suppose I would be a fallen angel," Brannt said cryptically. "You had best get to your feet. The invaders haven't seen this ship yet but they can easily swarm on it." He offered his hand to Raistlin to help him up. "We had best hurry. And if I need to I can cast another healing spell..."

As Blank fought back the Buremacian's charging through the Castle entrance, the Pluto knights joined the Fray to assist him. "Sir Blank, get to one of the evacuation airships, we will hold theses guys here" on of them announced as two more pluto knights took the place of Blank "Godspeed men" Blank announced before charging out of the castle through a Side entrance that was added during the reconstruction.

Blank made his way through the back alleys of Alexandria, as he arrived at one of the Airships he saw two men nearby, one on the floor, the other Standing over him with a hand Extended out. "Guys, one of you the Captain?" Blank shouted over "we getting on-board" he shouted as he glanced around to check if he was followed.

"The captain would be me," Raistlin said hastily. "Get everyone one board, quickly. But please, please don't scratch anything up or damage it. I'm rather fond of this ship." Raistlin was still somewhat out of it. He grabbed Brannt's hand and stood up. "Please mind the blood stain. Odds are someone is going to slip on it." Raistlin grinned and said, "It wasn't easy getting over here."

Blank placed his right hand onto the airship and hoisted himself half onboard, his left half was hung off of the ship "EVERYBODY ON BOARD NOW!!!!" he almost screeched as Civillian's burst out of the city and began boarding with Blanks assistance "Captain, where are we to meet the rest of the Evacuation airships?" Blank Questioned as he helped more people onto the ship.

he noticed a child a bit further up the line to get on the ship and dropped onto the Ground, as the Child reached him, he lifted the young boy and put him on the ship, "this isn't good" he muttered to himself.

Raistlin by no means was an evil man. He was just selfish... And impatient. It somewhat annoyed him that loads of people he didn't know where getting in his ship. They were going to get everything dirty. Not to imply that it wasn't already dirty. There was blood and guts all over the floor from the mist diseased people he killed before.

Raistlin sighed, “my poor, poor, ship.” It didn't help that he had come to warn King Zidane and Queen Garnet, and they were nowhere to be found. “I suppose we should wait for more people. The ship is onl-” Raistlin was interrupted by seeing a kid putting scuff marks on his ships floor. “OI! WHEN YOU GET MONEY YOU CAN SCUFF UP YOUR OWN DAMNED SHIP, YOU TAINT!” Raistlin right... Today really was a shitty day.

Blank looked over at the captain of the ship as he began screaming like a mad man in it. Blank put his hand on the hilt of his sword "The Alexandrian government will pay for any damages our Citizens cause to your ship." Blank announced before stepping up onto the ship, and standing waiting for the remaining survivors to get aboard along with the captain and the other man with him. "you boys better hurry up" Blank shouted down to him.
